I've taken the tree down. Anyone else?

I'm so pleased to have taken it down, I don't like Christmas anyway but will be having dgs 18 months again from Wednesday and him taking the baubles off has driven me mad tbh. Dd took hers down yesterday for the same reason. The house feels bigger and tidier and cleaner without it as well so a real bonus.

I've taken the cards down (hate the buggers, don't have a dedicated area for them and they just end up getting placed on any available surface, toppling over and looking messy) and that's made a massive difference.

We've got an artificial tree that's a mare to get up and dismantle so I'll probably take that down on new years day or the day after as I know I won't be able to face doing it after work on Epiphany, same for the outside lights.

The garlands, wreath and other ornaments I'll keep up until Epiphany and then I'm really tempted to keep the twinkly lights up until Candlemas just to offer a bit of joy in the dark winter months.

Oh and I've had mine up since end of November - the longer the better here Xmas Grin

Still Christmas here too! I always leave the decorations up until Epiphany. I hate January and anything that brings light to January is good in my book! My husband comes from a country where the decorations are up until January 13th and I quite fancy doing that.

Christmas is now in the attic! I like to go into a new year with everything clear and put away. Cards in the bin on Boxing Day.

I took mine down today. I didn't saw off the end when I bought it and apparently that's an important step, I had a dead tree corpse in my front room which looked awful and shed its needles like crazy.

Also it was enormous and the dog kept knocking into it.

Poor Harry had to be emptied 3 times to Hoover all the needles.

Always on the second for us. We have to have the tree up for NYE and NYD but need it gone before term starts for a fresh clean start to the yearSmile

Chicchicchicchiclana · 28/12/2020 22:00

No, ours only went up on the 20th. I am still adjusting random decorations and lovingly watering it.

It will come down before midday on 12th night as it always does.

pomegranatefudge · 28/12/2020 22:08

Mine came down today, decorations all packed in the loft, everything given a clean and it feels great!

It did go up on 3rd this year which is earlier than usual but I've loved having it up whilst everything has been so gloomy. I always take it down NYE because I like starting the new year all clean and fresh and this year I felt like I needed it even more - and the tree was drooping!

@StealthPolarBear

Yes yesterday. Dh has stopped sneezing and the place just feels cleaner. One of my favourite parts of Christmas
Light bulb moment!!! For weeks I've been sneezing my head off, full on can't stop sneezes, today there's been none and the tree was booted out the back door yesterday.
GarlicSoup · 28/12/2020 22:39

Err it’s only the 4 day of Christmas what are you all thinking of? Xmas Shock

BluePheasant · 28/12/2020 22:52

No I love my tree, just having the tree lights on and a few candles in the evening is so lovely.

I am doing what a PP said and gradually putting some of the other bits away but the tree stays until 12th night or close to it.

PerhapsOverlyWorried · 28/12/2020 22:57

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman I put mine up for the kids, but if it wasn’t for the kids constantly touching it and knocking baubles everywhere and yanking at the tinsel etc I would quite like it up, and would have left it up til new year!

AwFeebs · 28/12/2020 23:26

@CoronaIsWatching

So common putting it up in November then down on Boxing Day
What about those that put it up mid December? Are we still common or less common? Grin
EternalOptimist7 · 29/12/2020 07:22

We put ours up earlier than usual & will take it down on New Year’s Day probably. I might take the ornaments down sooner as they tend to gather dust.

Lovely1a2b3c · 31/12/2020 01:00

Not until at least Epiphany (6th Jan) but probably later! We put it up around 15th/16th.

babycakes1010 · 31/12/2020 01:11

Thought I would just take the tree down today but ended up putting the whole lot away

TheoriginalLEM · 31/12/2020 01:18

FestiveFruitloop · 31/12/2020 01:21

@ShrikeAttack

No way! I'm considering leaving it all up until Candlemas...
Me too! I will if you will... Grin
openallthetime · 31/12/2020 01:21

I took mine down two days ago, felt great! freedom! no clutter! recycled all the cards!!

VestaTilley · 01/01/2021 19:35

Certainly not. It all stays up until epiphany.

mum2jakie · 01/01/2021 19:38

Tree down today. Room feels so much bigger

ethelredonagoodday · 01/01/2021 20:07

Ours will come down on Sunday. Even that feels a bit too early, but we are back at work on Monday and it's pretty much a full days job sorting it all!

Thewinterofdiscontent · 01/01/2021 20:41

I was going to take mine down today but can’t bear it. It’s a stunning tree this year and looks beautiful with all the twinkling lights.I think it’s odd not leaving it up until New Year. To be that’s as much part of the holiday as anything else.

Had a lovely Christmas and sad it’s finished,, 2020 benefited me too but I’m dreading the real hard work 2021 is going to bring clearing up after it.

lollipoprainbow · 01/01/2021 22:16

@Thewinterofdiscontent same, my tree looks extra lovely this year and is like an old friend twinkling in the corner, I can't bear the thought of getting rid of it yet.

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 01/01/2021 22:18

Took mine down on Boxing Day, takes up too much space

LizzieAnt · 02/01/2021 00:18

Boxing Day?
But...the 12 days of Christmas??
