I've taken the tree down. Anyone else?

I'm so pleased to have taken it down, I don't like Christmas anyway but will be having dgs 18 months again from Wednesday and him taking the baubles off has driven me mad tbh. Dd took hers down yesterday for the same reason. The house feels bigger and tidier and cleaner without it as well so a real bonus.

Well the house viewing tomorrow that I mentioned in my previous post has now been cancelled. So instead of manic cleaning of the house today, we have taken 1 of the trees down and taken our time with it. The 2nd tree will be coming down some time over the weekend (depending on DH's shifts). I'll crack on with cleaning but at least it won't be frantic.
I love Christmas but I also love getting my front room back once NYD hits. So much more space again.

I took mine down earlier than usual.
Partly because the children have all outgrown the magic of Christmas this year so it didn’t feel the same in that way. Plus my daughter tested positive for Covid Xmas day so we weren’t able to get together with family as planned which dampened it, plus we’re now all trapped together in the house for a few more days and it just felt cluttered.

It wasn’t a proper Christmas at all this year so all tidied away and the house has had a good scrub and disinfect!

Taken down yesterday and today with a little prayer that next year will be a little more normal. Lost FIL to covid on NYE (went into hospital to treat an infection, caught covid while there) so glad to get it all out of the way now.

One tree came down today. The hall tree and the children's trees will come down tomorrow.

LizzieAnt · 02/01/2021 15:24

I'm very sorry for your loss @Longbarn5.

We put ours up on 13th December but tree has driven me mad this year- we only have to look at it and it drops 1000s of bloody needles!

Taking all the decorations down tomorrow. Back to work on Monday and can't bear going back to work with the decorations up.

Haven't felt in the slightest bit Christmassy this year...

Mine will come down in the next couple of days. I'm pagan and it's more Yulemas than Christmas for us. The festive season was just awful this year (not covid/tier related) but I'll hang on to how pretty it looks for a few more days. I leave the evergreen boughs/holly up and some lights way into January though.

Thank you x

My tree doesn't go up until a few days before Christmas.

I have always stuck to the tradition of them having to be down by 12th Night, 5th Jan, and they usually come down that day and not before.

WeAllHaveWings · 04/01/2021 09:02

Ours comes down today, back at work tomorrow. It has been a strange Christmas this year. We were fortunate to have 2 full weeks off work, which we really needed after a close family bereavement from covid in November, but the two weeks have flown by too quickly. Back to 'normal' tomorrow,

BiddyPop · 04/01/2021 09:47

Ours came down yesterday. I much prefer to leave it up until 6th Jan, but DH hits a point where he wants it down before we go back to work. And every single year, we have the comment about how much brighter it is in the sitting room with it down.

He said there was a queue of cars going to the tree recycling point yesterday early afternoon.

But it was quiet at the storage centre, when I went down both to collect the boxes to hold the decorations, and return them afterwards refilled.

DD's sheets are in the wash, along with the last towels. 1 mug was missed in the dishwasher. And 1 candle holder in the sitting room. So I will have another small bag of bits next weekend to return. (And a couple of items that we got that we won't use, so will put them away to regift next year).

BiddyPop · 04/01/2021 09:50

(DH has decided though to leave the lights on the tree in the front garden up until the batteries run out, as they are nice - I wouldn't be surprised if he replaces the batteries one more time before he actually takes them down Xmas Grin as he does like those and they don't take up space).

Furries · 06/01/2021 15:33

Couldn’t face taking it down, so have decided to extend its presence in the lounge.

Decided I needed a bit of extra sparkle. It’s cold, wet and dark and the tree makes me smile. Have taken the few extra decorations/garlands down, but the tree is staying until I’ve had enough of it! Who knows, maybe it will save me the bother of dragging it downstairs this December 🤣

lollipoprainbow · 06/01/2021 16:36

No mine is still up although looking very sorry for itself now !! I plan to take all the decs down at the weekend and have a good clean.

ShrikeAttack · 06/01/2021 20:23

Mine are still up too. After all my home-edding this morning I couldn't face it. The needles are starting to drive me bonkers though. I'm going to do it at the weekend I think.
