They were going to and I put the kybosh on it. If all our staff who couldn't work from home had to SI we would have no business left.

FlamingGoat · 13/11/2021 08:45

Yes. Enforced jollity in a room crammed with others. Preorderd food and covid passports at the ready.
Luckily it's on my birthday so I can't go 😉

ChildrenGrowingUpTooFast · 13/11/2021 08:46

Yes. And we aren’t doing Covid passports or any tests. I don’t know if I want to go but it’s bad form not to.

happytoday73 · 13/11/2021 08:46

Nope and neither is my former workplace... I think some people will have small get togethers

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 13/11/2021 08:47

Unlikely but would only be a lunch or dinner as a small team- last year they sent us John Lewis pamper things to compensate- I preferred the gift

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 13/11/2021 08:48

Yes. Ours is always well funded and good fun, but I'm having a wobble about going. I am quite happily going out and doing stuff, but it's a lot of people in the middle of December and the possible impact on Christmas events if I get pinged that is worrying me now.

SpringRainbow · 13/11/2021 08:50

Yes, but we are a remote team from all over the UK. So they have picked a location and if you can/ want to travel you are welcome to join them.

I don’t want to go, nothing to do with Covid. I just don’t want to go.

I never even bothered checking where it is.

Nidan2Sandan · 13/11/2021 08:50

Unlikely, my team is spread out across the full corners of England so a get together is a massive undertaking and we havent managed it yet.

LoveComesQuickly · 13/11/2021 08:51

Yes, a fairly low key lunchtime thing. I'm looking forward to it.

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 13/11/2021 08:51

Yes, but not till January. I work in hospitality and serve people food all day in a fully booked restaurant. Not sure what difference having a Christmas party will make to us tbh!

A mums and baby group I used to go to and used to help at has cancelled theirs. I think some of the helpers raised concerns as they are a good bit older. Even with boosters, they just aren't happy to go and it seems mean to go ahead without them. So fair enough.

NothingIsWrong · 13/11/2021 08:56

Yes, but lunchtime in a pub so no drinking as it's back to the office after

addictedtotheflats · 13/11/2021 09:02

No, we have been told no mass gatherings out of work. We work in NHS and our department (and our sister department) has over 200 staff so you can imagine the implications if we were tack and traced.

KatherineJaneway · 13/11/2021 09:03

Yes. There will be a main one you can go to that covers the whole organisation but I am not going to that one. I am split over two teams so am going to a lunch with one team and a lunch and evening event with the other. Neither is mandatory, it is optional.

Crumblinginside · 13/11/2021 09:04

No get together but a few treats given out at lunchtime in December are planned.

SamMil · 13/11/2021 09:05

We're doing an online event again.

gogohm · 13/11/2021 09:06

Yes but I work for a church so our Christmas event is rather public! Think 50 older people having soup and bread lunch and singing carols.Grin

Dp is trying to sort something out for work but likely to be in January as too busy in Dec

LawnFever · 13/11/2021 09:06

Yes, meal out and drinks in town but we have to pay for it all ourselves.

Goneback2school · 13/11/2021 09:07

We were due to- a dinner after work, but it's just been cancelled as one of my colleagues lost her teenage son this week. We may still go out for lunch in my immediate team.

takethattime · 13/11/2021 09:08

The main one of 60 odd isn’t happening but there are lots of individual team lunches etc happening. Terms aren’t more than 5 or 6 people.

Augusta1 · 13/11/2021 09:09

Yes, 30 of us going to a dinner and disco at a local hotel in the middle of December. Secret Santa has been organised and we’re all raring to go. We were gutted that we couldn’t do one last year 😫

Toddlerteaplease · 13/11/2021 09:12

Yes. But I think we are going to postpone ours. As we've got several other 'do' on as well. We will do in in January and welcome our new starters then as well. NHS here too. But we've not been told we can't do Christmas do's.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 13/11/2021 09:13

We are at £55 a pop so I’m not going, spending that Friday night cosied up with my DH and a bottle of red.

maddiemookins16mum · 13/11/2021 09:15

Ours is cancelled for Covid concerns. It is usually the highlight of the year. Funny how they’re still happy to cram us all in a small office though.

Constance1 · 13/11/2021 09:15

Our department is having a zoom Christmas party for over 100 people which I won’t be going to as I’ve had enough of staring at a screen this year! But my team (5 of us) have booked a pub lunch the week before Christmas and won’t be going back to the office afterwards:)

bizboz · 13/11/2021 09:16

Yes but I'm not going. There are many reasons I'm not going but I was also put off by the fact it is being held at a party venu which usually has 250+ people and I didn't really think that was a great idea.
