Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Amazon have Sicilian lemon Gordon’s gin for just over a tenner if you tick to apply the £2.38 voucher.
I also got a play dough Naybelle Show Pony for £8.24 for DD, quite tempted to buy another for the “oh shit I need a gift” box.

margaritasbythesea · 17/12/2020 20:34

Great tip on the gin. Thank you.

I also noticed they had LED lights and fabric paints on lightning deals. I think they have been listening to our chats about LEds and crafty kids!

HoHoHolyMackerel · 17/12/2020 21:02

Thanks for the bodum tip. Just found out bil is mad about tea so bagged the tea press and cosy for his birthday..... In September Hmm but its such a huge saving I can't justify not squirreling it away!! I think this thread has done me in

HoHoHolyMackerel · 17/12/2020 21:03

I mean £4.85 for a litre tea pot and cosy... The mind boggles...

Jfw82 · 17/12/2020 21:27

Did not need the gin but an extra present for me...

@Lovemusic33 My DD also has most of the Lego cars, she has an obesssion with cars and can recognise them from a fleeting glimpse!!! I've bought her a light set for her Ford Mustang, which I know will go down well, I've also picked her up some bonnet badges from eBay, she had some for her 16th which most definitely had a 'wow' factor for her!!!

My dd is the same, she would love the car badges too, I will have a look on ebay 😊

@11

@1122christy thanks for all the ideas, I'm going to look at them now online x

GoblinDaughter · 18/12/2020 00:30

If a book is out of stock on Amazon, Waterstones, books4people and WHSmith where else would you try?

Also if you could all stop talking about last minute gifts I’d very much appreciate it! I’m still so far behind with loads left to buy Xmas Shock

elsielegallez · 18/12/2020 01:22

@GoblinDaughter - Wordery?

Mahonia · 18/12/2020 02:03

@GoblinDaughter have you tried book depository?

Alternatively let us know the book and I'm sure someone will find it for you!

GoblinDaughter · 18/12/2020 03:00

Thank you @elsielegallez but no luck. It’s this book: The Art of Star Wars: The Mandalorian (Season One) by Phil Szostak

I don’t know why I’m so dire at Christmas this year I’m normally alright.

@GoblinDaughter that book is available on forbiddenplanet.com for £21.99 however I note it's pre order as the book doesn't actually come out till January. I think book depository also had it on pre order but for £30.

MysweetAudrina · 18/12/2020 05:22

Just got an email from courier company to say my 2 oodies will be delivered on Monday. I was getting worried as the despatch date was 15 Dec and I got an email from oodie on 16 Dec to say they would be despatched within 3 days. It's my last essential delivery and one of them in particular I was hoping would arrive pre Christmas so happy now.

ThePurpleGirl · 18/12/2020 05:52

@GoblinDaughter further to @MattTebbutsForearms response, HMV also have it on pre- order for 21th Jan, and WHSmith say its available for £24 with dispatch in 1-2 weeks, so a bit sooner but still not in time for Christmas. If you know some in the US Barnes and Noble seem to actually have it in stock but they don't deliver to the UK so you'd need somebody out there to buy it and post it on.
ThePurpleGirl · 18/12/2020 06:14

And now I have a plea for help of my own!

I've got my DB coming to us for Christmas as he's on his own so he's joining our Christmas bubble. We usually just do a small token gift between us - I've bought him a Dunedin scarf from the earlier thread. However, DD was asking me yesterday when he's coming, and when I said he'd be here Christmas Eve, she said "oh good, that means Santa will bring him a present here"! Xmas Shock I have no idea what to buy him as I know very little of his life as he lives 3.5 hours away and only visits about 3 times a year (in normal times) and never stays more than 1 night, and we're never invited up to him. This year we haven't seen him at all. What on earth do I buy so there's a present from Santa as well as from us? Xmas Confused

He's (very) late 30s, into computers but has everything, into whisky but I don't know which ones, and I've already got him glasses and whisky stones in previous years, and he's been a Man U fan since he was about 11.

I can't really say the scarf is from Santa and buy something else from us as I also got those scarves for several other people Xmas Grin, and DD will question it. I don't have a set budget but would aim for under £20, although I would spend a bit more for something perfect.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Xmas Smile

margaritasbythesea · 18/12/2020 06:51

I would just get a bottle of whiskey tbh Thepurplegirl but what about a Chillys bottle or an aeropress?

Ehunt1 · 18/12/2020 06:59

If anyone is looking for a Nintendo switch, Smyths have them back in stock for home delivery

IggyAce · 18/12/2020 07:03

@ThePurpleGirl
Man United annual (if they do one)
My dh likes Monkey Shoulder whiskey, the bottle is nice on this one.

RugsEverywhere · 18/12/2020 07:36

@ThePurpleGirl could santa bring your brother something to do with your family whilst he's visiting, e.g. board game, jigsaw, some kind of model to make

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 18/12/2020 07:39

Man U calendar. Can get official one or from those calendar shops.
Though tbh I would tell a child Santa doesn't come to grown ups, or she will wonder why her parents don't get anything!

OhRex · 18/12/2020 08:05

Just twitched on a weighted blanket Confused

ThePurpleGirl · 18/12/2020 08:29

Thanks for all the suggestions.

@RugsEverywhere that's a brilliant idea - I had a family board game that was going to be labelled "To the PurpleGirl family from Santa" so I'll just add "and Uncle xxx" to it.

I realised I needed to get him another present from me anyway as DBIL and DSIL make up the third household in our bubble and are joining us on Boxing Day for a couple of hours, and I've bought them the scarves and one more thing each. I was suddenly struck with inspiration based on gifts I've previously bought DH from these threads, and I found a Grid-It for £7 on an Amazon Warehouse deal (just the packaging damaged) and a Key Smart for £8, so I think I'm sorted now! Phew!
