Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.

@SkintSanta thank you. All I’ve had so far is an email saying it’s on track to be dispatched soon but that was two days ago and thought it should have at least been dispatched by today seeing as it said 3-5 working days delivery ☹️

Jacopone · 04/12/2020 09:33

I can see the thread is accelerating as many of us still having delivery/ dispatch issues (I’m still waiting for my big Whittards delivery of teas after 2 full weeks and beginning to panic as need them for next week teachers/ staff gifts🙁). Still have got a reheated question re changing colour lightbulb. It was mentioned a few threads ago but typically I didn’t pay much attention and now think it could be a great present. Many to find online, but has anyone actually ordered/ have one? Can it be used in a regular lamp as a source of light or only for fun effects? Hope someone can enlighten me.

Jacopone · 04/12/2020 09:36

I think it was something like that

@LittleSquirrels Home Bargains have had a couple of Brio World sets recently, and TK Maxx sometimes has bits.

@Jacopone we had a colour changing bulb from Lidl. Don't think they have them at the moment, but yes it could be used in a normal lamp as a normal light (it had a white setting).

Any ideas for a 16 year old girl- not very ‘trendy’ as such. Would hate make up. Quite traditional and young for her age. Likes cooking and her dog. Have done simple pretty, stud earrings for the past couple of years. Am stumped as have toddlers!

YouWantToDoWhatInAPyrexDish · 04/12/2020 09:38

I’m getting a set of gloves hat and scarf from Mountain Warehouse. That comes to £15 but delivery is £4.50 (I can’t get to a store and their ebay shop has the items almost double the price). Any codes for free delivery or money off? I’m going through Quidco for the cash back.

PinkJam · 04/12/2020 09:39

Joules have 3 for 2 on selected gifts

RavelryReveller · 04/12/2020 09:46

@Casablanca78, I have just had an email from Aldi to say that my (pre-ordered) Velvitiser dupe has been dispatched.

This might mean they will have more stock online soon.

Sounds like my 16 year old, dd would say “cash” is her favourite gift though she would be happy with a sweet hamper, a simple necklace (maybe a dog paw print?), anything fluffy such as a fluffy blanket, dressing gown or slippers, a board game (I have bought dd ‘what do you meme’), chilli bottle or maybe art supplies if she likes art?
Jacopone · 04/12/2020 09:51

@SpamIAm, thanks a million for a speedy answer. I am going to get one right away, only need to make sure it’s not a delivery from China!

IggyAce · 04/12/2020 10:06

@Elizabethtailor how about a baking subscription or a baking hamper (mixing bowl, spatula, whisk & a couple of boxed cake mixes). I’m sure I’ve seen a bake your own dog treats kit. Not sure where but possibly Matalan or Primark.

Jacopone · 04/12/2020 10:24

@Elizabethtailor, depending what she is into - general cooking or just baking - some pretty design cookbook; perhaps some good classics by Michel Roux senior and a bakedin baking set? (elusive cinnamon buns in mind🙂). Fairy lights for her room, a photo frame, poster (Urban Outfitters for both), decent badminton set, pretty beanie hat and scarf. Just some ideas of gifts my daughter would enjoy.

Gardenworm · 04/12/2020 10:25

Ordered from curry's the other day..literally just before people started saying how bad they are. Email says subject to stock availability - well don't show it in stock in the first place! I'm not going to get it am I? Worse is that to get discount I bought an e gift card to pay for it so when I don't get it I'll just get another e gift card so I can groundhog my way through their poo poo customer service until they go bust 🤬

BeaLola · 04/12/2020 10:33

Jacopone.re light DS has it as his main bedroom light (check you buy with correct fixing) - it has a white light but tbf he prefers leaving it on say a coloured setting for when he goes to sleep . He loves it

Daisy829 · 04/12/2020 10:35

@MsMiaWallace I’ll pm you x

handmademitlove · 04/12/2020 10:38

For those trying to contact Currys, I have been able to chat with them using facebook - messenger. They seem to reply fairly quickly on there and are a bit more useful than the "virtual assistant" I spoke to yesterday.

ClaraLane · 04/12/2020 10:38

Just a recommendation from me - I bought some lovely bubble baths/bath bombs and hand soap from the Yorkshire Soap Company last week which arrived yesterday and smells absolutely glorious. Can thoroughly recommend! I’ve bought the Yorkshire Lass bubble bath and hand soap for my Nan and Mum who are both from Yorkshire so hopefully they’ll like it.

lotusbell · 04/12/2020 10:41

Sorry for totally hijacking the thread with Currys complaints but just received this on Twitter. Echo Dot ordered at 18.99, tracking never updated so assumed lost in transit. Price back up to 39.99 and now out of stock. Seems a lot of people are having issues with Curry's
@LostMyRubySlippers A faff indeed.

I think I will hang onto line until the January sales.
I was hoping to use it for MIL’s Jan birthday. We do have an outlet near us so once I’m certain it’s working I may brave a trip there! Otherwise I think I might be tempted to wait for the sales too!

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 04/12/2020 10:53

all this curry's chat is making me nervous.
our washing machine broke last weekend and new one - ordered by DH - being delivered from Curry's today
I am practically stalking the driver on line, and he's not even due here for another hour at least!

PatchworkElmer · 04/12/2020 10:57

Free shipping on character.com this weekend- code is RUDOLPH

sorryiasked · 04/12/2020 11:10

pink & greene half price xmas cards and (traditional) advent calendars

IggyAce · 04/12/2020 11:17

@ClaraLane I second the Yorkshire soap company, we always visit the York branch whenever we are in the city. I love their soaps they last ages. Hopefully if we move to tier 2 we will do our annual festive visit to York.

Gardenworm · 04/12/2020 11:23

@ClosedAuraOpenMind I reckon you're safe. Fingers crossed!
Fingers crossed to all fellow curry's waiters 😕😬
