Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Had a very mature and pragmatic conversation with DP earlier about waiting until some bills have gone out before we buy the Melissa and Doug magic set - despite it being a bargain and totally gorgeous - because we won't be giving it to DD until the end of Jan and we didn't actually know it existed until tonight.

Then, two minutes ago, I noticed it was still showing as £19.99 in my basket, clicked in, saw the offer clock ticking down to 1 minute 40 seconds and hit Buy Now. BaaaaaaaaBlush

Famousthehero · 01/12/2020 00:14

The book recommended on these threads 'how winston delivered Christmas' has price dropped to £5.10 for a day (will be a bit late for the start of advent but who's counting)

@AndddddHerewegoagain I think this was me?!?! I was looking for grinch pjs from Asda in an age 2-3 (they are white, with the more classic drawings of grinch dotted all over!!!!) if you come across any I would be so so so so grateful! I’m having no luck. I thought I’d sorted it then was let down - is there anything worse?! Thank you so much for thinking of me x

Famousthehero · 01/12/2020 05:48

@Puffalicious, I'm also thinking of getting one. The one I've seen on amazon is also on Lakeland (who won't deliver to me) but I figure if Lakeland stock it, it's likely to be decent)
Just checked and it's no longer reduced in Lakeland but it is on Amazon. The brand is Beurer. Otherwise there's another few reduced on Lakeland.

WisestIsShe · 01/12/2020 06:13

@Puffalicious Aldi may still have them in store near you, they do here. £34.99 but sold out online. Lakeland had one for £39.99 over the weekend but I've just checked and the cheapest is now £49.99
But honestly, it is worth it's weight in gold.

SomethingInTheWaySheCooks · 01/12/2020 07:17

@Theimpossiblegirl I think the trend now is to choose your own tarot deck, so it resonates with you! My mum reads them. I am sceptical!

buckeejit · 01/12/2020 07:28

@Puffalicious I bought this brown one maybe 5 years ago & it's still going strong. Great when it's Baltic!

Lovemusic33 · 01/12/2020 07:39

@Theimpossiblegirl

DD age 18 has decided that she would like some Tarot cards. I have no idea where to start. Any recommendations please?
There are many different types, I have several sets and do readings for friends (for fun, though one friend takes it very seriously), you can get basic sets where you just chose one card or the larger sets where you can chose up to 6 cards. Most decks are themed, I buy mine from a shop in Glastonbury so unsure the best place to buy online but I’m sure somewhere like Etsy would have a good selection.
WithIcePlease · 01/12/2020 07:40

Missed the buns again! And they've completely disappeared now - the kit with tins
I'm going to have to get the ones without the tin eventually as I want them for Xmas Eve box
I'll leave it a couple of weeks to see if restocked

Puffalicious · 01/12/2020 07:49

Thanks wisestisshe my Aldi is usually pretty good so I'll have a gander. buckeejit I said for the first time this winter on Sunday " It's pure Baltic today" Grin. As the garage becomes more popular (who would have thought this time last year that sitting amongst the bikes/ scooters/tools/ paint tins and car parts would be so attractive?!).

Happy Dec 1st everyone.

IndoorLiving · 01/12/2020 07:52

Thanks for the Decathlon heads up - managed to get an order in just before midnight.

Someone on another thread mentioned Jaques of London - www.jaqueslondon.co.uk/ Wish I’d found them before - some great family gifts on there. If you sign up you can get 20% off. Postage is reasonable too

Theimpossiblegirl · 01/12/2020 08:22

@Lovemusic33
Would the Glastonbury shops be open this weekend? I also need a starling picture for my sister. Thank you.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 01/12/2020 08:24

@Theimpossiblegirl, a Rider Waite deck would be a fab starting place. They're engaging, beautifully illustrated cards which take you through the Fool's journey - the story of tarot - in a way that is easy to understand. There are larger sizes of these decks available which are jolly useful for beginners needing a little help picking up on some of the nuances between similar seeming cards. For someone more comfortable with tarot and keen on quirkier takes on traditional stories, the Deviant Moon decks are extremely cool.

Lellyo · 01/12/2020 08:26

@Doordye

Any codes/offers on chilly bottles? Ta very much
@Doordye SHO had 50% off, not sure if they still do. I ordered over the weekend from them.
CoffeeAndEnnui · 01/12/2020 08:28

Aeclectic Tarot is a great resource for research or to check out reviews for any decks you find on your search.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 01/12/2020 08:29

Help please.

We gave DS his advent box today, which he confused with his stocking.

Apparently Santa is sending him a super powerful robot.

Any ideas what I could buy that fits the Bill??

He's 4, so the toddler toys won't be "super powerful" enough, but the really cool looking ones are 8+ and likely to be beyond him!
