Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Happy 25th Smile

Though I was done with the hard-to-find Christmas presents, but I am now looking for two Apex Legends Nessie plushies. Apparently they were released in November and were very popular, so I don’t think there’s much chance, but you guys are shopping ninjas so you never know.

@WisestIsShe if you want more functional ones I got some from eBay for about £5. They are equestrian ones as DD rides.
Fleece ear warmer headband should find them

Inastatus · 05/12/2020 11:59

@TheGirlWhoLived - I’ve just rung the shop and they’ve put one aside for me 😊 Thanks, I think I’ve forgotten how to shop in real shops, I’m so used to getting everything online!

TheGirlWhoLived · 05/12/2020 11:59

@inastatus, that’s odd- literally every single store says available round me! Obviously not massively popular here! I hadn’t heard of it before you mentioned so thanks!

Inastatus · 05/12/2020 12:02

Cross post 😅

Snow here yesterday in deepest Kent but was all gone after a couple of hours. As per usual, roads were chaos

JessicaJoans · 05/12/2020 12:12

@Riverhouse
Was it an otamatone?

SpamIAm · 05/12/2020 12:14

We'll be on 26 threads soon with all the celebrating 25 Grin I've been done for ages (although the twitch has been strong this year) - still have to check these threads several times a day though of course. That said, were off to see Father Christmas this afternoon and God knows what present request my daughter is going to come out with that she's never mentioned before, so I'll probably be needing more help 😂

My pukka tea arrived today. I'd totally forgotten about it until someone mentioned it yesterday. When did we even register for those?? Must have been back in the summer?

Can anyone recommend a good, single malt whisky please? I've had a Google but I know nothing about whisky!

These threads are amazing so thank you to everyone that contributes!

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 12:40

Do you want it smokey and peaty, or with a sweet quality like Christmas cake?

TildaTurnip · 05/12/2020 12:44
@TildaTurnip

It was me who bought the Switch from Very - mine is the same, says it should arrive today, but the most recent entry in Royal Mail is from 29/11 saying it's been dispatched by the seller, but nothing actually from them...I'm not panicking yet, but panic is definitely looming on the horizon...
Oh that’s interesting. Exactly the same as ours!

EvilHerbivore · 05/12/2020 12:48

I know I said I was done looking for cheap magic trick type stocking filters for DS1 stocking if anyone sees anything on their travels

YouReallyAre · 05/12/2020 13:00

I'm guessing smokey and peaty based on what I think they'd prefer.

@WisestIsShe I love a vintage light and have been on the hunt, I currently have 3000 lights on my tree and the longest string of filament lights I can find is 200! I thought it best to not bother!

The key wit coloured lights is to make sure they have the pink! Modern ones don’t have the pink and I swear that makes a huge difference to the way the look! I managed to salvage some of my old ones after realising how much I hated led last year, I wrapped the leds around the inside and used my old ones around the outside 🤣

Scout2016 · 05/12/2020 13:03

@EvilHerbivore someone recommended this place early which looks to have that sort of thing.
