Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.

lolarabbit · 12/12/2020 20:15

@runningpink what about a customisable cookie stamp as a fun baking gift? Like this one

Sneezein3s · 12/12/2020 20:15

I’ve left buying wrapping paper very late this year. I usually buy a few rolls of the double sided super long rolls from Costco. Now I can’t remember how long the super long rolls are so I can’t decide what size rolls to buy? Can anyone help, I feel like I’m going round in circles!

Well, I've just had the most amazing bargain!

In our city centre Waitrose, getting the Christmas drinks sorted. 4 year old DD was helping me to load the bottles under DS's buggy (Blush). The very lovely lady on the checkout praised DD for helping, and asked if we were in a hurry? She then said that she was able to let DD choose a toy, absolutely free! We asked what sort, and she said "anything you like, so choose a good one!" and to make sure we went back to her till.

DD found a Lego ice cream van she really liked (£18), so we took that set (+ cheaper one, just in case) back to the cashier.

She put the £18 set through as "it's on us" on the receipt, and DD was completely thrilled (as was I!)

Waitrose, and the dark haired lady on checkout 3, you made a little girl very happy today!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 12/12/2020 20:37

That's so lovely.

I think Waitrose must have something set up that allows the people on checkouts to give a freebie every so often.

A friend of mine was buying a bottle of fizz and got talking to the woman on the checkout. She told her that she was celebrating getting her dream job after putting herself through uni as a single parent and the checkout woman said that the fizz was on Waitrose.

@Miathecat pm'd you

Rubyroo73 · 12/12/2020 21:01

@runningpink
Was also going to suggest morphe pallet (20% off on their website if you sign up) or nice make up bag, Bakedin mug cake?
There was a £5 off Bakedin referral on the referral thread so you could use that to get them both one for just a couple of pounds as a little extra with something else?

Chocolateteabag · 12/12/2020 21:09

@Salamander91 I have finally managed to get a refund from Matalan - bombarding them with DM's via Facebook finally got a response
Put together a message with your order number, brief detail of order & your name & address. Save it and keep copy pasting it in to the direct message box with a few "any updates"
I know they are bombarded right now but I think the squeaky wheel will get sorted out quicker than those who wait (I have faith they'll catch up)
I think you'll just get a refund as they just can't manage anything else (& I don't blame them for that)

SparklingLime · 12/12/2020 21:15

What with Crumpets to Tipperary and Last Minute Request for Golf Shoes, we are spoilt for new thread titles 🎉🎉

SparklingLime · 12/12/2020 21:16

Can anyone recommend a good fruit cake by post? Ideally a smallish company. The trustpilot reviews for Betty’s are appalling!

Ashmonster · 12/12/2020 21:28

I'm looking for a memory foam neck support pillow and I've managed to miss the last couple of deals that were posted. I don't suppose any you amazing bargain hunters have come across any have you? Thanks

I need help with an Xbox gift!

I want to buy DH a year of Xbox subscription. But I'm getting really confused between Ultimate Game Pass, Xbox live and Xbox Gold.

He doesn't do any online gaming at all. But I would like to give him something with access to the greatest number of different games. I can't work out which package is worth having, if you're not fussed about online gaming.

If anyone has teenagers, I'd really appreciate it if someone could pick their brains!

purplepandas · 12/12/2020 21:50

Thanks @Thisyearis2020, hope they arrive soon.

TwnklTwnklLittleStarfighter · 12/12/2020 22:04

@Autumnwoman
Xbox live and Xbox live Gold are focussed around multiplayer access.

Xbox game pass gives access to about 100 games on a subscription basis (you don’t get to keep them when the subscription is over).

Xbox game pass live gold combines both.

So if he’s not bothered about multiplayer just get the game pass. Remember you can get the first month for £1. I have found it pretty good value for the amount of content.

If you get the Game Pass you can always upgrade it to include multiplayer at a later date.
