Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

Wreck In my house you'd get a bollocking for slamming doors and if it was your bedroom door it would be removed (my dad would take it off and hook up a shower curtain for a week or so).

MIL swears by her tactics though - if you slammed a door you were made to come back and open and close the door 10 times nicely before you were allowed to do anything else 😂 According to DH, it's such a PITA it ends up not being worth slamming the doors.

Not sure how to help with shouting though...

Could your DH drive to the Indian and get tea that way?
The one we like doesn't deliver to where we live so we've had to come and collect. I'm in the car and DH (who has been in there ages) just text me saying 'it's chaos in here' - maybe wine for dinner would have been a better plan!

NoWordForFluffy · 31/12/2020 18:39

Do you need to exchange before giving notice too? It's a bit logistical really, isn't it?

Wreck, you need a Spicery box. You'll never get a takeaway again once you've got one as you can make curries which are just as good!

NoWordForFluffy · 31/12/2020 18:39

Oh, and our DS is so similar to yours. Drives me insane.

WreckTangled · 31/12/2020 18:42

I like mil's idea, I will try that thank you. Dh refuses to remove the door which is fair enough as it's dds room too and that's not the only door they slam! Our nearest indian is over 5 miles away and doesn't deliver. If dh drove and ordered he would have to sit in the car until it's ready and going by the phone lines it would probably be about an hour! It's stupid really I was just looking forward to it!

I think the shouting isn't his fault really. He's an anxious boy and clearly can't deal with his anger. He's a dog more often than not these days and constantly has his hood up so I think I need to think carefully about how to deal with it.

Anyway happy new year everyone! (I've always hated New Years Grin)

CrazyBaubles · 31/12/2020 20:14

We're out of contract so doing rolling 30 day contracts with our house - landlady is aware we're in the middle of buying and is very flexible. She's asked for 1 weeks notice but what we'd like to do is get new house mid jan and keep this one until the end of the month so we can move then take time to move things and clean. Landlady has been great so I want to leave the house sparkly & garden done for her.

Wreck how old is your DS?
I've seen MIL use her tactics on her granddaughter who slammed a cupboard door and stomped upstairs. She was called back down, made to walk back up and down the stairs without stomping then to open and close the cupboard nicely over and over. By the end of it she was laughing about how silly it was but didn't do it again.

My house is freezing, I'm going to have turn the heating up 🥶

WreckTangled · 31/12/2020 20:19

He's not long turned 8. I still haven't eaten. Cutting my nose off to spite my face Grin plus the wine I have is gross.

ConstantlyCookingMincePies · 31/12/2020 20:56

Good evening all. We are having a quiet night in (!) with champagne and nice food from M&S.
Happy New Year !

CrazyBaubles · 31/12/2020 21:09

Ah Wreck. Can I ask if it's possible hormones are making it worse? I'm a bugger for doing that, especially with food, when I have PMT.

We've done the zoom quiz, heating has been turned up but I'm still freezing.
I've also had a little look on Fb and feel a bit guilty that my house is a tip and I'm on fleece pjs drinking rum rather than dressed up drinking champagne.

Happy New Year Constantly

Happy new year!

The kids wanted to see midnight, so we got them up to watch the fireworks, then they went back to bed.

We've had really loud fireworks going off all night here. Selfish knobs. I think it was worse than Bonfire Night.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 01/01/2021 08:29

Morning.
I know what you mean about the fireworks, there were some bunker busters going off around us from about 8pm. It's amazing how many people can't tell the time ffs.
🥶🥶Perishing cold out there this morning, just been out to put food out for the blackbirds etc. They sit on the fence waiting for me now. They've trained me well.😂😂

WreckTangled · 01/01/2021 08:39

Maybe crazy. Mid cycle but my boobs are really sore Grin

We had fireworks going off for ages last night a good hour or so, so loud and unnecessary. I feel for annoying with dogs.

I've booked a nice gardens place for a walk today. Couldn't get it until 2pm but that's fine plus nhs and one guest are free so saved £14 on entry fees.

Another day of 2° max temp so we will wrap up warm!

NoWordForFluffy · 01/01/2021 09:30

I suffer more, hormonally-speaking, at ovulation than before my period.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/01/2021 09:35

Morning Xmas Grin Happy New Year

We stayed up for the Bells , lazy lie in this morning , plans for today to tidy away the Christmas decorations .
The Christmas Fridge is looking a bit sad now . A block of wendsleydale and about 4 cartons of Tropicana . I think even "Ready Steady Cook" would struggle with that but we have lasagne for tonight so that's all good .

CrazyBaubles · 01/01/2021 10:52

Happy New Year!

Loads of fireworks from around 9pm last night. Poor ddog was beside himself.
Also, 3 of our neighbours had parties then were all on the street at 12, hugging and singing. Would be nice in Norma years (but they've never done it in the 10+ years I've lived here) but now there are Covid rules saying you shouldn't, there they were Angry

My sympathies to your sad fridge 70 Xmas Grin
We have Turkey pie for tea which I'm looking forward to.

Fluffy I'm terrible in the lead up to my period - everything irritates me for almost a week, then everything makes me all emotional and weepy for almost a week, then period happens and I feel like I've climbed mountains every day I'm so tired. The only good thing about my issues is that it doesn't happen regularly or I wouldn't cope!

More packing and tidying today I think (when we finally get going - we're having sausage sandwiches first).

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 01/01/2021 12:00

Happy New Year everyone. We are having lasagne as well 70.

Was a different evening to usual last night but quite nice. We played a couple of games and I watched a film with my son.

Sideorderofchips · 01/01/2021 12:15

Happy new year! Can't be worse than last year

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 01/01/2021 12:57

Side, don't say that...back in October I joked that the only way out of tier 3 was tier 4, then 5 before they'd "invented" tier 4 🤦🏻‍♀️😳😂

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 01/01/2021 13:13

Happy New Year all! I am so hopeful that we just have to get through this winter and the first bit of spring and then things will be better :)

WreckTangled · 01/01/2021 13:22

We're considering Edinburgh in December next year as we can't afford New York do you think that will be possible? I do hope so.

We might get Indian tonight to make up for last night Grin

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 01/01/2021 13:46

Do you mean December this year wreck? Unless something goes horribly wrong with the vaccination program i can't see restrictions in the UK at least lasting beyond the summer.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/01/2021 14:41

My apparent vaccination date is predicted to be September. I'd think most will be done by then.

NerosFiddle · 01/01/2021 15:23

Afternoon.

More turkey and ham today. It's a good job I like it 😂

I'm supposed to be getting the vaccine end of Feb/ March. I'd say it'll be a lot later than that though

NoWordForFluffy · 01/01/2021 16:59

You'll be on turkey til next Christmas, Neros! 😂😂

WreckTangled · 01/01/2021 16:59

Haha yes I mean this year.

My trust have stated vaccinating hoping to get mine in the next couple of weeks.

CrazyBaubles · 01/01/2021 19:52

Yes to Edinburgh in December Wreck. I love it there and they have a great Christmas market.

Side fingers crossed for a much better year for you.

How do you know when you're getting the vaccine?

We enjoyed our Turkey pie (it's basically Leftover Christmas dinner pie - Turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets and cranberries) 😋 Now watching Cobra Kai while I cross stitch with ddog snoring on me in his Christmas jumper that's been missing for 2 years and found today while packing
