Yes. Everyone is going. There hasn’t been an official staff do for two years.

Handsnotwands · 14/11/2021 11:13

Not just their colleagues RampantIvy. See : furious about wedding / outraged with houseguest / horrified at school gate / at war with neighbours etc etc 😂 there’s some seriously antisocial people out there

GinIronic · 14/11/2021 11:18

Yes - 6 of us having a sedate Christmas lunch early in December at our favourite hotel.

amazeandastonish · 14/11/2021 11:20

I'm permanently home based, yay, no more xmas dos with people I don't like eating food that's not cooked properly etc.

Bedsheets4knickers · 14/11/2021 11:23

Yep going to ours , can't wait .

liveforsummer · 14/11/2021 12:23

Yes, 2 in fact. I work in a school so covid exposure is something we're past worrying about at this stage.

LadyExpecting · 14/11/2021 12:44

Ours hasn't been cancelled. I thought a lot were back on this year?

speakout · 14/11/2021 13:31

Yes, I will take myself for a coffee to starbucks- alone.

Just me in my work.

itsallgoingpearshaped · 14/11/2021 13:31

Yes, but I'm not going. Doesn't sound fun and have better things to spend my money on.

Rufus27 · 14/11/2021 13:37

@BluebellsGreenbells

To meet indoors socially would be bonkers.

Why if most staff have had it and most are vaccinated then the party should be safe.

We are having a staff party - no restrictions same as we always have done.

@BluebellsGreenbells As far as I know, all staff are vaccinated, yet a number have been or are quite poorly (and off for longer than the required isolation period). Most have not had it . We seemed to have escaped it generally until the past two weeks and then suddenly it was everywhere.

For us to meet socially in the next few weeks would be bonkers, but I don’t mean it would be universally bonkers, if that makes sense. It just seems to be rife in our local area .

TheChosenTwo · 14/11/2021 13:51

We do usually have one (organised by a member of staff), I don’t go, it’s £45 for awful food and a tragic disco. Drinks are stupidly overpriced (it’s in a hotel) and I decided a couple of years ago that I actually don’t have to go so I stopped.
I don’t think there’s been one organised this year but 4 of us who actually socialise together outside of work (which is a school!) are getting together for a curry just before Christmas which is far preferable!!
The lady who usually organises it has decided she’s had enough of the faff, totally fair enough, but I don’t think anyone is bothered enough to go ahead and organise anything else.

bakingdemon · 14/11/2021 13:54

Lunch for our team, which is about 10 people, but no company wide bash (which is a relief as I hate them anyway).

LethargicActress · 14/11/2021 14:11

We’re having one, most people are coming but there’s a couple who are still worried that have opted out. But we’re a staff team that like each other and always have good nights out, and we’ve chosen somewhere that always does good food and music.

RampantIvy · 14/11/2021 14:12

Grin Yep

Three more "I hate socialising with my colleagues" posts since you posted.

Helpstopthepain · 14/11/2021 14:16

Yes but I’ve offered to work. Absolutely no interest in going!

MrsJBaptiste · 14/11/2021 16:15

Yep, we've got a table booked at a bar in town, really looking forward to it!

The bar isn't great, too studenty for me - I want to stick on a dress and go to one of the Christmas parties on here with a free bar! But it will be great to meet everyone in person at once again as we've only metvup in small teams recently.

TheChosenTwo · 14/11/2021 16:33

@RampantIvy I really like my colleagues, we’re a close team for being such a large school but it’s £150 minimum on the Christmas do out, the food is truly dire, the music makes me ears bleed (the Nolan’s and ABBA, that type of thing) and a large glass of wine and a large vodka is £30 - I’m not prepared to spend that much money on a shit night out whoever it’s with Grin I’ll spend it on something I will genuinely enjoy!
I do open my door when the bell rings, I say hello to my neighbours and answer my phone even when I don’t know who’s calling!! I’m not antisocial at all Grin

RampantIvy · 14/11/2021 17:13

it’s £150 minimum on the Christmas do out

That is a very good reason not to go. I could get a large glass of wine and a large vodka for less than half of what it costs you. Where on earth do you go that costs that much?

Mummyme87 · 14/11/2021 17:16

Yup we are, NHS

ReginaaPhalange · 14/11/2021 17:17

I'd rather spoon my eyes out than spend time with my bunch of 2 faced colleagues with their fake Christmas cheer!

Thankfully I'll be on maternity leave when ours is and due to an underlying condition I'll be "laying low" due to impending hospital trip!

Out of 20 of my colleagues, I only genuinely like 5, and they too share the same opinion of me.

ImInStealthMode · 14/11/2021 17:19

Yes, a low-key lunch at a restaurant and there's only about 12 of us anyway.

megletthesecond · 14/11/2021 17:19

Yes. But I'm not going.
I don't want to risk getting ill and the dc's being off school or not being able to see family after Xmas.

julieca · 14/11/2021 17:25

@TheChosenTwo I wouldn't spend £150 on a night out with anyone.

TheChosenTwo · 14/11/2021 17:25

@RampantIvy exactly, it’s ludicrously expensive and none of us can work out why, it’s a horrible roadside hotel which doubles up as a wedding venue but it’s ugly and expensive and dh and I stopped off there for a beer a few weeks ago - nearly £14 for 2 pints! Bloody Surrey Grin
It’s more expensive for drinks than anywhere anywhere near here, it has literally no appeal either!
I’m more than happy to spend much more than £150 on a night out and I do have it to spare, I’m not being tight, but when I’m spending that kind of money I don’t want it all to be shit!

TheChosenTwo · 14/11/2021 17:26

Haha cross post @julieca Grin
