What's going on?!
Went online to order some last minute gifts from M&S and it's too late...
No click n collect nor delivery dates until
29th December!
Bugger.

Husband will only have books this year. No slippers. Dressing gown or socks. Welll, not until after Christmas anyway. In which case I might as well wait for the sales 😃

I love how everyone is jumping on the op. Some people have only just got paid and it's all good saying go to the shop, but I am disabled and have to isolate until new year as I am having an operation so can't just go out.
Even if you have exceptional circumstances that mean you cannot go out then it is still to be expected that m&s and any other retailer will not be able to guarantee delivery before christmas today.

Not being able to go out or only just being paid does not alter the logistics of M&S's and many other retailers delivery systems.

I have only just been paid and have no way of getting to a shop before christmas but I knew this and planned accordingly. Its not the retailers fault!

So. then. Plan. Accordingly.

This post has to be a fake, come on op you know what this time of year is like.
I mean leaving it 4 days before Christmas, really?

Roselilly36 · 21/12/2021 08:21

Naughty Christmas sneaking up on you like that OP!

FlibbertyGibbitt · 21/12/2021 08:22

Start knitting 🤣

onedayoranother · 21/12/2021 08:23

Amazon has plenty of drivers. I see them every day round my way and half the time they are delivering to me (also handy to use local Amazon for buying presents for those abroad)

mafted · 21/12/2021 08:24

I'd be surprised too OP, I've just ordered some bits and bobs from M&S to collect on the 24th, I could have paid £4.99 for delivery. I've got some things coming from Next and with my Ocado shop too.

I don't know how people can get everything bought in advance tbh, I can't remember a year when I haven't been shopping right up to Christmas Eve.

APlot · 21/12/2021 08:24

@Aposterhasnoname

I’ve heard it said that there are some places, called, I think, shops. Apparently you can rock up to, completely unannounced, pick whatever you like from the shelves, and take it home with you the very same day. Maybe see if you could find one such establishment.
😂😂
PriamFarrl · 21/12/2021 08:26

Did having a husband come as a surprise to you this year?
Did you suddenly remember that he was there?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 21/12/2021 08:26

Buy a diary and mark the 25th December in it to save the angst next year. Christmas day is a regular occurrence.

That is called having a choice. Some people don't have the luxury of being able to plan accordingly.

love this lol i work in one of these such places . the op would be amazed at the amount of customers we have coming in to physically buy our product's!

Exactly. If money is tight, and there are people you know you will be buying for and you know what you are getting them then you buy it in advance. I did all my shopping in November so I had December’s money for food shopping g.

Jesus wept. So what do you want people to do?

Shops have been selling Christmas stuff from OCTOBER.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 21/12/2021 08:29

@phishy

I haven’t been paid this month yet. It’s madness waiting for your December pay to buy presents.
Not if you have no money left before December it isn't.
Beautiful3 · 21/12/2021 08:30

Will it allow you to select next day delivery?

PriamFarrl · 21/12/2021 08:33

Not if you have no money left before December it isn't.

Christmas is the same day every year. It’s not a surprise. When you are skint you plan accordingly. You with put money aside or you buy stuff throughout the year.

phishy · 21/12/2021 08:33

Not if you have no money left before December it isn't.

Then OP (or anyone else) should have agreed with her DH (or other adults) that there will be no Christmas present exchange.

Honestly, the amount of whining here..

ifonly4 · 21/12/2021 08:34

I'm not surprised. They'll always be some (like yourself) who want to order online at this time of the year, but also people are beginning to get cautious and avoid mixing, so are doing it as safely as possible.

RedskyThisNight · 21/12/2021 08:35

Oh my God.

Some. People. Don't. Have. A. Choice.

If you can afford to buy presents in December, you can change your yearly buying pattern and buy them in November (or October or any other month) instead.
If you are struggling for cash, then spreading the purchase of presents over the year is more sensible anyway.

heterosexualwoman1924638169 · 21/12/2021 08:38

Just break into the shop. Completely harmless and very legal.

Not if you've had unexpected expenses you can't. And it's incredibly supercilious to preach about "spreading the cost" when some people have fuck all to spread.
Solmum1964 · 21/12/2021 08:42

I placed an order on Thursday for a top for me, not a Christmas present, for click and collect on Saturday. Received an email on Friday to say it was delayed and would arrive on Monday, which it did, but there is obviously a problem.

lottiegarbanzo · 21/12/2021 08:43

I feel that OP must have posted charitably, purely to offer MNers an opportunity for seasonal smugness. 3/10 OP, stretching credulity.
