Ah but banana bread is good for using up the dodgy over ripe ones

And my carrot cake is nekkid Firefly Xmas Grin

There's a Twitched thread on here , I just bought my DD a lovely coat (Superdry)
I did check she wanted it first , and it will keep the wee soul warm on the railway platform so not a frivolous Twitch Xmas Wink

Had to make sure Superdry was an acceptable brand (it is) she likes Urban Outfitters but they were either jackets or duvets .
And she'd rather eat her own spleen than be seen in M&S ( they are clothes for folk like me . Apparently )

ConstantlyChristmas · 22/12/2021 22:27

Fluffy -thank you for the tip te checking stock in Sainsbury's. I have a few nearby so it will be useful!
Thank you for the congratulations on finishing wrapping. Unfortunately, auto-correct means I misled you- I have finished everyone except those who will be here! But thank you anyway Xmas Grin
The cake looks delicious fluffy. I admit I make banana bread just for the cream cheese frosting!

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/12/2021 22:44

I hope your DH has a good birthday tomorrow Fluffy

Puss somewhere I have a recipe for carrot cake that doesn't have fruit or nuts (or eggs) in and tastes like Jamaica ginger cake. I haven't made it for ages as I'm the only one that eats it so I used to do it for school bake sales and the like.

I wrapped the last two presents this evening. We pulled the plug on travelling after Christmas so yesterday was a bit frantic wrapping all the stuff we should have been taking to the rellies and giving out at SIL's party. I sent 3 parcels guaranteed next day delivery and only one has arrived. I know I can claim a refund for the postage costs but it seems a bit grabby given it's probably due to low staff levels in the current circumstances. However, I'm sure Royal Mail can afford it.

I've got the butcher stuff to pick up tomorrow and I'm going to buy a Yule log if I can find one at Aldi. I would normally make one but just can't be arsed. Then I'm on chauffeuring duties taking both DDs for their boosters before collapsing and "checking" we have enough Christmas booze 🥃

ConstantlyChristmas · 23/12/2021 04:40

Good morning all! 2
In DD's words it's Christmas Eve Eve!
Top of my list today I'd 'buy turkey'

ConstantlyChristmas · 23/12/2021 04:42

Is not I'd!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2021 06:35

Christmas Eve Eve is spot on ConstantlyDD Xmas Grin

Happy Birthday MrFluffy

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 23/12/2021 07:15

Morning!

I have a headache...not enough fluid yesterday due to the cinema visit (Clifford was ace if you have kids of a suitable age!).

DH also pissed me off in that he had almost 3 hours in the house and did bog all that was useful / helpful in that time. Not even put a bag of Christmas cards away which he got out. Xmas Angry

I may need a new patio for Christmas!

Ah Fluffy you need to Trade Him In
He's a year older and probably out of warranty now

You'll have spare storage room in the freezer after Saturday , you can dig a hole in the allotment without raising suspicion and we'll ALL give you an iron clad water tight alibi Xmas Wink

Carriemac · 23/12/2021 09:00

My carrot cake - substituted pecans for the walnuts and used my vintage decs

My work friend said that about the allotment...said I should ask DH if he'd like to be potato fertiliser for next year!

ConstantlyChristmas · 23/12/2021 13:35

I have a turkey!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2021 13:45

There were millions ( ok , a few) turkeys of all shapes/sizes/varieties ( I am not an expert on turkeys at all as you can tell) in Sainsburys this morning so they're most likely anticipating a stampede !

I bought chicken for DS (two chicken breasts , free range Taste The Difference ) I;ll roast them , trim off some offcuts for the cats .

Poor DH got his Positive PCR today and my DS LFT has 2 lines

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2021 16:55

I always wash our Christmas Bedding on the 23rd/24th so its nice for Christmas ( DD has hers put on Nov 1st , the rest of us wait till Dec but I DO wash it in between , not a complete slattern Xmas Grin )

So this morning to DS "Can you strip your bedding off" ?

Why? It;s not Christmas yet , why are you taking off my Christmas bedding ? mutter mutter .

Xmas Confused

I have unfortunately turned his new white/candy cane pillowcases pink because his red bedding (ted with snowflakes) leaches colour after goodness knows how many years .
I don;t think he'll mind or even notice !

Chocolate brownie made and some chocolate chip cookies baked .
Booked a PCR drive through for DS tomorrow

CrazyBaubles · 23/12/2021 17:23

How are they all feeling 70?

