We stayed up watching Sherlock and now I'm wide awake. I'm unimpressed! 😂

At least we finally made it to thread 2...I doubt we will do as many this year!

Damn those worn out knobs. Bloody useless.

The numbers on my cooker are well gone , it really is a lucky guess Xmas Grin

I'm whittling down choices of cookers but the one I like states it needs a gap at the back , others don't .
I think (hopefully) I've made my sort-of-final-choice but I need to do a final measure then purhase .

When my DS was little he twisted the knobs of the DW and WM and knackered the spring . They still worked but we had no idea what cycle we were choosing (not so bad for a DW but you really don't want to select a 90c wash when you really want a WoolWash ).
Little bugger looked so confident and important as he pootled along to .
When I got new ones we had to ban him from the kitchen unless he was hog tied

I did get everything I planed (which wasn't much really) I didn't want to browse , more a Stealth Shop.

I need to go to the supermarket today , again with one of my dear offspring to push the trollley so I've delegated DS ......who has complained (in a Kevin-esque way) that he has work to do

Well...I go to work, do laundry and cook but I have a trapped nerve in my arm still (been 10 days now) so I'm not going to push a full trolley Thank You Very Much and he eats the food too !
He thinks I'm thinking of his future wife and how she'll send him back if he's not housetrained Grin

CrazyBaubles · 17/04/2021 08:52

Morning. I'm sat downstairs watching Chicago Fire and cross stitching in peace while DH snores his head off upstairs 🙄

Plan for today includes hopefully getting an appointment at the vet, fitting the liner in the wooden planter ready for wildflowers and clearing my washing basket - exciting stuff here!

Puss that's a deal with the house - I'm rubbish at gardening anyway!

Cannons are good aren't they why?

We went for Hotpoint oven and hob. Numbers /temps on the oven but nothing on the hob, just a small flame at one end of the dial and a big flame at the other.

70 with our previous cooker, we'd saved for it even though it was one of the cheapest, and within 3 weeks I'd washed some of the parts in the dishwasher and taken off a lot of their plating so they looked flaky and worn. I don't know what I was thinking!

Lol at your DS considering he is a husband in training 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 17/04/2021 09:04

Morning!

We're going to the local wetland place today. It's lovely and sunny so should be a nice trip out.

This afternoon I need to wash all of my pots and dunk them in bleachy water. Thrilling! 🤣 Then I'm potting chillies on.

My DH was fairly well-trained by his parents. He's still got loads to learn though mostly specifically related to his crumb / dirt blindness!

Morning everyone. The old cooker is a Cannon, Crazy. We pretty much wanted the same one as it has been so good. The top oven has been broken for several years as well so excited about having that facility again.

Fluffy. Maybe the car packing style of your DH could do with a slight tweak as well 😂

Off to work later. I had to run again on Thursday so hoping not to again for a while 😄

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 17/04/2021 12:51

Afternoon.
Went shopping 1st thing, DH walked back.
Spuds 🥔 are now planted, just 7 bags Shock if they all grow I'll be amazed. DH is not allowed near them 🤔🤦🏻‍♀️

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/04/2021 19:11

Puss did you watch Gardeners World yesterday? There was a man on one of the viewers videos who called himself the "King of Taters" and his potatoes were brilliant. Ours are chitting nicely - possibly going in next weekend I think. We've got chilli plants coming from Marshall's but if you are overwhelmed by plants and you're passing Fluffy then I can always accommodate an extra plant or two.

My haircut was a success but it feels like I have about half the hair I had yesterday. She coming back in a few weeks to do a perm on the ends as I've been curling it lately and I like it. Hopefully I won't look like I did in the 80's with an awful poodle perm 😬

Enjoy your cooking to an exact temperature Why. Will your family be expecting cakes now?

70 my DH grew up in an all female household from an early age. He's pretty good about chores but crumb blind and I hope we are instilling the same ethic into our DS.

Crazy my laundry basket (and DS's) was empty for about 40 minutes today. I did our dark wash first thing and the white wash is on a timer for tomorrow morning. There is only a pair of underpants in each though. The ironing basket is another matter...

NoWordForFluffy · 17/04/2021 19:22

I potted 75 chilli seedlings on, Woolly. I may have a few spare! 🙈🌶😂 They may not all make it yet, but we can cope with that!

