Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets

Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@Sunshineskies We used Photobox and were happy with quality.
Other ideas:
Travel magazine subscription eg Wanderlust, Conde Nast traveller, Lonely Planet
There are some lovely hardback travel inspiration type books around (can't remember titles but along the lines of '100 best places...')
Rough guide/Lonely planet guide to places he'd like to visit (if you know)
Travel journal/planner
Water filter drinking bottle, if his travels take him to more adventurous places
Travel wallet/tech holder (small case thing that holds all leads/chargers etc.)

Scandi gifts:

A hoptimist (Not cheap, but a classic)

Danish liquorice (be warned!)

A Georg Jensen elephant bottle opener (Again, not cheap, but it’s a piece of classic Scandinavian design, and functional too!)

Scandinavian Kitchen does lots of Scandinavian foods/treats

Skandium does a wide range of items from Scandinavian brands

sorryiasked · 11/12/2020 12:40

TheLastStarfighter · 11/12/2020 12:54

@buckeejit my Eufy is finally on the way (15C Max), and I am feeling resentful of mine already. Hopefully I'll feel happier with it when the flours are magically cleaned each day Grin.

@cupofteap you asked about the hot chocolate shaker on thread 25. Literally all it does is shake the milk (or water) and chocolate together, allowing for the hot air to expand so it's not dangerous. So you heat whatever liquid you use to the temperature you want (hob, microwave or kettle) and then your finished hot chocolate is slightly cooler that the liquid you used. It takes about 10 seconds to shake it, so literally just about a minute to combine the hot liquid and chocolate, shake it, pour it, and rinse the shaker.

HoHoHolyMackerel · 11/12/2020 12:58

Can anyone recommend a flower delivery service with a bit of money off? I'm thinking of sending someone some flowers who's has a hard time lately.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 11/12/2020 13:01

Thanks @sorryiasked and @HollyandIvyandallthingsYule off for a look now

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 11/12/2020 13:06

@sunshineskies would a chilli bottle work? My Ds spends a lot of time in the gym and has a matt black one that he keeps In his gym bag purely for water....and if he's not enthusiastic you can slip it in your bag once he's opened it, and use it yourself Grin

TheLastStarfighter · 11/12/2020 13:07

@SparklingLime Do you have a referral code for Lilysilk? I am about to place an order. Pop it on the referral thread if you so.

@Sunshineskies how about something a bit different for your Dad? A wooden automata kit for him to build? Could turn into a new hobby!

Alltherum · 11/12/2020 13:07

Some sizes of the Minecraft Christmas jumpers are back in stock on the Asda website. I remember someone was after one on the last thread.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 11/12/2020 13:10

@Spiderbee, we have www.johnlewis.com/ion-max-lp-conversion-turntable-with-speakers/p2311289#product this record player which I think is still available elsewhere, or ones from the same manufacturer anyway. We really like it.

Iggi999 · 11/12/2020 13:13

Just bought that Baker Street game, thanks for the tip!

Trumpton · 11/12/2020 13:20

HELP MEEE !
I have taken a fancy to a Santa hat that I saw on tv . It’s a cheapie style but has Nordic type print on it rather than plain red .

I have driven myself mad trying to find one . I need it for wearing on Boxing Day when we have a tradition of “Hunting The Wren “ around the island . It’s a song and dance ( literally) and we raise funds for our local hospice . I lead it so would quite like a different hat .
Help oh please wise people !

Elieza · 11/12/2020 13:20

MOLTON BROWN

On qvc shopping channel Today’s Special Value is £44 delivery incl for three regular size bottles (usually around £20 each so £60 worth) and a small shampoo, conditioner and toiletry bag. (Not sure how much that would cost)

Two choices, warm has suede orris yang-ylang and heavenly ginger Lilly. With thickening hair products and pink bag.

And fresh has bushucan (scuse spelling, I think they said it was citrus) eucalyptus and white mulberry with Indian cress (I think that’s what she said) and conditioner with navy bag.

FizzyPink · 11/12/2020 13:21

@TimeToCloseTheDoor my DP has recently bought himself this one which he says is excellent for getting lots of food in - www.amazon.co.uk/PuTwo-Insulated-Lunch-Bag-8L/dp/B01I0YT8KU/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=black+lunch+bag&sprefix=black+lunch&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1607692804&sr=8-8

I think it makes him look like a photographer but haven’t told him that Grin
