Just that really. Do you have a special ‘Christmas Eve meal? Takeaway? Buffet?

I’d quite like to have a Christmas Eve tradition regards food... something a little special. am liking the idea of tapas. Ham, egg and chips also sounds good!

Portobello mushroom stuffed with garlic cream cheese, and courgettes with herb butter.

y0rkier0se · 24/12/2020 21:23

Fillet steak, fries & garlic mushrooms Grin

lazylinguist · 24/12/2020 21:24

Cold raised game pie (made by dh) with peas and buttered new potatoes.

elsielegallez · 24/12/2020 21:25

New Christmas tradition of Christmas ham, eggs and chips!

Quornflakegirl · 24/12/2020 21:25

A cheese board, crackers and a charcuterie wreath that my family were pretty impressed with.

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 24/12/2020 21:26

Salmon fishcakes with a corn on the cob.

BooFuckingHoo2 · 24/12/2020 21:28

We had a big selection of hot and cold canapés, avocado with prawn cocktail, cheese and meat platter, followed by a selection of small desserts 😍 delicious without giving me a takeaway “hangover” so I can enjoy Christmas dinner tomorrow! Plus very minimal cooking!

loadypoady · 24/12/2020 21:30

Moules frites and crusty baguette.
It was to die for.

Floralnomad · 24/12/2020 21:31

We have always had a buffet on Christmas Eve from about 2pm , obviously different this year as no friends / extended family so we just scaled it down . This evening we’ve had a baked Camembert with crusty bread which was lovely .

Chunkyetfunky90 · 24/12/2020 21:32

Picky tea all bits from M&S ......FYI the chicken donuts 🤤🤤

Choccyp1g · 24/12/2020 21:32

We always have steak; sometimes with chips, or dauphinoise, but this year it was with creamy mash, carrots, green beans and peppercorn sauce.

tigerbear · 24/12/2020 21:33

DP made my favourite dinner - Roast duck with red onions, balsamic vinegar and honey, roast potatoes and broccoli

Then cheese, crackers and crisps.

ApolloandDaphne · 24/12/2020 21:33

We had Tex Mex pulled pork with flour tortillas, sour cream, home made guacamole, jalapeños and shredded lettuce. It was delicious.

CelieandNettie · 24/12/2020 21:33

Pork pies and after eights

Pipandmum · 24/12/2020 21:34

Nothing special. Chicken kiev, potatoes and veg while watching Bridget Jones Diary.

Stickybbqwings · 24/12/2020 21:35

We had pasta from Scarpetta. I’m not sure I’d recommend it. Pasta Evangelists is a lot nicer

DelphineWalsh · 24/12/2020 21:35

Roast lamb. Not doing the big dinner tomorrow.

Palavah · 24/12/2020 21:36

Salmon en croute with broccoli. Baked camembert with celery, little gem, cherry toms, gherkins and buttered new potatoes last night.

I like having fish on christmas eve as it's lighter before the pigfest of 25/12.

Holothane · 24/12/2020 21:39

Turkey and pickles sandwiches. We’re doing the beef tomorrow.

GrouchyKiwi · 24/12/2020 21:39

We had bacon & egg pie with salad.

I'd like to have macaroni cheese as the traditional Christmas Eve meal, but two of my children don't like it (the weirdos), so I make whatever I feel like on the day instead.

Grumpetvoluntary · 24/12/2020 21:40

Roast pheasant with dauphinois potatoes and broccoli. It was lovely and the first time I've cooked pheasant- I think it will become a new Christmas Eve tradition!

Napqueen1234 · 24/12/2020 21:41

Our tradition Christmas Eve was a nice pub tea. Not possible this year (and have two small kids) so we collected pizzas from a lovely local restaurant and had them in front of a film. Bliss and now definitely a new tradition.

bluechameleon · 24/12/2020 21:41

Party food - some nice stuff like mini pies and toad in the hole from M&S, cheese, pate, crackers, crisps, garlic bread, sausage rolls, some token cucumber and tomatoes.

tallastrees · 24/12/2020 21:41

DH and I decided to whack on the Waitrose party food we had saved for NYE 😆 we've had that along with baked Camembert and a bottle of white wine.
