Also, the brownies I won. I thought it was 6 a month but it's 18 Shock so excited Grin

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 02/12/2021 07:48

18 is a lot of brownies! 🤣 Will they last / freeze to spread the joy?

I'm just glad I had the Nectar points to spend on it, as I have found the money, but it was better not to!

Is anybody getting LOADS of texts from couriers / RM at the moment?! Xmas Grin

Our new mattress arrives today. I'm so excited!

WreckTangled · 02/12/2021 07:55

Yes they can be frozen! Also they're small so two is one portion for me Wink ooo new mattress that's exciting.

I'm getting lots of dispatch/courier emails.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 02/12/2021 08:13

I bought the new mattress in the power hour on eBay on Friday, which gave me the points to buy DS' Lego! It's a Simba...I can't wait!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 02/12/2021 09:07

Simba mattresses are meant to be great Fluffy

I hope your DS and Wrecks dd are both ok today?

I have to confess to being a brat. I went to my parents for tea yesterday and was presented with a 1st December present Xmas Blush That hasn't happened before but apparently they were in TK Maxx so my dm nabbed them as soon as they came in - I'm now the proud owner of 2 more Spode dinner plates (so 4 in total now) and the gravy boat. I'm so chuffed, the gravy boat comes with a little plate for it to sit on and it's lovely Xmas Smile

Now I just need to get through a ridiculously busy work day today and finish some click & collect orders I have in baskets (Matalan, Wilko and Superdrug) amongst sorting washing / cleaning etc.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 02/12/2021 09:14

Are Wilko back to doing C&C now, Crazy? Every time I've looked, they claim not to be. Drives me mad as their postage is a bit steep!

What a lovely present! You're not a brat as you didn't demand / request / expect it. You're just lucky! Xmas Grin

Morning.
We had a change of plan yesterday (didn't go to H), so DH went out for lunch with a couple of ex-colleagues instead...
at midnight he didn't feel particularly well...
by 00.30, well, let's just say he spent about 3.5 hours in the bathroom...
💩

He really should be wearing shuffly slippers and a dressing gown of doom but he doesn't own/wouldn't wear either and could do with more sleep, but I think he's trying to be "brave" and be let out for lunch again in 2 wks time 🤞🤦‍♀️

I spent the night downstairs out of the way, watching iplayer with the cats, and was woken up at 7 by a little fluffy paw on my nose 😻

Crazy I've 3 dinner plates, a teapot, a mug and a couple of large but differently shaped jugs stop laughing in the blue, not Christmas. I really want need the tree shaped 🎄 Christmas dish. In my Hallmark Christmas film dream house, I'd have 2 enormous glass fronted dressers, one full of blue Spode and one full of Christmas Spode...😂

WreckTangled · 02/12/2021 11:01

I agree that's not bratty although I am jealous

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 02/12/2021 11:27

What a lovely present Crazy.

I am off to work shortly but I have had an intense fridge jenga session after over estimating things (just for a change) with the food shop. I have frozen party food coming from Iceland at the weekend.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 02/12/2021 13:12

why wear some gloves! I did the other day when I was "Jengaing" and it made all the difference 🥶

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 02/12/2021 17:00

Yes! I wear thermal gardening gloves for rearranging the freezer! Reynauds, you see!

Dd said there's about 1/3 of her class off at the moment. If anyone gets Covid in the next 3 weeks I'm going to cry!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 02/12/2021 17:51

When do you go to Edinburgh, Wreck? The last thing anybody wants for Christmas is Covid!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 02/12/2021 17:57

The 19th! I wish the school would close, home learning is fine by me Grin

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 02/12/2021 18:08

Our kids have had ICT lessons comprising learning how to log into Google Class or whatever it's called (whatever they used at home)...DH said that if they think we're he's doing home learning again, they've another think coming! Xmas Grin

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 02/12/2021 18:13

Our schools use teams which is good as I know how to use that. I've also just discovered teams together mode which has made my work meetings hilarious. Especially when we're all doing it apart from our manager 🤣🤣

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 02/12/2021 18:15

What's Teams together? We use that at work!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 02/12/2021 18:35

You can put everyone into the same virtual background, but it only works for those with the virtual background open. If one of you changes the background it changes for everyone who has it open. For those without it they just seen you on the normal screen. They have festive ones too.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 02/12/2021 18:50

That's brilliant...coordinating my team would likely be like herding cats, however! 🤣🤣

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 02/12/2021 18:51

It's ok you can still do it without them and just snigger to yourself Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/12/2021 00:03

Dh and I are off to Costco tomorrow but I have a dentist appointment first

I was really nice Mother-of-the-Year and helped DS make a batch of Yorkshire Puddings -there were none and he was plaintively whittering about walking round to the local Tesco to buy some so I said "Why don't I show you how to cook Proper ones"
And I gave him my Cadbury Caramel from my Advent ( I must be going soft Xmas Grin )

Just been watching the news about Arthur Labinjo-Hughes and the sentencing his Dad and Dad's girlfriend will recieve tomorrow . Makes me so fe**ing angry that this went on for months . And Hughes Mum is a teacher who alerted SS and will have Safeguarding Training but this boy was utterly failed by SW ,Police, his Dad and the StepMum.

Not a very festive post Xmas Sad
I often feel sad about some of my patients who I know will be alone (some it is their choice -they say. Some are without family . Some are estranged for many reasons )
Must be worse for teachers going n their Christmas holiday knowing there are children in their classes who will only recieve abuse and neglect over Christmas .

I'm finished whining . Off to bed now .

Fluffy Wilko aren’t doing click and collect - I clearly can’t multi task as I had several tabs open and checked if George at Asda were doing C&C and somehow got that and Wilko muddled 🙄

Hope your dh is feeling better puss

I’m glad no one else thinks my present is bratty. Dsis got panto tickets for her and the kids but I’d take my plates and gravy boat any day! Means my collection is now 4 dinner plates, 2 side plates, 2 bowls, 2 mugs, an oven dish, serving plate and gravy boat. DH is not impressed Xmas Grin

Wreck It seems the education authority here is provisionally preparing for ending term a few days early (14th) so a 10 day isolation could still finish by Christmas Day. Nothing has been decided for certain though.

70 I know there were some kids dh was so worried about during lockdown that he did some visits to ‘deliver homework’ with some, and he volunteered to run the breakfast club when they tried to stop it when they went back - I think there are a lot of kids that get fed very little at home Sad
I think it's very sad (and telling) that he was on a first name basis with several social workers within his first year of teaching.

That poor little boy, it makes me feel sick to think of it. He was so completely and utterly failed, it’s awful.

CrazyBaubles · 03/12/2021 00:40

Why does my bold go so strange when posting from the iPad?

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 03/12/2021 04:51

We watched the news about poor little Arthur; it's horrific. That poor, poor boy. Why nobody with any power to help did anything to help him is beyond me. No doubt they'll use the lame Covid excuse. Angry

I'm feeling a bit ill again, and DS is also under the weather. I'm trying to work out how to do an LFT on him, as I know he'll take it very badly.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 03/12/2021 05:17

Oh no fluffy. Ds struggles with them, his nose is still so tiny despite his age. I let him to it himself and tell him to pick his nose as much as he can. We can only do what we can, as long as he has a go. It's not nice though.

We have lots of difficult cases at work, thankfully none as bad as poor Arthur. It's hard. And also knowing the process when something gets reported to SS it's really hard to understand how this happened. A result of chronic underfunding, dangerous staffing levels and too high work loads across health and social care.
