Oh Happy Birthday Christmas Xmas Grin

Wreck I haven't been to Edinburgh for ages (DD and I went shopping there 5 years ago , mainly Princes Street I lived there for a year back in the early 80s , no doubt it has changed a lot )

DD is still achey and rough (I have dosed her with fluid and paracetamol )
DH is dog rough and now had a positive Covid test Xmas Sad
I did a lateral flow which is negitive .

I'll test again tomorrow , and get DS and DD to test .
Out of all of us, I;m the one who is going out every day ( NHS worker) .
DS hasn't been out this week
DD has been to University twice and her booster yesterday
DH is WFH , hes only been out to collect LFT .

'tis the Law of Sod isn't it ?

WreckTangled · 19/12/2021 10:44

Oh no 70 so sorry. Were you planning on seeing family over Christmas?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/12/2021 10:58

No , I'm seeing my Mum in January , no plans to do any travelling .

It's just you don;r want any of this at Christmas

Busy week at work too (depending on my LFT going forwards )

WreckTangled · 19/12/2021 10:58

Yes agreed, it's really crap timing Sad

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 19/12/2021 11:26

Oh no, 70. However, maybe one of you was asymptomatic and gave it to him (depending on whether / when you've been testing)? The chances of picking it up from a brief trip out is minimal, surely?

At least you don't have to isolate now, with the daily test thing.

Christmas Happy Birthday 🎉🎂
70 Oh no! Your poor DH.

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/12/2021 16:12

Happy Birthday Christmas

Sorry to hear about the positive test in your household 70. Hope everyone else stays negative and your DH doesn't feel too bad.

ConstantlyCooking · 19/12/2021 19:36

Happy birthday Christmas! Fingers crossed for your family 70. We have had a few times over the last year when one positive member of the household didn't infect anyone else.

CrazyBaubles · 19/12/2021 20:55

Happy Birthday Christmas 🥳🥳

Really rubbish timing 70 - hopefully the symptoms will pass quickly for everyone and even if you're all isolating, everyone will feel ok for Christmas?

When DH had Covid he had barely any symptoms and although I did LFTs daily and a pcr on day 2 and 8, all my results were negative so it is definitely possibly for one member of the house to have it but not infect anyone else.

Enjoy Edinburgh Wreck

I'm just home from seeing Beauty and the beast then a Christmas meal out with my parents. It's been a lovely day and ended up with DH surprising me with a new slim prelit Christmas tree 🎄 Xmas Shock

ConstantlyChristmas · 19/12/2021 23:11

Feeling very Christmassy after seeing A Christmas Carol - so thought I would try a festive name change!

Morning!

It's my first day off today. Whoop! I have a few bits to do in town then it's home for a bit more cleaning. The excitement! 🤣

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 20/12/2021 07:30

Morning.
Sainsburys was quiet at 6am Xmas Grin and Asda was quieter at 6.45 Xmas Grin
We won't need litter/whiskas, loo roll and kitchen roll for a while. The only thing I couldn't get was rubber gloves, but I've a spare so can wait a while.
I need to give the kitchen a bit of a scrub later too. I could do it now, but it's too dark to see what you're doing, even with the lights on.

WreckTangled · 20/12/2021 07:43

Morning! Everyone is asleep still which is annoying as I want to get up and about! But I also want da to have a decent sleep. Everything looked so Christmassy last night.

ConstantlyCooking · 20/12/2021 08:43

Good morning! I am sending parcels this morning then into town for Christmas shopping with DD.
I will do a big supermarket shop tomorrow as my Sainsbury's order arrives tomorrow morning.

CrazyBaubles · 20/12/2021 08:54

Morning. Work for me today followed by my flu jab. Exciting.

DH is off but I'm not sure of his plans. I'm hoping they include walking the dog and doing some cleaning tbh. Ive only got one day off this week (for our anniversary) so I'm leaving it to him to get the house ship shape and everything organised for Christmas

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 20/12/2021 09:12

Crazy I think you've finally broken your DH...I mean, he bought you a tree Xmas Grin I have every confidence in him.

I was thinking this too! Well done, Crazy! Xmas Grin

My supermarket shop is coming tomorrow too, Constantly. I don't actually need much, as I have most of what I need already, given we're having buffet on the day and don't have guests until after my next shop.

Have fun today, Wreck.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 20/12/2021 10:29

I agree puss, I've definitely broken him - when I got home last night he'd set the new tree up and used a smart plug so it was switched on just before I walked in.
He also commented on how nice the house looks with the way I've done the decs the other day too Xmas Shock

What sort of buffet are you having on the day Fluffy?
It's all very traditional when we're home - roast on the day then cold meats, pickles and (fresh) roasties from Boxing Day until you can't face it anymore 😂

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 20/12/2021 10:34

Cheese, BBQ'd salmon side, pigs in blankets, crisps, dips, Indian / Chinese party food, mini pies, homemade sausage rolls, pizza. That kind of thing, Crazy. It's easier with the kids and they hate roast dinners!

We do a roast on another day. Meant to be 1 Jan this year but may get moved forwards!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 20/12/2021 10:47

Sounds good Fluffy. My sister does something similar - they have a roast on Christmas Eve then have cold meat and party food type bits laid out on Christmas Day.
At some point in the afternoon BIL will cook a huge batch of chips for the table and later in the afternoon they add some desserts.
The 2 youngest eat more this way as they're both too excited for a proper dinner - with the buffet they literally play then graze all day, and the eldest isn't fussed on a roast so it works for him too.

We enjoy the roast when we're here because we try and do something completely different when we're away (we've had a nice steak dinner, a Chinese, we had some meal I can't remember the name of once which was essentially dumplings and rice in sauce). Plus for DH, the one thing about Christmas he really loves is the cooking and having a Turkey dinner Xmas Smile

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 20/12/2021 11:43

Chips! Bloody good idea that!

I'm having steak when we eat out on Thursday for DH's birthday. Can't wait!

I'm a firm believer in doing what works, especially with likely-ASD DS.

Just remembered we have a ham and tray of baklava from Booths for the buffet! Puss, we might need you to help us eat it all!

OP posts:
PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 20/12/2021 13:15

fluffy you'll still be eating that lot next year!!
except the cheese, that'll go first
🧀🐭

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 20/12/2021 14:47

Puss, I've just checked the baklava... we're gonna need a hand with this lot!

I reckon we have enough food to keep us going til Easter...I always bloody do this at Christmas. 🙄🤣 🐷

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 20/12/2021 16:19

That baklava looks amazing 🤤 full of dairy, obviously!

DD is still unwell, and is so clingy. She literally isn't happy whatever I do/don't do, and I can't get anything done.

I haven't been able to get anything done for nearly two weeks, now. And Santa has misplaced the only bloody thing DS has asked for 🙄

DD was supposed to be at nursery today, and I had a lovely Christmassy day planned for DS and I, which I have cancelled because of the numbers. So instead we went for a walk to some local wetlands, and he has spent most of the rest of the day watching TV while I try to placate DD.

And work rejected my flexible working request, which means I have had to mess around arranging childcare for the other day, and I won't get to spend time with DD apart from at the weekend. I'm especially not happy, though, because the reasons they have given for rejecting are either ridiculously vague ('detrimental impact on the business'!!) Or else they're more due to me not working FT hours!
