Here we go! From deepest, darkest, somewhere bloody dark! Apparently near Manchester. Maybe! Xmas Grin

Yes I'm hoping we won't need much. Mainly just milk and bread and things that aren't Christmassy.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 11/12/2021 08:44

That filtered milk has longer expiry dates. We always buy a bottle before going away, as it's got a few weeks' life in it. Handy to have for those occasions. You could freeze bread too, just in case.

Wreck they use implant grade titanium which has a low allergenic rate .
I tend to wear silver as its a purer metal than gold -unless you go for very high carat .which would then be too fragile (and ££)

I read after I had it done that its a piercing they do very slowly (good job I didn't know that before ) , but I was waiting for the "ouch" .........but then the piercer said "Ok that's the worst bit done" !

I don't intent to change it for months so won't be spending loads on new pieces .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/12/2021 10:56

DH and DS don't drink milk , DD and I use soya milk in our coffee /hot chocolate which has a really long use-by anyway .

I keep a pint of milk for Yorkshire Puddings for DS . And yes it freezes well though goes a bit watery ( I used to freeze a pint of whole milk then its more like semi . Didn't like whole milk fresh , too heavy )

WreckTangled · 11/12/2021 11:09

I don't like milk so doesn't bother me if we don't have any Grin we also only have one freezer so not loads of space.

My other piercings seem to be ok and they're titanium, just anything in my lobes so maybe I should try that.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 11/12/2021 12:23

Wreck if you buy the "own brand" filtered milk from Sains or Tesco (like Cravendale but cheaper) now, it will prob have a best before date for next yr. Keep in the fridge with a big neon DO NOT USE sticker and youthey'll be fine.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 11/12/2021 13:06

I would care about not having stuff in for my kids, even if I didn't like it!

As it is, it's the kids who can't have milk here and just aren't interested in non-dairy alternatives. We use loads though, hence the filtered stuff waiting for us when we get back from holiday!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 11/12/2021 14:05

The dc don't care much for milk either, dd sometimes drinks it but that's it. It's just dh and I'm not worried about him because I bet you all the money in the world he hasn't spent even a millisecond wondering where/when the food shopping will take place over the next few weeks Grin I didn't know that about the filtered milk though so will definitely get some of that.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 11/12/2021 14:26

That is annoying, Wreck. My DH is relatively engaged in the food-buying process at this time of year. He'd be out on his ear if he didn't assist with the buying / arranging, frankly!

I've been baking since I gig back from Aldi first thing. All done for today now!

I tend to let him off as he works 50 hours a week but it is really annoying.

Your bakes look delicious!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/12/2021 22:33

Ooh nice baking there Fluffy
If my DC are nice I might do a batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies ( I like the Martha Stewart Chewy'n'Crispy ones . Have to look up all the American conversions stick of butter and All Purpose Flour but they are delicious )

DH and DS are going to the Gym tomorrow so I might wander round town and have A Twitch or Two .

I have some Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate to try out too ..........

WreckTangled · 12/12/2021 07:43

13!

Morning everyone. DH is about to leave to try and get his booster at a place that has been accepting some walk ins. Hope they do it as it's 16 miles away so would be a big waste of time if they didn't.

I think it was fluffy that gave me my favourite cookie recipe, is that right? For chocolate chip anyway. My favourite oat and raisin one is from hummingbird bakery, they're amazing.

I almost finished one of my assignments yesterday, will just review it nearer the submission date. Such a relief. I will get marked down on my references as only 10% should be internet sources but the subject means it's a lot more (some of these are PDF's though and I don't know if that still counts?). Am going to try and make a big dent in my second assignment today and then make a lasagne for dinner.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 12/12/2021 07:53

Morning!

I'm going to have to do some chocolate chip cookies for the kids, as they wouldn't eat the cranberry and pecan ones from yesterday! Fussy buggers.

My back went twang last night. It's not done it since 2015, so I thought I was safe! It should be OK either today or tomorrow, hopefully. I have to go to the allotment today, so I shall see how bad it is then!

I was going to go and hunt a booster down today, but thankfully my hairdresser moved us to Friday night instead. So that saves me a trip across to the next town and spending loads in Booths, as I'd have had to go in!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 12/12/2021 08:46

Hope your back isn't too back fluffy. Dh has managed to get his booster.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 12/12/2021 08:52

It's fine today, Wreck. This is what it does periodically! 🤷‍♀️

Our booster place doesn't open until 10, so he's done well.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 12/12/2021 09:00

Oh good. Hopefully it stays that way, the last thing you want is to be in pain for the most wonderful time of the year Grin

This one is open 8-6 seven days a week which is impressive I think.