I think our Christmas plans are going to scuppered here - we were meant to be hosting FIL & SMIL however they're both feeling under the weather and FILs lft had a very faint positive line this morning so they're awaiting pcr results.
We've already said we'll provide a meals on wheels service if they can't come but it's still rubbish.
Plus the person we're getting our Turkey from has called DH today to warn us that they're bloody huge this year (smallest one is 14lbs) Xmas Shock

I took a mid afternoon work break and did the food shop with DH today. Not sure why I thought it was be busy but ok - a whole 5 mins in and DH was losing patience rapidly so we were as quick as possible.
I'm not convinced I bought enough cheese but never mind - I'm sure it'll be fine 🤷‍♀️

I'm back at work until 6 now to make up for being gone too!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 23/12/2021 18:07

Crazy, you need to Buy. More. Cheese. Always buy more cheese!

I have approx 12 to be collected and a few in the fridge too! I hate being under-stocked for cheese. 🧀 🤣

Covid is having an effect on so many Christmases this year. I think more will be disrupted this year than last, by actual 'illness', not laws.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2021 18:14

Ahh they are poorly but not worryingly poorly (DS says he will manage -and be able to taste- a takeaway pizza ) . We have a takeaway as our Tradition on the 23rd .

I have some Wendsleydale to eat with fruitcake Fluffy Xmas Grin

And a Christmas Fridge

CrazyBaubles · 23/12/2021 20:48

Fluffy we're ok for cheese - I forgot that I'd bought some last week Xmas Blush Now DH thinks we have too much and doesn't believe me when I say that's not possible!

70 I love that your ds is still insisting on the traditional take away 🍕

I finished work, did a last load of washing, watered plants, cleaned the kitchen, put tea on (while DH took the dog out) and put on the brushed cotton tartan bedding. I'm not sure why but I could close my eyes and sleep now 🥱

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 23/12/2021 22:43

Your DH still needs some training, Crazy! Too much cheese?! Never!

70, I hope your household doesn't get too ill.

We've been out for dinner at a family pub with a little soft play-type area tonight. The kids loved it! We then went to a lights trail, then into town to look at the 'tree' (lit metal cone structure). Noticed DS stimming for the first time, so need to note that for his assessment in Feb. I think he must've been over-stimulated / excited.

I need to go to bed, as I'm going shopping early doors. Just need to finish my wine!

CrazyBaubles · 24/12/2021 00:10

🎄 1 🎄 Merry Christmas Eve!!

Fluffy I forgive DH for his cheese comment because he doesn't really eat it and I do have a tendency to buy so much I'm still eating it in mid Jan Xmas Grin

My nephew has some stimming rituals (not sure that's the right phrase), mostly related to textures- he likes stroking certain things but in a very particular way when he's stressed/ upset / tired and he sort of tugs gently at his hair when he's excited.

I'm about to go to sleep now, ready for a busy but hopefully lovely Christmas Eve. I've got a bottle of the M&S Buck's Fizz in the fridge for as soon as I finish work 🥂

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 24/12/2021 06:23

Morning!

I'm just getting up to go to Booths (plus Aldi and B&M - all on the same retail park and all opening at 7)!

WreckTangled · 24/12/2021 07:46

I'm baaaaack! Just getting ready for work. 🥱

ConstantlyChristmas · 24/12/2021 08:10

Hope you had a successful tri fluffy
I thought I had finished my shopping yesterday but then realised I had left a couple of things off the list so need a quick shop today.
I am still having bouts of. Covid tiredness - I suddenly feel all my energy drain out of me, but at least I can taste things. I have a busy morning then (hopefully) a more relaxed afternoon to finish wrapping and help DD with the gingerbread house. I bought sugar glue this year for it! I will check in later. Have a lovely Christmas Eve!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/12/2021 08:47

Xmas Grin Christmas Eve Xmas Grin

I am not venturing anywhere near the shops today , unless I can find a chemist/pharmacy that has the LFT - there's a sentence you'd never imagine being uttered . Usually it would be bread/milk but I bought some yesterday and I put the breadmaker on last night Xmas Grin

Todays plan (foodwise) is mainlining coffee (in process) then toast .
DD wants pancakes when I get home with DS .
Later will be triple cooked chips, grills (for the vegetarians) fish fingers for DS ,brochilli (its in the fridge looking judgey at me ) salad and dips .

Enjpy your last minute planning everyone .
Booths on Christmas Eve sounds a potential nightmare but they will hopefully run things like clockwork (our nearest Waitrose do )
