Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Wow we got to 25! I've lurked on these threads last few years so this has been great to see.

Fuckingfuckssake · 05/12/2020 09:04

@Notlongnow1

Amazing!

Anyone seen any kids snuggle fleeces besides Next? Sizes i need not in stock sadly!

The Comfy Jr is in stock on Amazon but it's £30, I've never laid eyes on an actual Oodie but I'm really happy with this version.
HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 09:05

Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah! 🎈🎈🎈🥂🥂🥂🎉🎉🎉

I don’t frequent these thread too often as I try not to buy too much for Christmas, but I do dip in from time to time because it’s such a happy, friendly thread.

As it happens I have a question today...has anyone seen any good deals for good quality ladies’ dressing gowns? I’ve checked white company but the recipient is very petite so I think they will swamp her. I can’t buy from M&S/JL as I’m boycotting, I’ve looked at Joules but nothing seemed right...I can’t think of where else to look. Sainsbury’s might be an option, I suppose. Would ideally like to spend about £30 or £40.

OrigamiPenguinArmy · 05/12/2020 09:10

@HollyandIvyandallthingsYule Land’s End have a few, most of them have a petite option as well. www.landsend.co.uk/Women/Nightwear/Dressing_Gowns/ix-11335#scroll=505

NoWordForFluffy · 05/12/2020 09:11

Question: I've read on here before about checking your Christmas console is up to date before giving it to the kids, as otherwise they have to wait ages before it'll work. Do we think / know if the Switch needs such attention?

springlike · 05/12/2020 09:11

Happy 25 everyone! We finally got here Grin
@Puffincrossing if it's anything like buying an Xbox game code it goes to my email account and doesn't notify the player. I usually buy codes and passes on CD Keys website, always seems to be cheaper than elsewhere but don't know if they have whatever you are after.

Luxplus · 05/12/2020 09:18

20% off the entertainer voucher, let me know if someone wants it Xmas Grin

Rockhopper81 · 05/12/2020 09:25
@sunshineskies try Morrison's for pj's. I needed 7 pairs, and although I had to do it in a couple of orders due to stock levels, I got all mine last week. They were bargainous at 12£ for an adult, and they're lovely quality.
I second Morrison's for pyjamas if you can get them - I'm wearing them right now (penguin ones) and they're really, really soft and comfortable!

IggyAce · 05/12/2020 09:27

@HollyandIvyandallthingsYule Morrison’s have this one. Fat Face had a couple but they were over your budget unless someone has a voucher/code.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 09:30

@IggyAce Thank you! That’s a good shout as I’m going to Morrison’s today. Just out of interest do you remember the Fat Face price? It’s not a fixed budget, I just wanted I to give people an idea of what price level to recommend...

woodwaj · 05/12/2020 09:39

@HollyandIvyandallthingsYule boux avenue?

Following on the bad deliveries theme. Currently chasing Yodel for a smyths parcel that was apparently delivered but is nowhere to be found and paperchase for my multipack of Xmas cards but then sent a single panda birthday card. Its so hard to speak to someone to resolve issues!

xoxogossipgirl2020 · 05/12/2020 09:44

@Luxplus I’d love the entertainer discount please! I haven’t even started my shopping 😩

@WisestIsShe you can probably get them in most fashionable shops! Primark have a black and a nude one with a big jewel encrusted thing on the front that are really nice at the moment!

xoxogossipgirl2020 · 05/12/2020 09:47

@WisestIsShe something similar to this...

Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!
Imsayingnothing · 05/12/2020 09:49

Wow 25 threads 🤸

@IggyAce we had snow yesterday and the day before but then it rained heavily yesterday and washed it all away.

Any ideas for a present for a teenage boy 14 years old budget around £15? I'm stumped!

Tia

RJnomore1 · 05/12/2020 09:50

@Reastie name change fail 🙈

I’ve been here since the start I think, my kids are older so I don’t post often now as a lot of the bargains are but I had to say hi on the first ever 25th thread!

SomethingInTheWaySheCooks · 05/12/2020 09:57

25 threads! I have been following and posting on these threads for years under different user names. It’s a record! I am almost done. I’m waiting for two very specific hobby related gifts, one is being processed by the air carrier in Australia and one I’m told will be here by Christmas (it was ordered about 7 weeks ago!). I still need a couple of Switch games. I’m not at all sure about the downloads, or opening up a Nintendo account. We have a Wii u and therefore probably have an account, but neither dh not I know the login. I find it quite annoying that you can’t buy from the Nintendo store without an account, ie a physical game not a download!

Purpleheadgirl · 05/12/2020 09:58

Still on the hunt for a hobbycraft voucher / code please? Set up account but it's not letting me have any discount on first order

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 05/12/2020 10:00

Sales are definitely slowing - thankfully I'm all done because of this group! Happy 25th!!! 🎄🎅🏻 🎁 🔔 ❤️

eBay has 15% off selected sellers with code PRESENTS15 - ends 6th December

thelegohooverer · 05/12/2020 10:00

Woohoo 25 🎉

Thank you so much @Reastie for all the years of these threads. They’re such an integral part of the build up to Christmas.

EvilHerbivore · 05/12/2020 10:02

Not strictly Christmas but its my birthday this week and I've let the kids (9&7) on Amazon to buy some something secretly...anyone want to guess what I'll actually end up with?!

Carrie76 · 05/12/2020 10:02

Thread 25 momentous day Smile thanks Reastie. I have 2 Lakeland vouchers £5 off £30 and £10 off £60 if anyone wants them

yafilthyanimalandahappynewyear · 05/12/2020 10:04

*12 days of deals on the Playmobil website. Today is the Bundle Green Garden £50 down from £77.98!

buckeejit · 05/12/2020 10:04

25! 🎉💃🍾

So many thanks to all you lovely bargain hunters.

I'm pretty done if all the bloomin' things would arrive, but already miss the thought of the threads - I'm not sure how I've had time to work while keeping up to date! I'll try to wean myself off constantly checking now & wish y'all a very merry Christmas in case I actually manage it!

yafilthyanimalandahappynewyear · 05/12/2020 10:05

weebarra · 05/12/2020 10:10

Happy 25th thread!
I don't post a huge amount but I have a feeling I've been here from the beginning. Maybe 7 years? I know there was another poster from my MN antenatal group for DC3 on here and DC3 turned 7 in August.