We have 3 lemons on one of the trees. One is definitely turning yellow now. Exciting! 🍋

OP posts:
PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 17/04/2021 19:33

Woolly No, I'm going to watch it on iplayer tomorrow.
I also had a perm in the v late 80s...boy was that a mistake! Weirdly, now mine is quite long, it goes wavy when it's wet and if left to dry keeps some of the kink.

DH has got his hand stuck in a pringles tube...off to find a knife.🤦🏻‍♀️

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 17/04/2021 19:43

Woolly I expect cakes let alone the family 🤣 When I have a couple of days off next weekend I will have a test bake!

Pussy I had a perm in the early 90's, it would be fair to say I looked like a dead sheep.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/04/2021 19:52

Yeah. I had a perm mistake too. Not least because my hair won't hold a curl. Even a chemical one!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 17/04/2021 20:49

Woolly I had a few perms as a teen. I loved having curly hair (it is naturally dead straight like Fluffys) but looking back at photos, it didn't suit me at all neither did my blue hair

70 my MIL essentially left my DH to sort himself out when he was around 13 so he is pretty well trained in the basics BUT he doesn't see things like dirty skirting boards, windowsills, dust or dirty bedding 🙄

Today did not go to plan - the only thing I crossed off the list was clearing the wash basket.

Instead we decided to start spreading the material that's going to be compressed on the ground ready for the patio stones. This essentially meant filling buckets with grit/stone stuff, emptying it where the patio will be and raking it flat(ish).
We also lifted the garden path (slabs) and the edging (bricks) as that's being redone too.

After that, I walked the dog and had BBQ for tea.
My back & shoulders are aching now 😩

Morning!

Allotment day here. More digging. Woooo! 😂

Sounds like you're really cracking on with the garden, Crazy. You should have it done in good time for summer.

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/04/2021 16:27

We are having a total overhaul of our garden , it'll look like a little building site for a while then once things take shape I can get some plants in.

I have some nastursiums and sweet pea seedlings growing nicely but still under cover , and a clematis which is about 6" high so still tiny .

Some on order should be with me by mid May .

I don't grow plants to eat , should do but the cats in the 'hood would treat any cultivated soil as a Free Loo which puts me off .
(Not my cats though - they use the tray )

Morning.
Awful day yesterday. My sisters FIL passed away unexpectedly so she and her partner were all over the place. I took the kids for the day to keep them out of the way - it took a tag team of me, DH and my dad to keep them entertained.
Obviously this meant I didn't do the work in the garden I had planned, I didn't even watch LoD, my head was too fried to take anything in by that point.

Today I have work, someone here building the retaining wall and a parcel being delivered before taking ddog to the vet at 5.

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/04/2021 09:59

Oh my goodness Crazy how awful. My condolences 💐

NoWordForFluffy · 19/04/2021 17:06

Oh no, Crazy. How awful.

How is your BiL bearing up?

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 19/04/2021 18:27

Thank you both. BIL is only young (30) and he isn't doing well. I think he's very lost, he was very close to his dad and is still in shock I think.
My sister is also a bit blindsided - she's been part of the family for 12 years and they treat her like one of their own.

It's just all around rubbish.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/04/2021 18:32

Sad crazy
Picking up the pieces after is hard , you'll all be mad busy and trying to take a breath to think .

It's especially tough when its out of the blue Flowers

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 19/04/2021 18:40

Crazy I'm so sorry for your BIL and DSis loss. Flowers

Morning!

Sainsbury's delivery morning this morning. Exciting times! 🤣

Crazy, how are you getting on? 30 is so young to lose a parent. My cousins were 35 and 37 when they lost their dad to a massive heart attack. It's no age, is it? 😢

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 20/04/2021 07:58

Oh crazy that's so sad, so sorry to hear that Sad

CrazyBaubles · 20/04/2021 09:23

Morning.

They told my eldest nephew yesterday - it's the first grandparent he's lost. He was very calm when they explained, asked if grandad was on his own when it happened then went up to bed and cried. My sister said he's asked a few questions and seems ok but they have told the school so they can keep an eye on him.
He's generally very quiet and not a crier so I think he'll struggle to process how he's feeling for a while.

I'm changing the subject now - LoD. I watched Sundays episode last night. I was thinking it wasn't that good then the last 15 mins were 😳 and the ending 😱😱 It's so unfair that we now need to wait a week for the next one!
