We stayed up watching Sherlock and now I'm wide awake. I'm unimpressed! 😂

At least we finally made it to thread 2...I doubt we will do as many this year!

Woolly at least he's not at the stage where he's lugging a coffin with him too. They're massive and tend to be full of crap

DH has repainted the bench in a bluey-greeny-grey colour. It's a bit patch and will need at least 2 more coats.

Crazy are you sure about needing the retaining wall?

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 14/04/2021 14:07

patchy obvs Blush
stupid fingers.

CrazyBaubles · 14/04/2021 16:50

woolly I think you're right because DH has been surprisingly nice and understanding of my hormonal madness recently 🤔

Oh dear Neros. Are you hormonal by any chance? I do things like that all the time when I have PMT.

puss retaining wall is definitely needed. Hard to describe but essentially old owners had a pile of dirt and stones that they'd compressed against the boundary (on the side of the house), flattened, laid some slabs on top and used it to keep the bins and a few gardening bits on.
We dug it out as want it flat and part of it will become patio - as we were digging we've found the concrete along the edge just stops halfway and if we don't put a retaining wall up, next doors fence and possible part of their patio (which is higher than ours) is going to fall 🙄
Luckily it's my dad to the rescue, his mate is a brickie and is going to do it to repay a favour (my dad replaced 2 windows at his friends daughters house a few months ago) so that'll be done soon.

I finished work at 4:30 and am now walking the dog. It's lovely out so I've stopped at a nice spot to write and send this Smile

Crazy Your Dad is a Star - I thought the pic was of where the retaining wall was to go 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm not keen on watercourses that close to a house.
DH has been painting the stupid bench all afternoon (with 1hr break for a nap) it's not a bad colour, but it does look more like undercoat waiting for some colour don't tell him 🤔😳
Might go to Morrisons tomorrow and leave B&Q (compost) til Friday when DH may have a functioning back, although I don't mind lugging big bags of compost...it's easier to womanhandle than sacks of cat litter.😁

Morning! More sun today. Still cold. Really do need to water the allotment! 🙈

Crazy, your dad is so good! My mum found me somebody to build a brick BBQ at my first house. Brickies are handy to know.

I also laughed at the patio supplies. 🤣😂

We got one parcel yesterday: replacement dishwasher rack teeth as many teeth had snapped off. I found them at the weekend after failing to find a full rack.

We're still due:

Jurassic Park trilogy;
Hose pipe (garden, allotment got one last year); and
AC12 mug for DH's Father's Day present.

Morning!

😂 puss - even I wouldn't live that that close to water unless it was on the shores of Loch Ness
We're lucky that we have a really nice river side path 2 mins from the front door so that's we're I walk the dog.

That's a nice assortment of parcels fluffy, very random!
This week we've had patio supplies, insoles, a garden storage box and hamster toys 😂

Agree that my Dad is amazing. He can do most jobs himself (he does kitchens, bathrooms, conservatories and attic conversions mostly) and is a handyman for a lot of people he knows so spends a lot of time fixing broken washing machines / windows etc and he's been doing it all his life so he knows people in every trade.
He's pretty much appointed himself project manager for the patio because we were quoted £££££ and I asked what price I should be expecting - next thing I know he's organised friend 1 with a skip, friend 2 with a digger, now friend 3 who's a brickie. DH is going to basically do the labour while my dad instructs him and lays the patio stones for the rest of it (and he's building me a gate and fence because I couldn't find one I liked).
He's also refusing to be paid at all so I'm buying him presents - beer and not sure what else yet....

I have a nice day in work today - just 1 meeting which is more of a catch up with someone who's been off so I've managed to complete a fair few tasks this morning already 😊

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/04/2021 10:29

That's lovely Crazy. My dad could turn his hand to anything practical too.

I've written my to do list for today - mostly laundry and cooking. I used the last of my pasta sauces last night so it's time to make some more. It's also Haircut Eve 🎉🎉 which is almost as exciting as 24 December.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/04/2021 18:32

Evening
Going to The Shops tomorrow (as in Proper Shops not just supermarkets)

Masks/Gels/Queues/Hopefully they won't be like a locust razed desert . I need underwear Xmas Blush
Wish me luck !

