Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

Has anyone ordered from Zavvi and had problems I ordered a switch but it's saying dispatched but the tracking bumber on Hermes is just saying order created

AnnnaBananna · 04/12/2020 11:39

For people who were asking about foody presents, I can recommend www.spicebox.co.uk/

The normal curry mixes need to be refrigerated or frozen but the gift boxes don’t. I’ve just bought myself the Xmas Leftovers gift box which has curry mixes to use on Boxing Day. Their cookbook is fab too. Chuck in a few jars of pickles, poppadums and a set of balti dishes from Amazon to make a decent present.

princessbear80 · 04/12/2020 11:42

Thanks @WillSantaBeComingToTown, I’ve just ordered that advent calendar for next year. That’s the earliest I’ve ever started my Christmas shopping Grin

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 04/12/2020 11:57

Thanks @wildlynx but I must have missed it, says 4% now.

For the person who asked about gardening gifts: I use a photo album to store seed packets. You could include some packets of seeds?

Other ideas: a mug with a lid to keep insects out, a little trug basket and scissors for harvesting, or the new “Garden World” book by Monty Don.

I've pretty much done my three kids, 15, 11 & 5, but MIL has dropped off £50 each to get them presents. If you had another £50 to spend in your DC's what would you get? Out of ideas!

Jacopone · 04/12/2020 12:05

Thanks @BeaLola for confirming that it is indeed enjoyed by your son. Yes, I’ve checked that I’m after a nonbayonet type😁. But cannot order today as delivery would be tomorrow and they all be at home nosying around. Gosh, logistics amd planning of Christmas is sometimes driving me potty.

Chocolateteabag · 04/12/2020 12:05

@buckeejit - my Eufy arrived on Sunday (via Amazon) - sadly he doesn't want to charge up so I'm having to sort a replacement battery (but at least I could get on to their Customer services quickly - not like flipping Matalan!)

I think there are huge delivery issues going on everywhere which was always going to be expected

Itsonlymakebelieve · 04/12/2020 12:05

Playmobil isn't something they go off- so a great thing to buy ahead

Advents make nice last Oct/Nov birthday gifts as well.

Icantfindanewname · 04/12/2020 12:07

I'm looking for something which isn't a Sketcher Projector or an led light box previously mentioned on this thread and I don't know what to search for! It needs to be like the led light box with USB connection, but I want to be able to send pictures from a tablet to the light box to be able to trace them. Does such a thing exist oh wise mumsnetters? My daughter would have her Christmas made with one of these. Thank you!

15 year old- cash 11 year old a a small but exciting gift-depends on age and £35-40 saved for later in the year when they want something

5 year old- probably same as 11 year old

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 04/12/2020 12:15

@elizabethtailor I have a 15 year old who sounds almost identical. Have a look at the woodland gift company, I've got some lovely bits for my girls from there, and the packaging is just lovely.

WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 04/12/2020 12:17

@WillSantaBeComingToTown MIL has asked us to buy them presents! And I have so many toys and sweets already for them.

I am thinking maybe a subscription or something to 'do', (what I dont know) unless this thread comes up with an idea I haven't thought of 🤞

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 04/12/2020 12:19

well my curry's chaps got here early, so new washing machine being fitted
it just feels really weird having other people in the house Confused

Just stand firm- if she can't be arsed to get presents and do the work she doesnt get to dictate . My PIL send money for gifts for mine for 20 years- never enough a gift. Cash or saved.

Go Henry cards for the eldest 2? Maybe youngest with supervision? That is a gift but also money

Or an x box/ ps voucher for the oldest?
Other than that or amazon I would avoid vouchers

Clevererthanyou · 04/12/2020 12:25

Many thanks to the posters who told me about all the soap websites and double treble thanks to whomever mentioned the Scottish National Trust site as I’ve got a free highland cow teddy and he’s beautiful!

Very sweet and cudly looking handsome little cow!

SparklingLime · 04/12/2020 12:35

Ooh! Is that actual Oodies, not another company? That’s great news if they’re ahead of schedule!
