Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

We had a good day. We were all pleased with our presents and DD was v happy with her stocking. We spoked to DS and family a few times on FaceTime during the day and joined a family zoom quiz. It was quieter than usual but enjoyable. I definitely bought too much food but it will all be eaten over the next few days.
Happy Boxing Day!

Lovely to hear that everyone had good days :)

I give it two weeks until people ask me for ideas for DS' birthday so if anyone had particular hits for a 5-6yo please let me know!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/12/2020 09:54

DS is all about Lego. He did also love his Imaginext Buzz robot thing too. He does enjoy the Batman Imaginext he has in general.

lachy · 26/12/2020 09:55

Wonderful Roller Boots! DD had a pair from my mum and dad, I wish I'd videoed her trying them out and my dad's reaction. It was so funny.

NerosFiddle · 26/12/2020 10:43

Morning.

Ds was asking for a skateboard before Christmas, but as he is only 4 he wasn’t getting it.

We’re under curfew now so I must stay in and eat my body weight in chocolate and turkey sandwiches.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/12/2020 10:55

That's a reasonable excuse, Neros. I'm off to the allotment after getting my arse into gear finally.

More bindweed root digging in a Groundhog Day fashion! 😂

CrazyBaubles · 26/12/2020 11:23

Morning.
Christmas Day number 3 happening here - DH is cooking our Turkey with all the trimmings and except for walking the dog we're not going out.
Our plan for the day is to have a lovely lunch, sort our presents and put them away, drink some Buck's Fizz then spend the evening watching Elf, eating my cheese board and drinking whiskey/rum Xmas Smile

Serin · 26/12/2020 11:24

We had a lovely peaceful day.
Not the huge family gathering that we anticipated (bought food for the 12 I was expecting) but it was relaxing and gorgeous and we still got to see extended family via What's app.
Next year I would like to continue with just nuclear family. Maybe have everyone else on boxing day.

Sideorderofchips · 26/12/2020 12:25

Kids are off to their dads for a bit then we are off to my nieces birthday today

NoWordForFluffy · 26/12/2020 16:21

I did a couple of hours of digging and weeding, which was thrilling. Plus there's a skip so we managed to dump an old pallet. I need to buy some pea gravel to sort a path out, but no hurry for that.

We're having buffet MKII tonight. 😋

WreckTangled · 26/12/2020 17:58

Chicken doughnuts here tonight (among other things!). They are nice, the bbq sauce is nice if a little thin but I don't get the crumb thing. It's just a bit weird. Also had their mini Kiev's which were delicious!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 26/12/2020 18:28

I was very confused when I woke up after my snooze today. Working the night away I felt Christmas Day was further away than yesterday. Shift work addles your brain.

Working from home tonight so the Christmas food will only be a step or so away.

Bloody windy here. And it sounds a bit damp!

We had fun with DD's karaoke machine tonight. They loved it! Still haven't played on the Switch though. Their behaviour wasn't good enough today (it was a fight waiting to happen)!

WreckTangled · 27/12/2020 07:28

Morning. stupid car woke me up again this morning scratching on the door. I might stuck a sheet of paper over the but where he scratched covered in double sided sticky tape to see if that deters him.

Last day of eating rubbish today, will try to eat as much as I can Grin plus lots of tidying. Got to do a family zoom and quiz with dh's side later.

Also yesterday I paid off my credit card which is nice. I'll cancel it next month. I also ordered some new cushions yesterday with our Christmas money. Can't wait for them to come, dh isn't a fan of cushions mind.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/12/2020 08:03

It can be better for your credit score to keep the credit card rather than cancelling it, apparently, due to how they record the closure.

I did smile at your typo...if your car is getting in you've got bigger problems than the scratching at the door! 😂😂

WreckTangled · 27/12/2020 08:24

Well I don't like the car either so 🤷🏽‍♀️ Grin I've already got a credit card with nothing on so will leave that. I think it's good for your credit score to have available credit isn't it?

We've just had home baked sausage rolls for breakfast. Might start on the chocolate in a minute.

CrazyBaubles · 27/12/2020 10:04

Morning. Checking in with a sore head after enjoying some Christmas booze a bit too much last night 🤕

Wreck I was told to keep some credit available when I was pushing to pay off debts / credit card - we switched to a 0% one when we could and got rid of the expensive one. Now we deliberately put something on the CC every month or so then pay it off (it used to be great for holidays because you can use them in every country pretty much) - apparently that helps with credit score.

I'm going to get out of bed and make tea in a minute.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/12/2020 10:39

Morning - I was kept awake by rain and wind (and some arse with fireworks just before midnight Xmas Hmm ) and heartburn to boot

DH and I are planning a wander to Aldi ( carpark is a nightmare there so walking will be quicker) hopefully it'll be organised - it won't be quiet -they do a Traffic Light System to let people in.

Our female cat scratches at DD door to get in, sometimes I wake up and push the door open (to save the carpet) .
Had to reduce the table size as she was in pole position to launch herself off the table onto the tree . Little swine . Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 27/12/2020 10:46

We did used to leave our door open but started closing it because he would scratch at our bed in the morning and has ruined the fabric of the divan Hmm such a pain.

Sideorderofchips · 27/12/2020 15:19

Afternoon all

Storm really blew a hooley last night here. Water came in through the back door seal!

WreckTangled · 27/12/2020 15:22

After an afternoon snooze on the sofa I'm even more confused about what day it is than I was this morning Confused I've been way too lazy today too and the place is still a tip.

MarshmallowManiac · 27/12/2020 15:45

Afternoon everyone. Hope you are all having a lovely Christmas. Have really enjoyed it this year, I feel it has been the best that it could be in the circumstances. We zoomed our family on Christmas day so that was really nice to see how their Christmases were going too. [santa] We ate are still eating Grin drunk and were really merry, watched lots of Christmas films, played Christmas Monopoly on the big day and Monopoly Revolution(digital one that the DC love on Boxing Day). Also loved the cheese board that my DD organised, it was fabulous.
Just a little weird though that my DD and partner and MIL were not with us, but hey ho hopefully next year.

Wow I bow to you CaramelCandle I remember fondly those bygone days. Smile

Thanks Fluffy for the new thread.

Enjoy your trifle Chips we had one on Boxing Day but it was strawberry Smile

MarshmallowManiac · 27/12/2020 15:54

Storm and wind was blasting all through the night, but when I woke in the morning all was calm. Only thing about Christmas Day was stomach a little tender, was sick a little, but probably due to the world consumation of chocolate. Grin

Looks fabulous lachy

Feel lego is a good call, DS used to love it, also anything Thomas or Fireman Sam I feel Most

Totally confused about the days too Wreck
