Thread 2 - the one with the return of the buns

@jumpingintosummer thanks for the inspiration for the thread title, I’m now singing ‘return of the buns’ to the tune of ‘return of the Mac’

Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here to use for if you’re posting your personal referral link to others.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Just wanted to say thank you for the Blokus tip. Got it for £7.99 and was a bit skeptical as sometimes people rave about games and we don’t seem to get on with them as a family (Exploding Kittens I’m looking at you) but we all love Blokus. It’s quick, easy and fun to play. I’m really hoping it goes back down again as I wish I had bought a few more for gifts.

Namechangesagain · 21/08/2021 09:57

@MrsCrimbo74 if you're the etsy seller you are a genius 😂😂

disco123 · 21/08/2021 09:58

@Teddansononmyown

Bit of a niche one but any websites that do direct-and not crippilingly expensive- delivery to Australia? So far I can find House of Fraser and Marks and Spencer, but I'm ideally looking for toys, trainers and gifts things. Alternatively, any Australian users point me in the direction of online shops based in Oz that I can order directly from??
Myer and David Jones for department store, more high-end stuff.

Target and Kmart for toys and cheaper things.

EvilHerbivore · 21/08/2021 09:58

Just seen this - not sure it is genuinely £17.99 normally but still looks ok for a fiver

Thanks for idea about menkind and advent calendars. Just put one in my basket for my son so I can get when I get paid

TriCeraBottom · 21/08/2021 10:12

Had anyone seen any good lego offers for an 8 year old? He’d love Jurassic World but I feel those sets are quite overpriced compared to say Lego City so looking for any bargains.

Also any tips on best time to buy iPads? Does anywhere really reduce on Black Friday for instance?

Thanks for this thread as always. Been following a few years (name change often) and it’s been brilliant and made my Christmas time so much easier!!

Gimmemoredonuts · 21/08/2021 10:31

Tinc advent calendar is now down to £7.5

Previously someone mentioned this for £15 at Amazon and I thought that's a good deal but now it's even less!

Daisy829 · 21/08/2021 10:32

@FilthyforFirth thanks for the heads up on the planners. I have friends with birthdays coming up around Xmas so I’ve got a couple to go away for them. It’s something a bit different to gin/scarves/candles!

PeanutButterFalcon · 21/08/2021 10:36

The Disney advent calendar is cheaper on WHSmith and free delivery plus 10% off. Bought it and a Christmas book for DD for £11

Maharajah20 · 21/08/2021 10:37

@UrbanMage

Need to catch up with the thread, which I will do with a brew this avo as I'm child free for the first time in forever!

If you are looking for nice handmade soaps I've just done an order with this lovely human on Etsy and the package came super quick, was well packaged and a total bargain! (Well I think so!) I got two of the £7.99 sets and I think it came with about 10 soaps altogether. They smell amazing!

Scottish handmade soaps

Thank you!

Sadly they were sold out of that set but have ordered some different ones.
Great secret Santa gifts 🎁

DinosaurOfFire · 21/08/2021 10:39

@MissMarple0203 I didn't realise there was a remake that was on tv, I'll have to introduce my 3 to it. I used to love Morph!

furstivetreats · 21/08/2021 11:04

Can anyone help with present ideas for a not especially girly 12 year old? I don't have a huge amount of detail beyond that unfortunately. Up to £30 but less is fine too.

uggpug · 21/08/2021 11:04

Maharajah20 · 21/08/2021 11:20

@fizzandchips

Thanks so much for the Tony & Guy straighteners link. Exactly what I was looking for.
👍 They really are very good! And a great price too!
Shufflebumnessie · 21/08/2021 11:32

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but the UK Playmobil site currently have 25% off several sets (including some of the new releases). It's not off everything but the majority I was looking at had a reduction.

To my memory the apple store, rather than discounting, were doing vouchers around Black Friday, so spend £500 get a £15 apple store voucher, kind of thing. Can't remember specifics. I remember you had to be spending a fair amount to benefit, but it's hard to avoid spending a fair amount at the apple store so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for the duplo unicorn and the Tweet Beats. Christmas shopping well underway. DH is like - Hmm

Methenyouplus4 · 21/08/2021 11:46

The lego music box thing above that is £5, if you scroll down, there is a unicorn one for £5 too (just as I know they are popular).

Someaddedsugar · 21/08/2021 12:16

This Insta shop has opened for pre-orders of a pick and mix advent calendar for £5.50 - looks good value and takes the thinking out of making your own!

Someaddedsugar · 21/08/2021 12:16

Thanks @Methenyouplus4 - another present bought!

NoWordForFluffy · 21/08/2021 12:19

@Someaddedsugar, that Insta link didn't work for me.

Getoutofbed25 · 21/08/2021 12:23

@furstivetreats my 11 year old loves her LED colour change lights, they stick on the wall/bed frame etc. Various offers on Amazon, around £15

Raindancer411 · 21/08/2021 12:28

Never leave bargains to the other half to order. Asked if he had ordered the little tikes climbing cube for £66.99, no... went to do it, back up to 99.99 😭

Ck91 · 21/08/2021 12:34

For the person looking for Pokémon cards Aldi had some in the special buy section yesterday for £7.99 I think it was. A few different pack to choose from.

Someaddedsugar · 21/08/2021 12:38

@NoWordForFluffy sorry! It's this one...
