John Lewis Christmas Ad

Out today. It’s already on the my John Lewis App. I quite liked it. Nice and gentle.

It’s on during the adverts for Pride of Britain at 8.15.

Call me Scrooge McDuck, but I fucking hate all modern Christmas ads and their shallow emotional manipulation. I much preferred the era of the big hitter ads being funny or clever parodies.

Me too. I think it's so cynical. I'd hoped we'd have grown out of it after Covid. I saw an M and S one for clothing that was very jolly which I think is what people actually want now.

I hate the John Lewis ad this yr too. Hardly even any snow around, not festive at all.
Love the Mcdonalds and Aldi.
Dont mind boots, really like Jenna Coleman and at least its festive.
Has House of Fraser released yet?

I didn't think it was anything special. I do like the Aldi one but that might be the music, the Marcus Rashford raddish made me smile. I also like the Asda one, I loved the skating with the freezers, when they opened them I thought they were showing us Boris wasn't hiding.

Desperate to see my dgs last year, managed just Xmas day under welsh restrictions, this ad made me bawl.

Don't like the boots one at all.

I really like this one- funny and it made me feel a bit emotional thinking of all the people so desperate to see their families and celebrate together. Twitter is full of antivaxers fuming that Santa had been double-jabbed

Totally agree, this is my absolute favourite! Really not liking this years offering.

The McDonald’s ads have been trumping it for me over the last few years, just saw this years ad ….and once again love it!

I thought it was a bit weird. but why do we need any of them.

They keep doing these awful ambient covers. Just stop it. It’s played out. I actually did like the Lily Allen one but it was like 8 years ago. It’s also annoyed when that bank with the horse does it.

I hate these godawful covers too.

Bloody appalling the way they steal and then ruin other people's work and I refuse to spend a single penny with any company whose ads have these covers.

I quite like the M&S one but a bit disappointed to see women down to their bra and pants again. I know underwear is something they do but no men in boxers is there.

Boring and not very Christmassy. As someone else said 3/10... 3 for the effort.

Flubbah Arghhhh!!! 'The Boy from Space' was my childhood nightmare! I ended up sitting out at school TV times, doing colouring in with a dinner lady because I couldn't cope with this programme!

This JL advert seemed very unsettling to me! I thought it might be because of that old connection, but my daughter agreed and said 'it's just 'alright charlie' all over again...

Have to admit, I did cry a bit. Very sweet.
