Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

I'm loving the snow-machine! We're going snow hunting on the 23rd when school finishes. Scotland so hope so!

Can I just say to anyone needing presents delivered on time MandM direct are brilliant- I ordered Fri night and it arrived yesterday, all brands and great deals.

@Delahot

I am buying a small chocolate reindeer for my class. Any ideas what I could substitute for a child who is vegan and a child with an egg allergy please x
If you have home bargains near you I'd suggest their Christmas pencils as they have 10 for a pound with a festive rubber too
DonkeyMcFluff · 15/12/2020 18:56

What would you buy for a cousin in her 20s for about £25? What have been the superstar gift ideas this year? 🙏

Bluewavescrashing · 15/12/2020 19:04

Please link to snow machine! ❄️

SomethingInTheWaySheCooks · 15/12/2020 19:29

Re the snow machine - I have no idea how it works! It was sort of a whimsical purchase for someone I know would like a white Christmas. I’ll report back in the New Year!

Can anyone recommend a spy pen please? An invisible ink type pen. There's a few available but I'm guessing very mixed quality.

Carriemac · 15/12/2020 19:50

Thank you to whoever recommended the M&S bouquet for£20 - just set it to SIL who is spending Christmas mostly alone .
Other SIL has decreed no adult presents this year which is unfair I feel for whose without kids as they still have to buy for nieces and nephew and get nothing

OrigamiPenguinArmy · 15/12/2020 19:53

I used to come across snow machines quite regularly in my old job (entertainment industry). They usually work by pumping a colourless, odourless soap based liquid through a mechanism which froths the liquid up, then this froth is blown out the front by a fan. The froth should separate into small bits which float around like snow, it looks best if you put the machine above head height so it falls downward.

Just be warned the “snow” will re-liquify eventually, and when it does it leaves a slippery layer wherever it’s fallen. I wouldn’t recommend using a snow machine indoors for a prolonged period of time or near any easily stained upholstery.

SewVeryLazy · 15/12/2020 19:55

Anything hamper style that I can send directly to recipients for about £25 that doesn't look completely lame? And I don't know what alcohol they prefer so probably without any is best. I think I missed all the bargains and my husband hasnt bothered doing his only job

Yeknom · 15/12/2020 19:59

I know this was on the VERY early threads...but those lovely strip lights for under beds...was there a particular recommendation for some? My DH has promised DD some coloured lights 🙄

Yeknom · 15/12/2020 20:00

What about a cheese hamper? I used Northumberland cheese company in lockdown 1 and their customer service was amazing!

Yeknom · 15/12/2020 20:00

Sorry above cheese idea was for @SewVeryLazy !

I've ordered these, but not sure how good they are yet: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08B3CRB5B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

Please can anyone recommend unisex fleecy slipper socks that go up to an adult size 9? Thank you Smile

Theimpossiblegirl · 15/12/2020 20:38

@SomethingInTheWaySheCooks

Oh dear I’ve just bought a snow machine 😂 and I can’t even recommend it as it wasn’t bargainous 😊
Us too! We used it to help create a European Christmas market in the back garden! Didn't charge £6+ a time for mulled wine though, so not completely authentic.
sleepismysuperpower1 · 15/12/2020 20:38

@SewVeryLazy it's not a hamper, but i've ordered from this edible flower (they make flowers out of fruit) company before and have been pleased with them

I got some grey ones from Dunelm. Not very swish but very warm and cheap about £6, and comfy on my size 42s
thegirlwithkaleidoscopeeyes · 15/12/2020 21:09

They sound perfect herecomesthesun and Dunelm isn’t too far away. Thank you

Anyone recommend somewhere to print a load of pictures 3×3 inches? The smallest size I can find online is 4 inches or bonusprint who ruined a set of photobooks a few years back, so never again.