ConstantlyCooking · 12/12/2021 09:04

The baking looks lovely fluffy. I am marzipanning cakes today. So I can ice next weekend. Then most of the food is done. Just the turkey (but I have a frozen one from last year if necessary) and fresh veg to buy.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 12/12/2021 09:14

I've had a cookie for breakfast! DH forgot to make a loaf, so bacon sandwiches are shifted back to lunchtime! If we can find any bacon. Might have to pop to Aldi on my way back from the allotment! 🙈🤣

We're off to the retail park soon to look at sofas for the conservatory then home for a roast where I'll do my first attempt at homemade sausageMeat stuffing.

Had a lovely Christmassy day yesterday - my friend and her dd came over in the afternoon. We ended up watching Christmas chronicles with all the Christmas lights etc on, eating maltesers (and seeing off a bottle of Prosecco) Xmas Grin

Bit annoyed with Matalan - my c&c order hasn't come in so I logged in to my account where it says my order has been refunded but I've not had an email to say that and the money isn't back in my account either.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 12/12/2021 11:52

That's really crap, Crazy. Matalan can be a bit shit like that though.

I'm on my way back from the allotment after a load more wood chip wheeling! I think I'm done now though. I need DH to come and help me empty the bulk bag of weeds (well, ex-weeds; it's now compost!) when I'm off next week to finish the last bit, but that's a quick job, as I put the chippings there ready today.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 12/12/2021 14:42

We're just home. We both fell in love with a sofa in Sofology but it was £££££ so it's a no.
We also stopped in Costco as it was nearby and bought a few bit and there was an M&S in the retail park so I wandered in while DH was queuing / paying and found the clementine and cranberry Buck's Fizz at £4 Xmas Grin

I'm so annoyed with Matalan Fluffy. I've ordered from them a few times and never had an issue, even last year when people were kicking off about missing orders etc.
Even more annoying is that I went in to the shop earlier in the week and 4 of the 7 things I'd ordered were there.

I just want to know if it's going to arrive or if I should go and replace the things I'd ordered.

Also, DH just gave me a heart attack as he's been watching the last 10 mins of F1 🙄

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 12/12/2021 16:26

I've heard that the F1 was nail biting!

What's the sofa like, Crazy? Is there a similar, cheaper, one elsewhere?

I've actually been sitting down this afternoon. I'm so glad I cleaned the kitchen (etc!) yesterday, as I didn't have it in me today! I've watched the end of The Grinch, then Arthur Christmas and we're now watching Tom & Jerry's Nutcracker. I'm doing my cross stitch (I'd lost my stitching mojo for a couple of weeks). It's been nice...I don't often sit and relax like this!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 12/12/2021 17:33

Yes apparently the F1 went completely to the wire and DH was conflicted because he didn't know whose side he was on 🙄

Fluffy the sofa was a leather corner sofa with electric recliners on each end plus you could put the headrest up, down or at whatever angle you want. It was so comfy but it was over £3k and it's not even for the main room in the house.
I'm looking at it second hand ones too - haven't seen anything suitable yet but we're not in a rush at all.

Sounds like you're having a lovely afternoon. Is the T&J nutcracker any good? And what are you stitching?

We've just eaten our roast. Homemade stuffing was a success but I'm going to add an apple for additional sweetness for Christmas dinner.
Now gearing up for an evening of Christmas films and present wrapping [fmile]

WreckTangled · 12/12/2021 17:37

Fluffy I was saying to dh earlier that I wish I was one of those people who always enjoyed being busy all the time but the truth is I just really enjoy doing nothing Grin

Crazy I haven't wrapped anything yet 😱 haven't had a chance. I have just made two lasagnes though (one low carb one normal)

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 12/12/2021 17:40

Oh, I enjoy doing nothing, I just don't have / don't give myself the time to do so very often though I do wonder at people who say they don't sit down til late during the week, as I definitely glue my arse to the sofa at a reasonable time then!

I've just started the second half of my Santa train, Crazy.

The sofa sounds lovely, but definitely on the dear side, especially for the conservatory! Could you fit the recliner in your living room and move that sofa to the conservatory?
