Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@HollyandIvyandallthingsYule they were £56.
I too received my free pukka tea selection this morning, looks a lovely selection.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 10:12

Ah thanks Iggy - I realised I was being lazy and could look it up myself! 😁

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 05/12/2020 10:23

NOTHS have 15% off orders over £50 with code MAGIC15 - ends Monday

TildaTurnip · 05/12/2020 10:26

I can’t remember the username of who bought the Nintendo Switch from Very but if you’re reading this, did it turn up? We are still waiting for ours and it’s been dispatched but not received by Royal Mail for a week! Bit concerned we won’t be getting it at all.

WisestIsShe · 05/12/2020 10:30

Thanks @xoxogossipgirl2020 I wasn't really sure what she was talking about Xmas Blush

Also does anyone have any ideas about lights? I really really want coloured lights for my tree but I don't want the standard super bright LEDs. I want a soft, warm, vintage feel. Like they used to be!
I have some warm white lights in another room which can be dimmed but I can't find anything similar in coloured lights. Need about 1000 / 1200.
Any suggestions welcome.

Rockhopper81 · 05/12/2020 10:39

@TildaTurnip

It was me who bought the Switch from Very - mine is the same, says it should arrive today, but the most recent entry in Royal Mail is from 29/11 saying it's been dispatched by the seller, but nothing actually from them...I'm not panicking yet, but panic is definitely looming on the horizon...

Lellyo · 05/12/2020 10:40

Thank you everyone for all the support and deals that you have shared and to @Reastie .
Cox and Cox 20% off with EMI 1220
And this is a lovely little shop that sells candles etc they have 10% off with OLIVE10

Riverhouse · 05/12/2020 10:48

@kulaexchange. It was a DR.Q mini projector from Amazon. They're £55.99 atm. A bit noisier than more expensive ones but it has been fun to have.

Luxplus · 05/12/2020 10:49
@Luxplus I’d love the entertainer discount please! I haven’t even started my shopping 😩

@WisestIsShe you can probably get them in most fashionable shops! Primark have a black and a nude one with a big jewel encrusted thing on the front that are really nice at the moment!
I have PM you

Riverhouse · 05/12/2020 10:51

Sorry for long link, stupid phone!

A few threads back there was discussion about unusual musical instruments and I wanted to get DH one but I can't remember its name only what it looks like so here goes....it was about 20/30cm long with a handle and at the end was like a cylinder of bells or something that made the sound.
I know rubbish description but anyone know what it was? Thanks!

Inastatus · 05/12/2020 11:12

Oh didn’t realise there was a shiny new thread! I’ve just posted in the old one as I’m after the game ‘Herd Mentality’ if anyone knows where I can get hold of it. Thanks.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 05/12/2020 11:16

happy 25th thread!
I have a code for 15% off at the entertainer, which apparently works on both sale and full price items. I won't use it so PM me if you would like it, as it's single use

weebarra · 05/12/2020 11:18

DS1 & 2s switch has just died! It was quite old. Does anyone know where I might be able to get one?

mummabear74 · 05/12/2020 11:28

Someone posted earlier about getting new devices ready for the big day and this is a great thread on HDUK.

BunnyBerries · 05/12/2020 11:28

To add to the 15% eBay code from @IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts (PRESENTS15)

If you happen to have a Nectar card and linked it to your eBay you can get 20% off with NECTAR20 and can use the code 3 times (min spend £15)

lolarabbit · 05/12/2020 11:28

Sorry that was meant to be for @Riverhouse

Anydreamwilldo12 · 05/12/2020 11:29

Asos outlet have a three pack of DKNY trunks reduced to £14 and an extra 20% off using code EXTRA20FEELS. These will go sell out quickly I think

lolarabbit · 05/12/2020 11:30

I'll get this right in a minute @Riverhouse - do you mean a cabasa

TheCrow · 05/12/2020 11:31

Yay for 25 threads! 🎉 This is my first year here, thanks everyone for posting, found some great bargains thanks to you all

@Puffincrossing if you buy a digital copy of a game for the switch it downloads to the console straight away, you don't get a code or anything to redeem at a later date.

My contribution is that toys for a pound have Fortnite and FNAF stocking filler type bits in

TheGirlWhoLived · 05/12/2020 11:39

@Inastatus have you tried your local Waterstones all the ones round me have it for click and collect within 2 hours in the Midlands. Looks a good game!

TheGirlWhoLived · 05/12/2020 11:41

In fact I just reserved one Grin that’s herd mentality for you right there! I should be collecting a sheep not a cow

JingleCatJingle · 05/12/2020 11:41

Switch setup takes about 30 minutes. The Nintendo account is a pain! You can get games downloads cheaper with CDKeys, you can also get Nintendo switch online cheaper with CDKeys and look at getting a family account rather than a single one if you have more than one switch in the go.
Also, if you have more than one switch I’d suggest not downloading games as they are NOT TRANSFERRABLE! With physical copies you can transfer, share and sell if necessary.

lolarabbit · 05/12/2020 11:43

@Puffincrossing - you probably already know this, but you may need to buy an extra memory card.

Inastatus · 05/12/2020 11:51

@TheGirlWhoLived - I looked at Waterstones online but it says out of stock. I might ring my local one. Glad I inspired you and you got one Smile

TheGriffle · 05/12/2020 11:54

@WisestIsSheI really recommend cherry or berry lights they are gorgeous and have a vintage feel to me.

We got 500 lights for £29.99 in our local garden centre we got one set of coloured lights and one white so 1000 altogether on our 7ft tree. They are soft and lovely and so pretty. I have attached a couple of pics of what they look like, the mantle pic is just off ebay and one of my tree.
