why what's pmva training? How did it go?

I've been up since 7 but am not dressed and I haven't done anything, just browsed MN with a cuppa.
Very cold here too (-4 according to met office 🥶) so will be spending the day inside too.

I have a question for cross stitchers - have you ever done one where big parts of it are done in half cross stitches? I'm working on the Christmas one still and the whole sky is 3 strands half cross stitch (so just / as a stitch). I've only just started this but but not sure if it's going to annoy me and I've never seen it on any before).

Yes it is. It's a higher pay grade than my current role too but I don't feel like I can ask for any more as a) it's too complicated to sort out and b) I'm only doing part of the role. I can go back whenever I want but at the moment there's still nothing to do in my normal role, I'm planning to stay until Easter

Crazy yes. Are you doing it in 2 strands? I tend to go a bit off piste and do full crosses but in 1 strand if it's possible.

I like it like that crazy as you can power through. The sky on my Merejka is the same and I got through it so quickly.

Very cold here too but I think I will have to bundle us up later and get us out for a short walk at least as I am going a bit loopy.

Last day of homeschooling hopefully as tomorrow is a wellbeing day and then it is half term and then back on the 22nd. However the operational guidance released yesterday did say the first week could be a phased return so I may have a day or two left after half term maybe. Hopefully the school let us know before half term.

I tend to do 3/4 stitches as 1/2 ones bother me! 😂 My John Clayton ones have loads of fractionals in them.

I thought your conservatory would be below freezing today, given how frozen my greenhouse is, Stockings.

It's apparently -3°, feels like -7° right now. My decision to stay inside is correct!

puss I haven't actually started the sky yet - they also have half cross stitches for trees in the background using 3 strands so I've done one of those. The sky is next and it says on the kit to use 3 strands for it, I'm just not sure. I'll post a pic of what I've done so far.

Could you post a pic of yours so I can see the sky please? I can't imagine what it will look like and I think that's what's bothering me!

Fluffy conservatory here is warming up now (south facing) but I don't think it went below 0 overnight.

I'm staying in as my chest still isn't right - it hurts and I cough whenever I go outside in the cold air.

Called in at Morrisons. It was busier than when we go at 7, but DH managed to get a warm pasty and ate it in the car while I did the rest of the shopping so he's happy.
Conservatory now a balmy +4 (I'll be complaining in July when it's +44!)

Dc woke up at 5 this morning. I don't blame them the house was freezing. I'm going to have to set it to come on earlier tomorrow morning.

I was waking early because I was cold. Until we put the mid weight duvet on. Will they wear socks in bed? DS does and it helps him stay warm.

DH has 2 duvets on him and still wakes up cold in the night. Twice in the last week we've got up at about 2ish to make a hot drink before he's gone back to bed. He'd be better off leaving the electric blanky on low. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My boys are the complete opposite. Even with the low temperatures last night DS needed the fan on all night. Without it he is a hot, sweaty mess who soaks through his pjs. DH is the same.

Most, I stick my feet and bum out of bed most nights. If I do end up stuck under a duvet, I wake up like your boys. 🥵

I can't stand being hot at night, I turn the heater off in our room.

I haven't been home long, I'm so tired but not back in for two weeks now woo hoo!

Our room is getting down to about 16° overnight at the moment (we have the windows on vent still). I don't like it warm, and we usually have the summer duvet on all year. This week has tipped me into the 10.5 tog though!

We hit the dizzy heights of 1 degree today. When I woke up it was -4 🥶🥶

We've had the winter weight duvet on since I changed the bedding for Christmas but we also had the bedroom window open until this weekend. It's just been a wee bit too cold for the open window overnight this week so it's only the vents open for now.

Everyone's cross stitch is coming on nicely. I'm crocheting for Woolly Hugs - hopefully finishing my projects by the end of the month.

Pmva training is restraint training Crazy. It is not going so well as I am struggling to get it all into my head (the course should be five days but reduced to three days due to covid). I was quite upset earlier and they insisted I was overthinking and could do it. I also have a back that hurts now and I can't decide if I am seizing up or I have actually hurt it. I think it is hurt though.

I did basic restraint training years ago (was a MH support worker then) and hated it.

I'm giving in and going to bed. I was freezing earlier so put the fire on. Now I'm so hot I can't cool myself down 🙄

Oh bloody hell. It's 15.9° in the bedroom already. I reckon it'll drop to 14-ish° before the heating comes on at 6! 🥶🥶🥶

Can you self-refer for physio, Why? I know you used to be able to many years ago as I saw it in the GP's waiting room (the old building, which dates it!).

Crazy, it was -32 when I went to Denver. It's a dry cold though, so doesn't feel that bad. -12 in New York (baseline, windchill on top) is the coldest I've ever been.

It was -27° in Lapland. The wind chill made it even colder though.

Hmm I'm not sure either why. You can self refer in my area but dh is registered over the border and they don't accept self referrals. Our physios are still going out and visiting and dd is still seeing hers but I'm not sure about standard physio.

I tried to tell the dc they could have an inset day today but they weren't having any of it.
