venue

Subbaxeo · 13/11/2021 09:16

The only good thing about Covid was no work get togethers. I love working with my colleagues but really don’t want to socialise with them. I feel a nob declining though. I have declined this year as I suddenly thought I’m too old to go to stuff in my own time I really don’t want to.

FabricedeSauveterre · 13/11/2021 09:17

Yes full on party and sit down dinner for 150

LiquidSodaCrystal · 13/11/2021 09:18

No, cancelled because of Covid. I’m a bit sad about it!

Ricetwisty · 13/11/2021 09:18

No, we are having food sent to our homes though and a Teams video meeting during work hours as our party. I'm not complaining to be honest haha.

HoneyItAlreadyDid · 13/11/2021 09:21

My work is having a “safari,” where we have starters in one restaurant, mains in another and dessert somewhere else. The most covid unfriendly thing I’ve ever heard. 😂 I don’t mind, it gives me an excellent excuse not to attend.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 13/11/2021 09:22

Yes I am, NHS but not been told we can't. Looking forward to it.

boreon · 13/11/2021 09:25

Yes, NHS also and no-one has said they can't. I say they cos I'm not going.

RoseMartha · 13/11/2021 09:25

No the company hasnt had a do for five years though so nothing covid related. I will be lucky to have a verbal happy Christmas.

WeAllHaveWings · 13/11/2021 09:26

We are getting cocktail making kits sent to our houses again and doing something virtual.

HelloKittySkittles · 13/11/2021 09:27

Yes but I’m not going. I dread them each year anyway but sitting in a room full of maskless people, with tables from other businesses also attending, is a no from me.

ChimChimeny · 13/11/2021 09:28

Massive drunken party not going ahead but team lunch of 15 or so is.

I think quite a few have had covid anyway so aren't overly worried

PhilCornwall1 · 13/11/2021 09:29

Not a main business area one, no. My team have asked if I'm going to organise one for them all. No to that, they are all over the country and can't be arsed with it.

This has been the biggest positive of covid, no bloody forced Christmas parties.

ExcessiveIyDisorganised · 13/11/2021 09:33

Yes, we're going for a meal, I've been eating out with friends in the last few months so not much different really. I'll be two weeks post-booster jab by then, as will several colleagues, we will be sitting still at a table not dancing and mingling closely with other groups and will all LFT beforehand.

FrangipaniBlue · 13/11/2021 09:33

Yes we are.

I can understand why some workplaces aren't keen though, especially if the business cannot be done WFH. I was at a "party" on Saturday
(not work or Christmas), only 35/40 people in a private function room sitting down having a meal and a few drinks for less than 4hrs.

So far 15 of us have tested positive with Covid Confused

Monolithique · 13/11/2021 09:34

Yes, lunch in a pub restaurant. Looking forward to it. Unlike a pp we don't have to return to work afterwards. Looking forward to it.

RedHot22 · 13/11/2021 09:38

Yep, and I’ve organised it.
We have unusual Christmas parties though, we’re a strange bunch 😂

motherstongue · 13/11/2021 09:38

My company had a venue booked then cancelled. We are Funeral Directors so we couldn’t risk a lot of staff catching Covid and being unable to work at what is a normally busy time even without Covid. We have something organised for the summer instead.

ChimChimeny · 13/11/2021 09:43

This is making me doubt whether I want to go to mine 🤣

orangejuicer · 13/11/2021 09:44

Yes and I CANNOT WAIT Grin

MrsLargeEmbodied · 13/11/2021 09:45

we have to think twice is the wording

OP posts:
WeAreTheHeroes · 13/11/2021 09:49

So it's "we have to think twice", not "we have to think of others"?

We're not having a Christmas do of any sort this year.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 13/11/2021 09:50

Yes full on back to normal sit down dinner and disco for 200-220 in a hotel.
It'll be fun and good to see so many people f2f again coz we are still mostly remote working.
I'm double jabbed and I've been on the tube & to the theatre & to a theme park, am flying in 2 weeks so it's no more risky than that. (Appreciate others wouldn't have done these things)
Everyone will be encouraged to LFT but won't be forced.
We can't stay locked up forever.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 13/11/2021 09:54

@WeAreTheHeroes
there are more words but i didnt want to quote them all! just looked it up to check

We are - can't wait! But we went out for both lunch and after work on our first day back in the office Blush Drunkards the lot of 'em! Grin
