Here we go! From deepest, darkest, somewhere bloody dark! Apparently near Manchester. Maybe! Xmas Grin

Good news re your DD wreck and great wrapping!
I have just heard we're closing 2 days early for Christmas which will be useful- although I will be wfh.

WreckTangled · 14/12/2021 15:21

I've finished! Every single present wrapped including dh's birthday ones in Christmas paper now I need a nap.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 14/12/2021 15:24

DD has Covid in her class. The girls she normally sits with! We've not been asked to test daily, as per the new rule, so she can't be deemed a close contact. I suppose as it came on over the weekend. 🤷‍♀️ (Well, one found out due to random testing, as she's totally fine!)

Well done on wrapping, Wreck. I've decided against wrapping stocking gifts, even though it's only tissue paper because I've bought too many!

Constantly, when are you finishing now? Not sure why all schools aren't just giving up a bit early. It would make more sense.

Oh, that's cruel, Wreck! I'd never wrap DH's birthday presents in Christmas paper...that's a no no for the poor sods with Christmas birthdays!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 14/12/2021 15:35

Meh dh is going to be 36 so I think he will survive. I did put it inside out so you can't see that Christmas pattern Grin

WreckTangled · 14/12/2021 15:36

Does the daily testing apply to under 16's? (I haven't got a clue)

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 14/12/2021 17:42

Yes, from age 5 according to the info sent by school.

Inside out is better. Just! I couldn't bring myself to do it though. 🤣

Our work Christmas do got cancelled today, after they asked yesterday who didn't want to go anymore. I'm guessing too many people cancelled to make it viable. I'd already cancelled beforehand, so I'm not disappointed!

I've done more overtime today. It's tiring (and boring, frankly)! I was just about to finish today when an offer came in, so I had to deal with that quickly before I finished. I think the client was impressed with me still being about to message him!

Just dusting off my Christmas name change. Well first time I have really used it, I forgot about it last year.

ConstantlyCooking · 14/12/2021 22:43

We finish tomorrow afternoon instead of Friday. (We wanted to give parents time to organise childcare). We are preparing for teaching online for a week after the holidays whilst hoping we won't need to.
We have more staff and students off than at anytime during the pandemic.

ConstantlyCooking · 15/12/2021 00:12

10
I have iced two cakes and written some cards.
I have my booster tomorrow later today and will finish cards and parcels.
I am debating whether to send some gifts now in case we can't meet between Christmas and New Year.
Good night!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 15/12/2021 06:18

We don't finish til Tuesday! 😭😭😭

I'd send them, Constantly. Definitely!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 15/12/2021 06:20

Mine both finish Friday. I don't know how many cases dds school have had but the head said they've been substantially affected, both pupils and staff.

Ds has his school trip to the panto today which he's looking forward to. I've got a blood test and busy work day.

CrazyBaubles · 15/12/2021 09:00

Well done on the wrapping Wreck

It's One of my best mates birthday on 21st Dec and she often gets birthday presents wrapped in Christmas paper. She doesn't care - her only gripe is when people give her one present to cover both things.

No word here about DHs school finishing early so I think he's in until Friday.

I have tomorrow off which will be spent popping to town to replace the things that haven't turned up in the Matalan order (😡), wrapping them then watching CCFs all afternoon

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 15/12/2021 10:00

DH hates his birthday (23rd) being linked with Christmas at all (which is quite hard with two small kids who are seriously excited by that point! Xmas Grin ). I do try to separate it as much as possible.

Christmasalwayshappenstome · 15/12/2021 14:32

It's my birthday on the 19th Crazy and I get the occasional present wrapped in Christmas paper but not often.

ConstantlyCooking · 15/12/2021 17:52

DSis has a January birthday and used to suspect she was regifted lots of unwanted Christmas stuff!
Sitting here having just had my booster!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 15/12/2021 18:01

I now have about 50 tasks between now and Christmas Eve! So I'm getting there. Two days to go. Xmas Grin

My booster is tomorrow. I'm glad they've abandoned the 15 minute wait though, means I can get back ASAP.

Woolly, how did your booster go? Did you require DS to keep you plied with food and drink today?

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 15/12/2021 18:44

It went well Fluffy - there were loads of people waiting for a walk in but the queues were manageable and even made the local paper. Being polite and terribly British we joined the back of the queue but a lovely volunteer came and looked for us just before our scheduled appointment time and took us straight through. Everything went smoothly and I can report no significant side effects apart from a really sore upper arm but even that is about 75% gone today.

My DDs are booked in for the end of next week - not ideal timing so close to Christmas but they will be very well looked after here and won't have to worry about cooking meals etc at hotel mum and dad.

They are very disappointed as they have decided to cancel their Paris trip. The travel company have said that as there are no restrictions in place then they could technically still travel. The cost of tests for travelling is prohibitive for a three day trip so they've lost all their money as there are no refunds. So sad and angry on their behalf.

Be prepared to feel a bit sleepy Fluffy I've had a nap today and yesterday and don't usually feel tired during the day so I'm putting down to the booster.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 15/12/2021 19:01

Oh no, I hope not! I actually have to be vaguely alert on Friday morning as I have a conference with a barrister and a client. 😱 Hopefully I won't nod off!

Wouldn't the travel company even let them move the trip, Woolly? I think most are being more understanding than that. Name and shame!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 15/12/2021 19:11

My nap was probably a combo of booster and sitting in a comfy chair listening to an audiobook. I've functioned normally when I'm doing stuff and concentrating.

I don't know the name of the firm. They have already moved it free of charge as the original booking was for April 2020. I vaguely remember that it might have been moved twice but this time they want £200+ per person to move to February half term and £300+ to move to Easter.

WreckTangled · 15/12/2021 21:17

That's really rubbish woolly Sad

Fluffy hopefully you'll be fine. I'm sure I was after mine, I expect if I had laid down I would have fallen asleep but that's no different to any other day Grin how's your back?

Dh has annoyed me this evening by just lying on the sofa whilst I sort out mountains of washing Hmm no offer of help.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 15/12/2021 23:01

Washing sorting is DH's job here!

My back really hurts. I've established that it's from wheelbarrow usage at the allotment. Thank god that's done with!

Woo hoo!

Christmas lunch day for ds today and they get to wear a Christmas jumper.

It's so dark, I can't wait for the days to get a bit longer I feel tired all the time. 🥱
