Morning all and Happy Christmas Eve!

DDs are home and I'm just waiting for them to get up and see if they are ok after their boosters yesterday.

70 I hope your household doesn't get too ill and you still enjoy your Christmas. Did you get your 'thing' that you focus your Christmas table on?

Booths was fine. Lovely and calm, as it always is in there. I got done white chocolate for the chocolate puddings (dark chocolate discs with white chocolate on them) I have on my list to make later on. Not sure how well they'll go, but time will tell!

LFTs came available last night online, 70. Probably also went out again too!

Ha ! No I didn't get The Thing this year Woolly not for the want of trying though

I'll put my (ancient) candleabra (makes me sound like Liberace ) on the table with the LED taper candle I bought for Hallowe'en and wind some ivy round it (washed for spiders , obvs )

DH and DS are going to watch Venom 2 when we get home .
Improvement on the year he watched Peaky Fecking Blinders .
Not festive . I was not pleased

I forgot to ask about 'the Thing' 70 but I did wonder about it a few weeks ago.
I don't have a table centre either but I don't think it particularly matters now. FIL has had a positive pcr this morning so it's just the 2 of us tomorrow.
I'm gutted for them as this will be the second christmas they've had to spend just home on their own and FIL is feeling worse as the days are going on so I think he's going to feel rotten tomorrow.

I'm in work and struggling to find my spirit right now but I've got my Christmas jumper on and festive music playing.
I'm seeing my nephews and niece later so if I'm not feeling it by then they'll definitely help!

It's nice and calm here. Lunch is in the oven (fish n chips) and the cats are pacing up and down waiting for their lunch - or potentially mine if I drop it. 😂

DS phoned this morning; he had a temperature overnight plus sore throat and generally not feeling well. He has gone for a pcr but won't come until he gets the results because we will be seeing elderly relatives over the Christmas period ☹️.

puss from my recollection, 'the thing' is something 70 spots during her Christmas shopping for her dining room / table and once it's found, the table settings etc are worked around it - obv 70 can correct me if I got that wrong.

Constantly I'm so sorry about your ds. If his pcr comes back negative does he have far to travel? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you / him 🤞🏼

I think I've found my Christmas spirit in a bottle of M&S Buck's Fizz and some rum. My house is clean, we've had a last minute change of plans so my parents are coming to me for breakfast so I've put their presents on the little sofa like they did for me when I lived at home , I've laid the table ready for tomorrow and Chinese has been ordered.
Plus DHs pub plans have been cancelled so he's here with me.

Keeping fingers crossed that the result comes back really early! DD will be with us and we can always cook Christmas dinner on Boxing Day and have something else tomorrow.
For now, DH, DD and I are trying to have a nice supper having been to Mass (and called in at a pub for mulled wine).

One year it was blue/stag crackers from John Lewis so I bought a blue tablecover and used my silver accessories ( I have white plates and crockery)
One year it was a red/green paisley tablecover ( I love paisley ) and I bought some gorgeous paper napkins with the same colours .

I always try and work it in with what I have already . But this year any plates or bowls haven't grabbed me . I'd have liked the M&S Candy Cane if it was a big bowl or platter .

My DS had his PCR today (Drive Through) he's hacking like a seal , hot , achey .
I have a cough today and headache/sinuses blocked hoping it isn't the Covid , but I;m off till Wed and I have no more LFT till the new batch arive .
Bloody typical . My previous tests and PCR were negitive but so were DS till the other day

Even without Covid there's still flu about and that will make anyone feel rubbish and it;s not something you;d want a vunerable person to catch .

70, is it worth just ordering a postal PCR for now? If you weren't going anywhere soon, then it's a test, if nothing else! You can't release isolation without an LFT anyway. Of which there are none!

We've done loads of baking today, and the kids have requested an early night, so are tucked up in bed. We're eating snacks / drinking alcohol and watching Home Alone, then we'll move the presents and go to bed!

I have baked my mince pies this afternoon and about to finish off the trifle but have made the mistake of sitting down which is not a good idea.

Ah I'm grand. Been with boyfriend 6 months, he's spoilt me rotten. Kids are fine and we are in Cornwall at my folks for Christmas. It's amazing to get away from twat and Jabba (ex husband and his slut) and be able to relax ❤️

Sorry to see so many succumbing to the covid I know it's rife, but most on the thread seem to have avoided it until the last few wks.

DH and I both assumed the other had put a card through to NDNs...he ended up going out in the rain/dark with a torch. 🤦‍♀️

Puss, we actually managed to beat our neighbours to the card-giving this year. We finally didn't look bloody reactive! 🤦‍♀️🤣

This round of Covid does feel like we're all going to get it, doesn't it? If it's milder though, then that's not a worry really. But the timing could be better for some!

We've just finished the presents...we now need to stealth manoeuvre the stockings into the bedrooms! I might have to set an alarm for midnight, as they absolutely cannot be in the room before then!

After the year DS freaked when the elves left pyjamas on his bed, stockings are hung on the bookcase on the landing here! Plus makes my job easier.

I've finished wrapping, done the gravy, and washed my hair. That's it, now!

In case I don't get chance to come on tomorrow, Merry Christmas ladies, have a great one (or at least not a rubbish one, 70)

We stupidly told them that Santa puts the stockings in their room using magic, as DD was less than happy about him going into her room. Should've stick with outside the door! 🤣

We've done presents (DH spent at least double what we'd agreed though), had breakfast here with my parents, then went to Dsis to see the niece and nephews, delivered dinner to ILs as per promised meals on wheels service, ate, cleaned up and now sat with my M&S Bucks Fizz ready for a nap 🥱
