Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

@BunnyBerries I think the stripey bag tip was me last year, but I have been doing it for years now having originally probably read it on here. It is brilliant no need to wrap stocking fillers, but makes the unwrapping take longer. My favourite moment of the year i think is when we all snuggle in bed and open stockings.

We were going to send a hamper gift to a couple we know, but couldn't find one which was quite right always one or two things I knew would go to waste. Instead I ordered from a food company we often use superfood market. I don't know of any discount code, but just wanted to share the idea. They sell all kinds of food that you would find in a farm shop type place. So we sent tea, coffee, biscuits, fruit juice, dried fruit, crackers and (they are due a baby in the next few days) jars of pasta sauce, curry sauce and soup.

It won't be as nicely presented as a hamper, but we were able to choose things they liked. I ordered around midnight on Wednesday and it was dispatched and I was sent a tracking number by 10am on Thursday. So it should get there. Free delivery over £50. There are other similar shops im sure- i just suddenly realised it was a way to send a nice selection to family we won't see.

Wanted to say thank you for

@Trumpton

HELP MEEE ! I have taken a fancy to a Santa hat that I saw on tv . It’s a cheapie style but has Nordic type print on it rather than plain red .

I have driven myself mad trying to find one . I need it for wearing on Boxing Day when we have a tradition of “Hunting The Wren “ around the island . It’s a song and dance ( literally) and we raise funds for our local hospice . I lead it so would quite like a different hat .
Help oh please wise people !

In W H Smith this morning and they had table top football and air hockey games for £12.49 each. Thought they may be handy if anyone is looking for bits?
I would also like to say a Massive thank you to everyone on here, this is my first year on here and I’ve loved every minute of it. You’ve all helped me so much with my gift buying, with your bargains tips and ideas. I’d like to say I’m finished but ...but I can’t resist a bargain, even if it goes away for next year!

Riverhouse · 11/12/2020 16:16

@Luxplus I never knew until I saw the photos but I really need one of those hats 😂. Do you know what they're called to Google them? Thanks

VictoriaClaire28 · 11/12/2020 16:21

Has anyone seen any watch winder boxes for a male, that don't cost an arm and a leg? John Lewis has a nice one but it is £200!

Can anyone help me with a difficult gift? Cousin & his wife have had a hard year, I want to get them something really nice (we are close). They don't drink, aren't really food people, they do like a spa but obviously that's out at the moment. Am thinking of Jo Malone candle or Aesop hand soap but I'm the polar opposite and just about manage to remember to wash my face so I have no idea what's in this year.

If you're a soap / candle person what would you love? Budget about £100.

Neom do a candle which is also a skin treatment, so you light the candle and when it has melted you pour the wax onto your skin.
Riverhouse · 11/12/2020 16:45

@Luxplus Thanks!!!
Thanks to this thread I'm finished my shopping but keep coming back for the nice atmosphere and chat. I need to stop being tempted though!

Another vote for Neom here. I use their products all the time and love their candles and skin care.

Pretty please can someone remind me of the sweets deal? I have a feeling I've missed it but just wanted to check and I can't find it!

thisisexhausting · 11/12/2020 16:53

I wonder if anyone remember the fake dr martens boots on Etsy? My dd2 would love a pair of those. She's just out grown her lace up boots.
Thanks x

these are the ones I bought, the seller has other colours I think. Haven’t tried mine in yet as they are for Christmas, they are not leather, a lot thinner material than the real thing but great for the price and probably don’t need as much wearing in as the real thing.
thisisexhausting · 11/12/2020 17:14

Thanks Lovemusic33, I'm off to take a look now x
