Here is thread 4 this year. With an appearance from Mr Bon Jovi himself!

Autumn officially starts on 22 Sept, and finishes on 21 Dec just in time for Christmas 🍂

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2021 09:24

Yes, bring on the Indian summer. It didn't happen in 2018, I think it was. The autumn term started cold and then just got wet to boot!

pussycatlickinglollyices · 25/08/2021 09:25

Woolly I think you can google quicker than me. 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2021 09:32

Yes, I could have Googled, but I'm distracted by planning our London trip next year!

I just bought London Passes for all of us which will save us a wedge as we want to do loads of expensive tourist things which all add up (maybe it was a bit keen, but they're on sale AND I found a working voucher code, so decided to just go for it). I've put a diary reminder in for next March to book the Shard viewing, as you can book 5 months in advance!

My Google-Foo is very strong puss 😂

Just distracting myself from the long list of stuff that needs doing before our family gathering this weekend. I'm a woman on the edge but I'm going to have a mooch round Dunelm getting bits and bobs for the spare bedroom. Hopefully a change of scenery and knowing that at least part of the house is ready for visitors will help 😬

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 25/08/2021 10:43

I go by the meteorological calendar which has autumn start on September 1st.

Mortgage Offer received now and emailed solicitor for update.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2021 10:46

Yeah, I'm with you on the autumn-timing front, Most! 22 Sept feels late.

That's good re the mortgage...hopefully it'll be very soon now.

Hello all! I hope you don't mind if I join. This Christmas will be my first (well, technically second, but last year I was in a haze of medication and grief!) without my DH who passed away last October, and I'm determined to get into the spirit and make it magical for DD. It was always a very special time of year for me and DH and I really don't want to lose that. So I'm starting early in an attempt to make it as pleasant, joyous and stress-free as possible!

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2021 12:07

Hi peachgreen! I'm really sorry about your DH (I saw your threads at the time, so I'm not surprised that last year was something to just get through). Flowers

You're in the right place for starting early! 🎅🏻🎄

CrazyBaubles · 25/08/2021 12:32

Welcome peach and sorry for your loss.
You've definitely come to the right place for festive planning Xmas Smile

Today is grey and cold here so I'm listening to Christmas music while I work whereas yesterday it was so boiling I washed and dried 4 loads of washing!

Hopefully won't be too long for you most

I very rarely get to go to London but I'm hopefully going in November for the HP play and again next summer for a gig 🤞🏼

Lachy did you iron the shirt?

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2021 12:50

We don't go to London much either, Crazy...it's too far away. I used to just hope on a train as a teen pretending I was under-15! and whizz down when I fancied it! Which is why we need to cram all of the expensive touristy things in next time we go.

We're going to do the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the view from the Shard, London Zoo and the Transport Museum at the very least. You can use the Uber river taxi too, so will likely do that. We might squeeze St Paul's Cathedral in as well. Then a free museum on our last day, as we only have 2-day passes!

WreckTangled · 25/08/2021 12:56

We did little Venice yesterday for the first time and got a boat to Camden from Warwick Avenue. Was pretty good.

We've done all the things you've mentioned apart from London zoo, would quite like to do that. You must go to the loo when you're in the shard Grin

Crazy the cursed child is amazing I would love to go and see it again.

lachy · 25/08/2021 13:02
  1. Remote is nowhere to be found. I thought it might have ender up in the washing machine or tumble dryer but no. Have ordered a replacement which will be here toot sweet.

  2. I ironed the shirt. I know, I know most of Mumsnet would be telling me I'm oppressed and that I should have said "NO!! DO IT YOUR BLOODY SELF YOU IDLE SOD" but I love him and I don't iron anything normally

DD is having a lazy day on the sofa and is watching some horse nonsense on Netflix (on a tablet) so I am pottering about thinking about tidying up the utility room, always a joy Hmm

I've ordered some Christmas Crochet Cushions from Deramores (@TheWoollybacksWife - they've got some lovely stuff) and will be making a start on them as soon as they arrive!

@Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear fingers crossed for the move

@peachgreen Welcome to the thread

CrazyBaubles · 25/08/2021 13:38

Fluffy I haven't done any of the things on your list!
For the HP play, the shows are on a Sunday so we'll have Saturday to do a few things and for the gig, it's on a Friday so DH & I will be rushing down after work, then staying over so will have at least Saturday. Will have a look at the boats idea!

Wreck I'm just really hoping the HP play will go ahead as it was supposed to be last year and has been rebooked (with a free upgrade) 🤞🏼

lachy MN is a strange mix of 'I do everything for my H and now he's stripping because I asked him to make me a drink' and 'no I don't do anything for my H at all, I just sort myself out, anything else would be abusive' isn't it? 🙄
It was very nice of you to iron the shirt - I bloody hate ironing.

I'm going to have a look at that website too - I crocheted cushions as Christmas gifts last year and enjoyed working on them.

Work is dragging today and I'm really struggling to focus, not sure why.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 25/08/2021 13:44

Crazy is your DH still away??
This is why you are struggling to focus => I do everything for my H and now he's stripping because I asked him to make me a drink

🤭

CrazyBaubles · 25/08/2021 14:14

Oops - that was supposed to say stropping Xmas Blush

DH is still away puss - back tomorrow but even then there will be no stripping. He messaged me yesterday to say how tired and achey he is from all the hiking they've done 🙄🙄

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2021 14:18

I've been to the Tower and the zoo...probably 35 years ago though! Might be time to go back. 🤣

It'll be nice for the kids to see all of them too. And they should sleep well after being marched round for a few days too, ha ha! 😂

OP posts:
lachy · 25/08/2021 14:57

These are the ones I ordered. The were a bargain as well.

Woa-oh, we're halfway there...Countdown to Christmas 2021 (thread 4)
TheWoollybacksWife · 25/08/2021 15:21

@lachy I DO NOT need any more projects. However, they are gorgeous so I'm very tempted 😂 I've got a couple of things to crochet for woolly hugs, some Christmas socks to knit for my DDs and a couple of bits and bobs for the woolly hugs Christmas sale - I'm sure I can squeeze something else in.

Welcome @peachgreen What sort of things are you looking to do to make the festive season extra special?

Shimmerandsparkles · 25/08/2021 15:23

Welcome Peach Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2021 15:29

@TheWoollybacksWife, are you doing your cross stitch (tea) towels too? I really want to do a table runner at some point, but a lot of the kits have very short runners which wouldn't be long enough.

Lachy, that's a cute cushion!

OP posts:
pussycatlickinglollyices · 25/08/2021 15:43

Crazy That's a shame. Blush Wink Shock

Fluffy I might have some table runner patterns in my vast collection file Grin You just need someone who owns a sewing machine Wink to hem some aida for you then you can make one as long/short as you like. Let me know and I'll wade through find one. Halo

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2021 15:49

Ooh, I can't think who I know with a sewing machine! 🤔🤣🤔

If you could look please, that would be lovely!

OP posts:
pussycatlickinglollyices · 25/08/2021 15:53

Will do. 😂