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 16/04/2021 06:26

Woolly happy haircut day.🥳

70 good luck with the undercracker shopping. I hope it's not pants 😂

We're off to B&Q in a bit for compost so I can put my spuds in over the weekend. I suspect I'll be doing the grunting lifting as DH can't bloody move without wincing since he painted the bench.
Living the high-life.

WreckTangled · 16/04/2021 06:49

254 morning! We're going out out today. Shopping and lunch. I'm so excited! Will places take cash now?

The skin around my eyes is so dry and sore. The hydrocortisone cream has taken the pain and redness away but it's still all dry. I've booked a facial for next week with a voucher I had.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/04/2021 07:44

Morning!

Enjoy your haircut, Woolly! ✂️

And enjoy the shops, 70! 🛍

The nights start to get warmer from tonight, I think, so I'm going to pot my chillies on this weekend and turf them into the greenhouse. 🌶

The tomatoes can go out too. I bought 3 plants from Dobbies. One of them apparently gives enormous fruit! Time will tell. 🍅

OP posts:
PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 16/04/2021 08:47

I love Dobbies, but there isn't one locally. Sad
DH had to hoover the boot as one of the sacks of compost had a tiny hole in it. Also got some more Magic paint and a set of rollers.
I'll get a couple of tomato plants next week - might try B&M.

CrazyBaubles · 16/04/2021 08:49

Morning.

Woolly How did you get on with your to do list?
Happy haircut day 💇🏼‍♀️

Good luck for your shopping day 70

puss how big is the bench your DH painted if he can't move today?

Wreck my skin has been similar for weeks. I've been using Superdrug Naturally Radiant cleaner and Glycolic Tonic then
Cerave moisturiser - 4 days later the flaky red dryness is gone.

Fluffy are chillies easy to grow?

I need to fit the liner in the planter and fill it with compost so I can't plant my wildflower seeds this weekend.

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 16/04/2021 09:01

Crazy It's the picnic bench, but he's changed the colour and given it 2 full coats of paint (with a small brush) so was crouching, kneeling and bending over a lot. He wouldn't have a bath last night because he wasn't sure he'd be able to get out. I said I'd pull the plug out and chuck a duvet over him 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 16/04/2021 09:34

Puss, you don't have to stay local now. Come and visit me and Dobbies!

Crazy, yes. Really easy. We have a sack of them in the freezer from last year. I never do well with sweet peppers though.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 16/04/2021 11:18

Hi folks. Hope the haircut is as good as the expectation Woolly.

I have had a new cooker delivered today. I do love a new appliance.

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 16/04/2021 15:20

I know we like a little property porn ocassionally - so how about this?
www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/79636212#/
Dame Agatha Christie used to live there...

CrazyBaubles · 16/04/2021 16:06

Ooh what cooker did you go for why?

Maybe I should add peppers to my list Fluffy...

I've just finished work and can feel a headache brewing. Mix of not drinking enough and hay fever I think.
Just debating whether to walk the dog now or wait until DH is home with the food shopping and doing it together.

CrazyBaubles · 16/04/2021 16:07

Puss I think that house is lovely - would be scared to be there alone mind you, but if I could afford that I could afford staff so I wouldn't have to be home alone!

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 16/04/2021 16:48

Crazy I love the garden...You can have the house and I'll live in the cottage. Grin

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 16/04/2021 16:53

🚔 HIGNFY tonight at 9pm BBC1 presented by the boss of AC12.
Will he follow the script...to.the.letter?
Definately.
Grin

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 16/04/2021 18:59

It's a Cannon Crazy. It is sat in the dining room at the moment but it has numbers on the dials, what a novelty.

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 16/04/2021 19:58

why Ooh...are numbers unusual. All of my knobs are numbered. Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 16/04/2021 20:06

Are they really, Puss?! Grin

Looking forward to HIGNFY, if I can stay awake. I've got a cracking headache and have had all day. I think my period must be coming (they're pretty random these days!).

OP posts:
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 16/04/2021 22:42

Well my knobs used to have numbers but they wore off Pussy. My new cooker has nice shiny numbers on the knobs so I will know what temperature things are cooking on at last.
