Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

I didn't get to Aldi - I wanted the Coconut scented Aldmat washing liquid, but as DD cannot abide the smell (much like me and lavender) it would only be used on my jumpers or bedding .
So wafted to Tesco Metro instead for Alpro milk

No plans for tomorrow , might do some Bank Holiday tidying . I have a Charity Shop bag to go but they aren't open .
I'm back to work on Tuesday , DH is off till next week.
Our decorations will be taken down on NYD so still a few days to enjoy them.

NerosFiddle · 27/12/2020 18:57

We've had some snow but it's far too wet for it to stay.

My backup turkey is being taken out of the freezer maybe tomorrow to defrost in fridge. I read that it needs 24 per 2kg. So should be able to make it on New Year's Day. I'll then batch cook curries, soups, pies with the rest. I probably won't be cooking much during January.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/12/2020 19:23

Our meat for our dinner today defrosted outside. It's been so cold it had an internal temp of 3° when we checked it this morning. And now we've had hail today. It came down with a massive whoosh!

I need to get some pastry in my shopping this week so I can make a pie with leftovers.

We're expecting a very cold night here, and a possibility of snow! SNOW!! ❄

M will be a blinking nightmare if she gets up and its snowed Xmas Grin

I've started my 2021 Christmas Shopping Smug

CrazyBaubles · 27/12/2020 21:32

What have you bought lachy?
I'm looking online for cards, wrapping paper, star lights along with a nice diary / planner / journal.

That looks like snow fluffy ❄️

I've been so lazy today, I haven't even put a load of washing on. Walked the dog, napped, ate Turkey, chips and pickles and have wasted the rest of the day.

I can't remember if I said, I treated myself to a new iPad (I used Christmas money then topped it up with my spending money). It came before Christmas and DH nabbed it, wrapped it and have it to me on Christmas morning.
Today he gave me a late gift - it's an iPad case and as he handed it over he said "I think it's ridiculous but I saw it and new you'd love it and it'll keep you smiling all year" - The man knows me well Xmas Grin

I love that case Crazy. Perfection.

Chottie · 28/12/2020 06:17

Good morning- can I join you? I’m a Christmas lover too. This year was so different being in Tier 4 and not seeing any family or friends over Christmas. But I was glad to be with DH and we made the most of Zoom. And we had a lot (!) of delicious food which we will be eating into the new year.

We’ve walked a great deal and locally people have really gone all out with Christmas lights, which is just beautiful.

Today I plan to walk, to spend sometime chilling and do some crocheting.

WreckTangled · 28/12/2020 07:13

Crazy I love it!

Chottie welcome

I'm about to Chuck on some clothes and collect my food shop. It's about -2 outside so going to be chilly. iPhone saying snow met office saying rain. I want snow.

Ds has football today for two hours. He's going to be freezing!

Hi Chottie!

Your poor DS, Wreck. Sounds like torture to me does that! I hope they ensure they're all kept moving.

I love the case, Crazy. Your non-Christmassy DH did well.

We're tidying downstairs today and bringing all of the toys etc up here. Step 1 in reclaiming the lounge! The tree will stay up until at least 1st, but will be down before I'm back at work on 4th. (I'm back tomorrow, but that's too soon to take it down; I like it down before I go back in the new year though.)

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/12/2020 07:35

Thanks for the ideas for DS all. He does enjoy his Imaginext Power Rangers.

I think we might be on our last day of leftovers today! Now that Christmas is over I am wondering how exactly we are going to fill the time until the schools go back which may be a while! The days are all very much the same. Need to pull myself out of the Christmas lull and plan some fun at home activities for DS.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/12/2020 07:40

We've put uncooked party food in the freezer and palmed off gave some bits we wouldn't eat to DH's parents. I think it's mostly cheese we have left now, plus some continental meats. The fridge is breathing a sigh of relief anyway. 😂

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 28/12/2020 08:08

Morning Xmas Grin
Wreck I bring news of SNOW (which was fun to drive in at 6) it's a bit slippery out there and 0.5deg on the car with the little snowflake lit up.
Watched Die Hard 2 last night, so I'm quite pleased everything is white and Christmassy even if it is a few days late
Crazy your DH knows you so well Xmas Grin
70 I'm with your DD, I can't abide coconut flavoured or scented anything. 🤢
Fluffy this weather is good news for your garlic. Xmas Smile

WreckTangled · 28/12/2020 08:16

Well not only was my car frozen but it has loads of debris from the tree frozen to it. Then I met this in the road Grin

I'm jealous puss!

lachy · 28/12/2020 08:47

@CrazyBaubles I've bought stocking fillers from Rex London and Boots for DD, DM's present from Joules and a load of gift bags from Sainsburys that were cheap as chips.

I'm tempted to write next year's cards tomorrow as I hadn't put the cards back in the loft yet, but that might be a bit too organised!!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 28/12/2020 09:01

Wreck the car wasn't frozen under the snow Xmas Grin but it has frozen over now. I (for once) don't envy you. Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 28/12/2020 09:05

Our kids loved their Rex London stocking fillers! My MiL loves the site too.

I might pop to Sainsbury's today, see what bargains there are.

I'm not sure if our car is frozen. I've not looked out the front yet!

WreckTangled · 28/12/2020 09:45

This was the other side of the tree. At least they're clearing it now

Countdown to Christmas 2021 (thread 1): Here we go again!
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/12/2020 10:02

DS received lots of lovely Christmas presents. He has mostly played with three pastry brushes joined together with an elastic band GrinHmm

lachy · 28/12/2020 10:46

Fluffy Rex London is brilliant. DD had a collapsible water bottle and has been permanently attached to it since Christmas Morning!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 28/12/2020 14:04

We are having our Christmas buffet now that I am off. I was cooking sausage rolls and cocktail sausages at 2am on my break. 🤣

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/12/2020 15:22

we're forecast "Heavy Snow" at 10pm on NYE (so it might put off the BackGardenFireworksBrigade)

No fireworks planned for London this year sadly , I suppose even with the £10/head tickets it costs a shed load to put the display on . And London cannot rely on generous sponsership by various companies because the money isn't there .
They might show previous years displays ( we're not going to know any different ! )

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 28/12/2020 16:12

70 I think I read somewhere that they've fired up Big Ben again, so you'll get "the bongs" if nothing else. 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 28/12/2020 16:21

Big Ben is bonging at 11pm, I think. It's marking Brexit, not the new year. Woooo!

WreckTangled · 28/12/2020 16:52

Tree down. Dusted for the first time in four weeks BlushGrin so much better.

Chicken and salad for dinner and I exercised Halo

ConstantlyCookingMincePies · 28/12/2020 17:05

Hi Chottie
Love the case Crazy (adds Christmas iPad cover to list of special Christmas items that already includes mugs, plates, bowls, towels, bath mat ...)
Wrecked - I ran this morning but only so I could fit in more food!
I have bought a few bits online in the sales but missed the v cheap Benefit sets in John Lewis bécause the site crashed!
I am having a lazy hour with a book and some chocolate. We have almost finished the turkey but still have a fridge full of cheese!
