Thread 2 - the one with the return of the buns

Reastie · 16/08/2021 18:53

@jumpingintosummer thanks for the inspiration for the thread title, I’m now singing ‘return of the buns’ to the tune of ‘return of the Mac’

Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here to use for if you’re posting your personal referral link to others.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

What was the Dino t shirt?

Fubbs · 18/08/2021 14:38

I was going to order Paddy and Scotts as the finished touch for my sister's big birthday present in December, got the starter kit last year and it was great. Postage to ROI is now £33 Shock. Anyone know of something similar that is cheaper to get shipped outside the UK??

superstar84 · 18/08/2021 14:42
@superstar84 - my eldest has both the Lego train sets. He got them when a bit younger but is 9 now and still enjoys them ( and would enjoy building them I’d imagine). Have to admit I’m also rather fond of them Grin
Did you buy any additional track or is the track that comes with the train enough on its own?

I do think he's enjoy it, he loves trains and keeps building one out of his Knex but gets annoyed as it doesn't have wheels

Jumpingintosummer · 18/08/2021 14:47

Thanks @dementedma

NoWordForFluffy · 18/08/2021 14:51

Thank you for the Turtle Doves code. I ordered a pair of seconds wrist warmers for £9 with free postage. I will do some amendments if necessary before giving them to mum.

greyinganddecaying · 18/08/2021 14:52

I need inspiration for my 6yo! He already has Lego, has an older brother so lots of toys/books handed down already.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

@Jammed

What was the Dino t shirt?
It was a fiver Friday deal at Rocket and Rose, it's sold out now though unfortunately. It was a personalised cute Dino T-shirt. Hopefully they'll do it again before Christmas because I want more for more people now I've got the one I ordered!
Raindancer411 · 18/08/2021 15:05

@superstar84 It's ok for a small track but we got an extra set of both types for our cargo one

Broadbeanssleeping · 18/08/2021 16:06

Thanks for the turtle doves tip Smile
Such a good idea.

IggyAce · 18/08/2021 16:10

Just been to my local home bargains and they have large poppets for £4.99, I’ve just made my ds day getting him one. They had several shapes (square, circle, heart, & hexagon) they are rainbow colours.

Beaglemum93 · 18/08/2021 16:45

40% off at Photobox with code STAR40 and 4 photo coasters for £8 with code 4DRINKS.

Beakerandbungle · 18/08/2021 16:49

@superstar84 - the track with it is enough, but it does make it more fun with a bit more track as gives opportunities to do different designs ( although takes up more floor space!). My DS also used it as the basis for a whole lego town using buildings he already has!

He sounds quite similar to your son - he has ADHD so is young for his age in some ways and also still enjoys toys but I’m really struggling with him this year ( he’s also football obsessed but there is only so many footballs and kit you can get!)

Lemonsandlemonade · 18/08/2021 17:06

Aldi has summer sale online up 35 percent off

Scampersaur · 18/08/2021 17:14

@Smile3 the playmobil 123 zoo is currently £22.49 on the playmobil.co.uk site, they have 25% off pretty much everything (including advent and Scooby Doo). But you need to type zoo into the search function as it somehow doesn’t appear otherwise.

Willow4987 · 18/08/2021 17:44

Does anyone have any recommendations for Christmas present sacks? Or can remember when offers roughly happen?

MadeForThis · 18/08/2021 17:45

Ordered the Turtle Doves!!

oatmilkisntsobad · 18/08/2021 18:07

@MadeForThis

Ordered the Turtle Doves!!
Me too! Bought some for myself last year and now for my sister
Room4onemore · 18/08/2021 18:08

Just got my 3 youngest super soft pjs from primark, Disney and £7 each

Teddansononmyown · 18/08/2021 18:40

My first find!
15% off all items at Scottish Fine Soaps, including sale, if you sign up for newsletter. Free postage over £30.
If you go into all products, there are loads of reduced items that don't feature on the sale page.
I've just got a big bundle for £38, including their Christmas scented soap and moisturiser sets which are amazing.

Methenyouplus4 · 18/08/2021 19:14

National Trust sale on, there wasn't anything for me, but someone else might spot something.

MagpieMaggie · 18/08/2021 19:17

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a nice hot chocolate selection pack. Maybe individual sachets of different flavours or bombs that taste/look nice. I liked the look of the snowmen from last year but couldn’t find them in my packed out local shop.

Thegirlhasnoname · 18/08/2021 19:23

Dear wise people on my phone, help is needed please!

DD (soon to be 3) has come home from nursery with her first birthday party invite. X is going to be 3 and also seems to be DD’s best nursery friend (always says she was playing with X etc when asking her what she got up to). Question is, as I haven’t been to a child’s party since I myself was a child, what kind of things does one get for a 3 year old girls birthday present?! Especially when I haven’t got the foggiest what kind of things she likes

Bonus points if it is a bargain 😁

Thegirlhasnoname · 18/08/2021 19:25

@MagpieMaggie I got this from Whittards as a gift earlier in the year. Very nice in my opinion. I think I’ve seen some Whittards discount codes recently too
