Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

I'm not sure we're onto 6 yet here as we have a stupidly high proportion of older people here, so getting through them has taken longer. My MiL is 6, and she's not been called yet.

I wouldn't get on a sailing Petri dish cruise ship, even if I was vaccinated, Boots! 😷 😷

I've cleaned the kitchen etc after my warming bath.

I'm making a vat of braised red cabbage for dinner / to freeze. It smells amazing! The cabbage has been in our outhouse 'cold store' since Christmas and is in perfect condition!

Hi folks. Thought of the day do not forget to take your antihistamines when you have hurt your back because sneezing hurts.

WreckTangled · 14/02/2021 16:13

It's all old people round here too. No one else can afford to live here Grin Every time you see new buildings going up it's more retirement homes... I think my surgery vaccinated over 5000 people in January. Where I'm working though I'm still speak to elderly people who only just have it booked in, they haven't done so well and still don't even have a hub in the area.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/02/2021 16:17

We have dozens and dozens of care homes, plus retirement flats. It's because we're very flat, so easy to get about if you're old!

I don't actually know where to find our vaccination stats to see where we're up to.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/02/2021 16:19

Oh, one of our medical centres is onto groups 3 and 4. They must've been going like the clappers! 😂😂

NoWordForFluffy · 14/02/2021 16:19

Oh, no. They haven't. They're slow! 🙈😂

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 14/02/2021 16:24

I wouldn't go on a prison ship either. It's not a holiday for me if I can't get away from people.
fluffy I'm the sort of weirdo that would have eaten the red cabbage raw. Grin
why hot bath and some light stretches. Don't let it stiffen! And stop taking snuff WinkGrin
NDN is drilling out his drain in front of his garage to replace it with a flimsier plastic version he's wearing green undercrackers ShockShock😂

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 14/02/2021 16:26

We had a massive care home near us until about 18 months ago when it burned down. Sad
All the oldies from it were sent hither and yon to other care homes or sheltered housing miles away.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 14/02/2021 16:27

fluffy have the fumes from the red cabbage made you a bit 😵🥴

NoWordForFluffy · 14/02/2021 16:31

I'm just tired from shovelling shit and walking to Lidl and back in 45mph winds! My brain has given up.

Our viburnum has blown down in the wind. And it looks very odd without a fence between us and the neighbours! Good job we get on. 😂

I'd eat raw red cabbage too. This recipe is amazing, however!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 14/02/2021 16:49

Can you stick it back up, tying it to some posts?

WreckTangled · 14/02/2021 16:58

We've got loads of care homes too. I suppose it's the way it is on most places now, especially near the sea Grin some of them around thousand of pounds a week too.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/02/2021 17:12

No, Boots, the branches have snapped from the 'trunk'. We've had so much high wind recently, I'm guessing this last lot is the final straw for the poor thing!

Bearing in mind they seem to be saying vaccination won't release us into the wild, I'm not sure why we're in a rush! 🤷‍♀️😂

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/02/2021 19:27

I had a twingey elbow but it's eased itself thankfully (it's after the drive back from DParents house , always happens)

No Spring Cleaning contemplated here , I have done enough in DParents house to last me several lifetimes .

We're planning to have our garden improved ( ie be useable not just a massive swamp) as we had to cancel our PetriDish Cruise last year and I really don't fancy a UK holiday this year , it'll be mad busy and ££ .
So if I can pick a good week , I can lard about on a sunbed in my garden and pretend to be relaxing .

WreckTangled · 15/02/2021 07:34

313 morning. We've all just woken up (not DH he's about to leave for work). We've got the dentist today 😭

NoWordForFluffy · 15/02/2021 07:37

Morning!

It's a day above freezing temperatures. Wooooo! The allotment will finally defrost and I can consider digging it.

Today, however, is my usual work. Thrilling!

WreckTangled · 15/02/2021 10:27

My really nice dentist is going private. I can stick with him or I can move to the new nhs one. I don't know what to do as I really like him and I hate doing to the dentist but don't mind so much with him. Argh.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/02/2021 11:07

What's the price difference? That would sway it for me!

WreckTangled · 15/02/2021 11:17

That's the thing who knows? What if I need a filling or a root canal? You just don't know! If I had denplan it covers all those things plus hygienist. Privately payg is £70 a check up which he said I would only need annually. Nhs check up is £24 then up to £285 for something like a crown. Denplan for me would be £22 a month. I do like the thought of having everything covered and no unexpected big costs but also I don't want to be paying that money and getting nothing from it. Although I've never seen a hygienist in my life and I'd get two appointments a year with denplan.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 15/02/2021 11:48

Our Dentist is private, but when I had probs with the tooth that needed to be removed, her bills were lower than NHS...although it did cost £1500+ to get it out (Private Hosp/GA) I hate going to the dentist (or optician tbh) I think they get a bit too close 🤔 Personally, I'd pay to stick with one I like.

70 I remember clearing my parents house. The endless dust and random bits n bobs they had kept especially the drawer full of random keys that didn't fit anything I still don't know why I left all of my Chalet School books for the clearance guy. Sad

MarshmallowManiac · 15/02/2021 12:18

Hi everyone. Quite calm and breezy day, the rain in the night here seems to have chased away the last of the snow. Have been MIA as have had a doggie doorstep delivery and he has been keeping us busy. Smile Have also had my 1st covid jab so am happy about that.

So sorry to hear about your Dad 70, sending much love. Flowers Did not enjoy clearing parents house at all, but it's strange so sad but then a moment of happiness as I found some old photos.

Hope your skin is feeling better Wreck

Hope your back is feeling better Why my back is playing up, think it's sitting on the floor playing with the dog.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 15/02/2021 15:52

Can any of you with longer hair recommend a de-tangling spray? Mine seems to have become a bit unkempt like a haystack all of a sudden. I switch between Elvive Dream Lengths and Pantene and always use conditioner or I can't get a comb thru it.
I look like I have been backcombed and belong in the 70s 😂😂

NoWordForFluffy · 15/02/2021 16:07

We use the kids' pear one from Superdrug on DD. I don't have sufficient hair to worry (even if I don't brush it, it dries the same as if I have!).

WreckTangled · 15/02/2021 16:18

What about Aussie hair? That's meant to be good. I don't really have any problems with tangles as my hair is pretty fine. Dd does when her hair is longer so we plait it overnight.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 15/02/2021 16:20

Lucky you. I tried tying it in a top knot (like your average 14yo) - boy was that a mistake! 🙈
