Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

Thanks for the Molton Brown deal. Got a £10 referral code so 3 full size items and two smaller ones and a bag for less than £34 delivered is a good deal. Will help a couple of last minute gifts.

I have a referral link if anyone would like.

Fuckingfuckssake · 11/12/2020 21:55

@ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy

DHL deliver booze for companies but not individuals. DPD may be the same. Hermes also deliver items for companies that they don't for individuals.

I was roundly bollocked by DHL for sending booze, despite M&S having used them for the same item!

@NoWordForFluffy is the one to ask, I sent her a spare bottle of M&S gin when hers went awol, she organised the courier.

I am NoWord with a Christmas name change! Xmas Smile

WisestIsShe · 11/12/2020 22:09

Has anyone seen the deluxe Scrabble at a reasonable price anywhere?

slithytoveisascientist · 11/12/2020 22:17

I won’t send the booze, it was only frexinet Prosecco so will keep for myself 😂

Junobug · 11/12/2020 22:21

On the theme of Nordic gifts. My mil has asked for wool socks and I thought Nordic patterned ones would be nice. Has anyone had any that they would recommend?

Hi all, thank you so much for everything so far. I am very nearly done. Oodies arrived today but because the DCs came home from school early feeling unwell (they are actually fine and shouldn't have been sent home at all 🙄) I haven't been able to open them yet!

The present I have yet to buy is for my godmother. She likes quilting. Any recommendations for where to buy fat quarters? Are the ones on Amazon OK (would help as I could deliver direct) TIA!

I had such a thoughtful secret Santa gift today thought I would mention in case inspirational. It was all French things (fizz, chocolate, a calendar with French scenes, a fridge magnet) and a note saying 'A taste of what you have missed this year' we go to France at least 3x a year - except 2020 of course and it was therefore such a lovely gift to receive.

Rockhopper81 · 11/12/2020 22:44

Amazon have 'How to Draw Unicorns and Other Cute Animals' for £3.

Book Here

It's the same illustrator as the 'How to Draw Christmas' that was shared a couple of threads ago. Might be useful to some - I'm grabbing a copy for £3 as these types of books are generally good go-tos here!

IggyAce · 11/12/2020 23:22

Just in case anyone needs it National Trust are offering free delivery on their shop with code FREENTDEL valid until 21/12.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 12/12/2020 00:06

Incase anyone else is looking, the works have the logo game 2nd edition for £20 cheapest ive found it! I ordered some random bits to make it to the £30 free delivery, MYVC20 takes 20% off (but not on the logo game or a few other things)

I'm waiting on a few deliveries, ive got something at the post office and it could be anything at this point! Ive been ordering randomly for the last week or 2 😂

Trumpton · 12/12/2020 00:09

Thisyearis2020 · 12/12/2020 00:09

@Iggyace, I ordered a couple of diaries from the National Trust on 26 November.

I had an email from them last Sunday to say they had been shipped and should arrive in 3 - 5 days, which they haven’t.

Another email arrived today saying they are aware of the delay, how busy they are, and so on.

So, I would order from them again but not for anything I needed before Christmas.

bettythebuilder · 12/12/2020 00:38

@Sunshineskies a digital luggage scale for your Dad? You can pick them up in a lot of places, I got one for dh from Dunelm for a fiver. So you can weigh your luggage and hand baggage accurately, and avoid airline excess baggage charges, very useful!

lolarabbit · 12/12/2020 00:49

@1stMrsFatherChristmas to be honest Amazon fat quarters are a bit of a mixed bunch but you should be OK if you check reviews, make sure they are full size fat quarters and don't go for something that sounds cheap (it probably will be poor quality). Depending on how much you want to spend, I wonder if a fabric jelly roll would be a great gift for a quilter - like this one. I'm very much a beginner though so not sure.

Has anyone seen the deluxe Scrabble at a reasonable price anywhere?
*@WisestIsShe* Try the Entertainer, they've reduced all the different scrabble sets.

IggyAce · 12/12/2020 05:53

@Thisyearis2020 my order was shipped Sunday & arrived yesterday so hopefully your order will arrive very soon. It’s via Royal Mail & looks like it’s been held up in their backlog. But I agree I probably wouldn’t bank on receiving anything ordered now before Xmas if it going via Royal Mail.

EweSurname · 12/12/2020 06:23

DP announced last night that his DM would like a warm dressing gown.

She’s a lady of fairly refined taste and usually opts for natural fibres etc but I’m not sure a 100% cotton dressing gown would be cosy. I’m totally lost Confused

Any ideas of where to find such an item?

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 12/12/2020 06:26

I have a thin dressing gown and it's definitely not warm and cosy. It's fine if you're wafting about doing stuff, but if its purpose is for warmth whilst sitting, it's probably not right! I got it from Lands End if you wanted to look.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 12/12/2020 06:29

Lands End dressing gowns.

There's 50% off full price items today. Maybe one of the Sherpa fleece ones is more her thing?

Fab!

CoveHid · 12/12/2020 06:47

Sherpa fleece sounds amazing! Thanks so much
