Just a word of caution, Crazy. We briefly had a leather sofa in the conservatory...it took me back to the 70s and burning my bum on the vinyl seats in my dads Vauxhall Viva. The current one has leather arms and they get covered by a throw in summer.

CrazyBaubles · 12/12/2021 20:26

Do you have a lot to wrap Wreck? This is a bit late for me, I like to be done and only have my twitch buys to wrap by now!

Fluffy I thought about that with the sofas but our living room isn't the right size or layout for the corner sofa so it wouldn't work plus I don't want to spend £3k on a sofa.

I was going to say I love doing nothing but I don't think that's true - I very rarely just sit and watch tv, I'm usually doing something alongside it (usually researching something, crafting, organising or making lists or shopping).
I quite like that feeling when things are done for the day and then you get to relax - it's the best feeling!

puss our plan is to put a solid roof in the conservatory so it'll be a usable room all year around, probably next year (because they're ££) so that should avoid the burnt arse scenario 😂

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 12/12/2021 20:39

Crazy, 'nothing' for me is when I'm sitting still on my arse, if even I'm cross stitching etc, not actually nothing. I don't do nothing (awful double negative!).

£3k is a lot to spend in a sofa, yes. What were you hoping to spend?

Puss, I have plenty of ouch memories from hot leather car seats. The smell of old cars used to make me 🤢 too.

When one tree is just not enough...

Christmas tree world record holder. 🤯

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/12/2021 22:05

Tree Envy here PussyCat , no tree here .
We've been putting up lights and pre-lit swags .

I bought DS and DD presents From The Catz they will be wrapped ( as per Tradition) really really badly with clumps of fur under the tape .

Our sofa needs replaced at some time , its an Ikea Erktop . I would get another one happily . Originally we had a dark blue (summer) and a dark red(winter) covers , then when they wore out it is now a beige-y one .
Shows the cat hair up a treat Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/12/2021 23:02

Lovely baking *

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/12/2021 23:07

Stupid app!!

Lovely baking Fluffy I just cannot get my baking mojo together. I only need to make a Yule Log and marzipan/ice my little Christmas cakes. Maybe I can send them to Constantly 😂

I'm mostly wrapped. DS finishes school on Tuesday so I want to be done by then. I've got two "main" presents and three lots of stocking fillers to wrap but they go in tissue paper and don't have to be perfect.

Have we made it the whole year without messing up the countdown?!

Crazy I haven't got loads to wrap as we've cut down this year. It's the dc's bits which will take time.

I've been awake for half an hour and my alarm goes off in ten minutes 🥱

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 13/12/2021 05:55

I couldn't sleep either, so got up just after 4. Going food shopping later...the excitement!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 13/12/2021 06:35

No, Wreck...it was corrected once, a while ago! Xmas Blush

I woke when my alarm went off. But I don't do the cross trainer the day after the allotment! Too exhausted / achey!

I still need to wrap everything but at least my cakes are marzipanned. I will ice the small ones mid-week because they are gifts I can do yours as well woolly if you like. will probably wrap next weekend because DD is out during the day on Saturday and Sunday.
Crazy I like the sound of a conservatory with a proper roof - we need the extra space but live on a hill so a nice conservatory would be v expensive. Our big project for next year is a new kitchen because our current one is falling apart.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/12/2021 08:24

Morning folks. I am up early on my only day off till the weekend waiting for a call from the GP about my son, long story there which I can't motivate myself to go into.

I need to somehow fit wrapping presents into my day but not sure how at the moment.

My wrapped presents always look like cats wrapped them 70. Fluffy once said to me that what I lack in wrapping talent I make up for with paper and sellotape 🤣

CrazyBaubles · 13/12/2021 10:16

Fluffy I don't really have a budget in mind for the sofa - we have comfy ish chairs in there so we'll keep our eyes open for a bargain but there's no rush. After having to replace the washing machine and fridge in the last 6 months I'm not in a hurry to buy the sofa tbh!

Wreck it took me almost 3 films (Muppets Christmas Carol, Grinch and Christmas Chronicles) to get my wrapping finished and the pile of presents looked way too small to have taken so much time.

I am quite proud that I wrapped some of DHs presents right under his nose and he didn't notice Xmas Grin

Constantly our house is small but the conservatory is a really good size - I don't think I'd have bought the house without it but it needs a solid roof. In the summer the sun is blinding and it's like a sauna as it's in a south facing garden.
My dad can fit them but they're a good few £k so we need to save - I feel like all we've done is spend money since we moved!

Hope things are ok with your son Why

Work is a bit intense today and I'm having a bit of a crisis of confidence. No real reason, just a bit of imposter syndrome mixed with marvellous hormones I think 😩

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 14/12/2021 06:23

Morning!

I'm debating whether to do the cross trainer as I ache so much already. I'm not sure it's a good plan! Probably not today...I might do some overtime at work instead.

I'm totally wrapped, other than one thing which needs the paper swapping and DH's cross stitch as I'm waiting for the mount for it (it had better come soon!).

Might as well hold out, Crazy. Maybe the sales will provide some joy?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 14/12/2021 06:33

I've always been told it depends on the ache fluffy. If your aches stop once you're warmed up then it's fine but if they don't you need rest. I'm at the gym again as I've got a blood test tomorrow and have to take a first morning urine sample with me so don't want to come then Grin

Dds Covid result still isn't back but I'm making her get ready for school in the hope it comes through. The test centre was busy though. I've told her I need to wrap today whilst in lectures and she said she'd stay in her room.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 14/12/2021 06:35

It's my trapezius which went twang yesterday, Wreck. I seem to be twanging all over the shop this week. I'm not doing it today, but will tomorrow, as hopefully it's resolved / almost resolved then.

I hope the test results comes back - negative - soon.

OP posts:
ConstantlyCooking · 14/12/2021 06:52

Fingers crossed for your DD's results Wreck. We have a few cases this week (pupils and staff).
Fluffy I hope your back improves soon!

WreckTangled · 14/12/2021 07:22

Negative! Ten minutes for she has to leave for the bus Grin she's very disappointed

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 14/12/2021 07:36

Thank god! Xmas Grin

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 14/12/2021 08:12

That's good news for you Wreck

Booster day for me and last day of term for DS so if I have a bad reaction I'm at the mercy of a teenage boy for my refreshments tomorrow 😂

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 14/12/2021 09:02

Woolly can he make a Gin and tonic? Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/12/2021 11:06

I don't like tonic Puss but I'm sure I can supervise a gin and lemonade

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 14/12/2021 11:22

Ah, I don't like tonic either - it's foul stuff. I had a beer after my booster...I still got a sore armpit/lymph node. It was ok for sewing/knitting, but no good at cooking/housework. Xmas Wink

WreckTangled · 14/12/2021 12:27

Stocking fillers wrapped! Pleased to have got them out of the way.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 14/12/2021 12:36
