Here we go! From deepest, darkest, somewhere bloody dark! Apparently near Manchester. Maybe! Xmas Grin

So sad about the poor boy. It sounds like he had had to face so much in his short life. The safeguarding side of teaching can be so depressing- I couldn't do social work, The problem is that some people are convincing when challenged. It will be interesting to see what comes out of the case review,

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 03/12/2021 08:21

It appears that it's the non-Covid bug. He's brighter today too, which is something. It's been a long half term, he's probably knackered as much as anything else.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 03/12/2021 17:49

One of our patients has covid so we have all had to do a pcr test. This could be interesting if we are all asymptomatic.

The test has left such a nasty taste in my mouth that I can't get rid of - bllleeurghh

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 03/12/2021 22:28

At least it's not the new variant, Why, as you'd all have to isolate!

Bailey's is on offer at Sainsbury's, ending on Weds, at £10/l. I've ordered one, to have on Christmas Day instead of a blag one! So. Much. Booze. Xmas Grin (I got 4 more Moscato last week in the 25% off for 6, but they subbed my 2 Sauv Blanc rosè, so I sent those back and was refunded the 100% value!.

Morning!

We had our first night on the new mattress last night...Oh. My. God. Best night's sleep in such a long time! We went to bed early as we were both knackered, and I had 8.5 hours' sleep! Xmas Shock

Weather is wet and windy, but there's been a delivery of wood chippings at the allotment, which I need, so I'm going at first light to sort those out for the path I'm making. Exciting times, but at least it'll be done for the weekend then!

Morning! Fluffy I went to bed at 8:30 and woke up at 7:30 Grin

We're going to London today, after I've done all the washing. Will be avoiding Covent Garden as it's always too busy there.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 04/12/2021 10:03

Morning.
DH woke me up at 5 cheers for that so we ended up in Asda at 7 (you have to pay to park after 8) then hoovered thru, cleaned the ensuite, poked the cats 😹 and prepped the veg for lunch.
fluffy check the weather forecast for Tues pm and early Wed am. It might be a bit blowy again understatement 🕯
why I hope you're ok.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 04/12/2021 11:16

Can't say it's exactly non-windy right now, Puss, either! 🤣😱

I've converted a big pile of chippings into ground-covering. My next door but one plot neighbour told me to put old compost bags under as weed suppressant (and another plot neighbour told me to stab a few holes in each bag so they don't wet waterlogged), so a load of bags and about 15 barrows later, I'm done for today. DH needs to help me move the bulk bag of bindweed roots, so I can do that bit as well, but I've done most of it!

I couldn't go to bed that early, Wreck, as I like some evening to myself!

That's a lot of barrowing! looking at the forecast, you've more wind now than on Tues/Wed 🤯 which might turn into storm Barra.

WreckTangled · 04/12/2021 12:25

I don't have a choice really, I get exhausted so have to go to bed.

CrazyBaubles · 04/12/2021 19:07

How was London Wreck?

I'm a bit frazzled this evening. Today I've had my booster jab, picked up a c&c order, delivered my presents for the Santa scheme I signed up for, collected our Christmas trees from one garden centre, pots from another, been in to town, walked ddog, cleaned my house and dropped DH off for his work night out.
I'm now surrounded by Christmas decorations and trying to will myself to put them up. I'm not doing the tree tonight though - that can be an enjoyable job tomorrow when everything else is done and I've tidied up again

Our trees aren't the sizes we were aiming for - I wanted 6ft ish inside and 4ft ish outside but the options were a bit rubbish and we've ended up with near identical 5ft ones for both 😂 It's not perfect but I'm sure when I'm thrown lights at them both (and baubles on the inside one) that I'll like them more Xmas Smile

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/12/2021 20:06

Oh busy days you're all having !

I had a lazy breakfast , (croissants for DC and me , eggs for DH) cursed again at the non -non stick of the frying pan .
Washed DD bedding and got through three loads of other laundry

Took the car to the carwash ( Yesco one with the brush and squirty high pressure not the one that whirls round and swipes your ariel )

Went to late shopping with DD , bought a couple of things . Lots of people just milling about randomly , maybe trying to kid themselves they're enjoying the whole shopping experience ?
Answer -no don;t think anyone is .

It doesn;t feel like three weeks from here .till The Big Day .
We'll do the decorations this week , get the lit wreath up , the lights .
No tree , I;m not even going to try to plea bargain with the cats .

Need to do some serious tidying before the decorating though .
Bathroom and downstair loo first , then kitchen.

We have defrosted the freezer in the garage so it needs cleaned and switched on before we can fill it again.

My DC have the Cadbury Advent Calendar that is like a tall house ( it was about £9) So far days 1-2 Curly Wurlys and days 3-4 Chomp bars Xmas Hmm . Hopefully something different tomorrow .

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 04/12/2021 20:19

I made frangipani mince pies earlier...they're amazing!

I'm absolutely wiped out now, after all my barrowing.

The wind is pretty bonkers out there. Now it's stopped raining, DH has put the washing out for a couple of hours. It should do quite well, as long as it stays put! 🤣🤣

DH did the second coat in the bathroom earlier. It looks really nice! I'm painting the kitchen tomorrow, after I've cleaned.

Ooh very nice Fluffy what d'you use as the frangipani bit ? Is it like a Bakewell tart/pudding mix ?

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 04/12/2021 20:52

Yes, I assume so, not having made them before! Butter, sugar, flour, ground almonds and egg (should've been almond essence, but I'd missed that, and wasn't about to go and buy any, just for 1/2 a teaspoon!).

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 04/12/2021 22:07

70 I'd be beyond disappointed with curly wurlys and chomps from an advent calendar - I don't eat either of them.

What colour is your bathroom paint Fluffy? We struggled to choose when we moved here - it was bright, headache inducing yellow.

I think some side effects are starting to kick in. I'm all shivery and my arm is really really sore and achey 😩

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 04/12/2021 22:36

Oh no, Crazy. Paracetamol and bedtime, maybe?

It's called Moonlight White from Wilko. It's cream, in reality!

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/12/2021 22:41

Ouch ! I had the booster Covid 2 months ago ( ok , bit of a sore arms and really tired after ) Flu jab was worse , I was unwell for 5 days . Xmas Sad

Headache , sinus pain, joint pain. Not flu/cold just meh . I went into work and felt sorry for myself , demanded sympathy Xmas Grin

Chomps are just CurlyWurly without the exotic cut outs !

I'm dragging my beloved DS to the barber tomorrow with instructions to Please Sort Him / Make Him Less Scruffy as I push him through the door .
I'm preparing for the little Grizzly Adams to be transformed into Jack Grealish (not really but somewere under the fur my son has a lovely little face and killer cheekbones )

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 04/12/2021 23:07

Keep up the paracetamol etc Crazy, that's what I do after all the jabs.

You will all be pleased to know I am lurgy free, that has been a long day waiting for that result to come in.

CrazyBaubles · 04/12/2021 23:17

That's great news why!

How long is your DHs hair 70? Longish hair is kind of in now isn't it?
I know my nephew is a lot younger than your ds but I get a little pang whenever he has a trim because I love his long hair (it only gets trimmed to keep his curls out of his eyes).
He does have a 'pretend trim' every now and again though because he loves the hairdressers. He's funny about sensations (likely autism) and really enjoys having hands through his hair so as a treat they sometimes go in and the hairdresser pretends to give him a cut (she's a lovely woman).

Paint sounds nice Fluffy, although I don't envy you the job. I bloody hate painting - when we moved I managed to delay the little bit we had to do for long enough that DH did it on his own in half term. I couldn't help as I had to work you see 😉 😂

I hadn't actually taken any paracetamol until around 20 mins ago because apart from the arm ache I felt fine. It's so odd, but I'm glad to say the majority of my lights and ornaments are up so I'm in my PJs, all 'big lights' are off and I'm going to put something festive on. Possibly just a playlist or something.

I can't go to bed - DH forgot to take his key so I'll have to let him in and if I fall asleep in bed there's pretty much no way he'll be able to wake me as I'm so tired.
Previously I would have left the door unlocked but some young lad was trying doors a few streets away last week so I'm not doing that now.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/12/2021 23:22

His hair has a wave to it Crazy he looks like The Joker if it gets long .
Usuallly has the sides short and some length on top .
(His barber told him his lovely thick hair will be from my side of the family . The males on my side have lovely hair , his Dad's side ......... well I remind him how lucky he is to have my genes Xmas Grin )

Now he's working he needs to shed his student patina and scrub up !

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 05/12/2021 07:14

I've been awake a while as I have a headache...annoying, as I'd hoped for another amazing sleep! But I mixed beer and wine yesterday, so it's my own fault. 🤣🤣

Cleaning and painting are today's jobs. Then sitting and cross stitching once done!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 05/12/2021 07:52

Morning!

Was good thanks crazy we got home just before 9. We didn't pack too much in the highlight for the children was the pug sitting opposite us on the train on the way home Grin hope you're feeling better this morning?

I'm doing uni work today and dh is putting the tree up with the dc and dd has a friend coming round so I've promised a roast Confused

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/12/2021 11:37

Tree day for us too Wreck. How funny that the pug was the highlight. Good job you didn't blow £££ on grottoes or West End shows. How is your DD now - are things settling for her?

Crazy I can't wait to bring out my new Christmas Tree serving dish. It's been under the sideboard since the summer.

Fluffy hope the fuzzy head doesn't last too long.

Puss hope your DH has recovered fully 💩

70 DS's school have quite strict rules about hairstyles and DS is insisting that once he leaves school he's growing it long. As he hopes to have a music career he'll rock it pun fully intended

why glad you've dodged the lurgy. Long may it continue.

Constantly I've got one present and one stocking filler to arrive. The Funko set won't be in stock until sometime next year so I've cancelled it and ordered something else. I'm knitting DD1 some socks and once I've finished them then I can wrap the stocking fillers - hopefully next weekend. I keep mithering about my order from the butcher and I'm still chopping and changing my Tesco order.

Apologies if I've missed anyone.

CrazyBaubles · 05/12/2021 12:49

Jealous of your DS's thick wavy hair 70 - mine is fairly thin and dead straight.

Wreck do the simplest roast possible (or get DH to help).

Woolly I took all the ornaments etc off the Welsh dresser we have and put some Christmas bits on there - the Spode Christmas gravy boat is now on display as I love it so much Xmas Grin

I still feel rubbish - my arm has that awful dull ache, headache and temp plus I came on overnight 😡

Also, mini rant - the classic fm app doesn't have one of the playlists it had last year and I'm irritated. They had a classical Christmas film one that had some lovely music on but there's no sigh of it this year.

I've dosed myself up though and am about to set myself to decorating the tree with headphones in blasting Christmas music so hopefully I'll cheer myself up soon 😂
