It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Name of link

Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

Dh was lucky enough to grab a new Xbox when they were suddenly in stock online in the Microsoft store- he was in such a rush to check out that we both ‘think’ we saw shipping 1-2 days but doubt that bit is true.
It still shows as pending & the money has been taken pending in his account.

Has anyone else ordered one online and is this ok and will stay at that status until shipping?
If anyone else is after one I would really just keep randomly checking that store, he had been looking at all the shops non stop but they just weren’t in on the Microsoft store then suddenly on fri afternoon they were .

I think that’s what is making him nervous it’s too good to be true

Elskerdeg · 29/11/2020 10:06

@Bsgetty
Sometimes we play it with family who mainly speak another language and so to get around that we modify the rules slightly which I think would work for your 7 year old. At the start of the game everyone gets a card with 6 different possible things, and you roll a die to find out which one of those you will draw. We just say if it's is too complicated or unusual of a word you can choose another one. But everyone will need a word suitable as you either guess the word or draw a picture for everyone's card eventually. Hope that makes sense.
Too late now but I think there is a kids edition!
Such a fun game Smile

PinkDaydreams · 29/11/2020 10:12

Arrgghhhh maybe I should have got one in a storage box! I'll see how he gets on with this and get a box for his birthday shortly after Xmas

welshgirl666 · 29/11/2020 10:15

@carriemoonbeams i dont know how to link but the hot choc bombes we usually get are amazing and i saw they do a vegan version. They are cocoba and there are 3 in a green cracker packaging x

autumncountryleaves · 29/11/2020 10:20

Thanks for this - ordered for next year!

runningpink · 29/11/2020 10:40

@PinkDaydreams the kids o look after have little inflatable trays for using with the kinetic sand. Like tiny paddling pools which helps to contain it

runningpink · 29/11/2020 10:40

Are there any Argos codes going spare please?

CarrieMoonbeams · 29/11/2020 10:43

@welshgirl666, thanks for that, I'm going to go for them because I like the thought of the wee cracker packaging (I'm young at heart, ancient everywhere else!!).

Again they're a darker chocolate than I would prefer - I wish more places would make milk chocolate versions but with the vegan mallows - but I'm going to give them a go. Thanks again.

@CoffeeAndEnnui, you might be interested in these too? Or we can do a taste comparison if you go for the others.

DillieDoily · 29/11/2020 10:44

Has anyone seen a bargain school uniform suitable for an Our Generation 18" doll?

Still on my list are a fleecy, hooded boys onesie in age 11 (preferably Harry Potter) , Polly Pocket pineapple set, and a random history/non fiction book for my very hard to buy for DF who loves historical non fiction, especially Roman or Scottish history

My husband did the same thing - payment is still pending but it’s meant to be getting delivered this afternoon. I’ll let you know if it turns up!

Nip + Fab have buy one, get one free on their site today. No code needed. Does anyone use these and can recommend a certain product? I’m looking for myself. Or are they more of a teen thing? They had lots of nice sounding serums, masks, moisturisers etc.

Puffalicious · 29/11/2020 11:05

Notlongnow1 thanks for the Kinetic sand link. I'm buying it for my niece- the box sealed the deal!

I use Nip & Fab glycolic fix daily pads and they are excellent. But do your research about what products you need before you buy as stuff is suitable for different skin types. The glycolic pads are good for exfoliation and leave my skin really smooth, but they might be quite harsh for sensitive skin.
TheLastStarfighter · 29/11/2020 11:19

Lego Harry Potter Astronomy Tower is down to £68 on Zavvi and a further 12% cashback on TopCashback effectively takes it down to £60.

I know a few people were looking for it, and it’s going for silly money at some places.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 29/11/2020 11:27

@Sunshineskies I've used the Nip Fab dragons blood serum before and really liked it. but you can often get it for about £10 or £12 on amazon, which I think is quite a bit cheaper than the Nip Fab site

PinkDaydreams · 29/11/2020 11:29

I got this from Argos. Seems like a good deal considering the bag of sand alone is £13.

@CompleteBarstool funnily enough, Oodie do do Oodie joggers for £19 which I considered buying last night but decided wearing them with an oodie would be like being in a sauna.

Iggi999 · 29/11/2020 11:42

@ClaraLane @Justyou I'm really confused now because when I look for xboxes on the Microsoft site it has a link saying "check availability" and then it takes you to a list of other retailers (like Smyths) it doesn't look like you can buy from them directly? Or maybe it just does that when they are out of stock. Who knows?

I’m not too sure but just asked dh and he says it’s because he went directly on an Xbox (using dd’s) and bought it on there maybe?

Justyou · 29/11/2020 11:52

ClaraLane When did your dh manage to buy his?

Dreamingofwalden · 29/11/2020 12:01

Aggghhhh!!!!

Just opened the Christmas Tree Train box which I purchased from Cox & Cox on the 15th September and it’s missing a piece of track. Gah!! I made the mistake of opening it with my four year old so have now spent the last hour consoling him. Have looked on Cox & Cox and they seem to be sold old so I’m not holding out much hope of getting a replacement one. Angry

I’ve emailed their customer services and tried phoning so we’ll see what happens.

If you have one stashed away open it and check the pieces! I think I’ll have to buy a replacement from elsewhere.

Not such a bargain anymore. ]Hmm

scrappydappydoo · 29/11/2020 12:05

Help - I’m a nightmare to buy for and I’m being harassed for a Christmas list but I can’t think there is anything I want. Person harassing doesn’t want to give a gift card as it’s not a ‘proper’ present Hmm. Probably a good idea though as I tend to spend it on someone else. Just had a birthday so swamped in the soap and bubble bath I like. Not into music, don’t wear scarves, jewellery or make-up, don’t use candles, no books I want (have a kindle). Don’t have time or inclination for ‘experiences’ particularly loathe spa days. Not a particular foodie and I don’t have any hobbies. I have suggested one of those charity ‘send a cow’ type of things and that has been firmly rejected because it’s not for me (well yes that’s the point). TBH I’m barely keeping my head above water with work and family and sorting everyone else out - I don’t have time for this crap.please help me with some ideas..

Birdladybird · 29/11/2020 12:20

@scrappydappydoo new towels, lamp, lovely bedding. Something for your house you wouldn’t normally buy yourself?

Notlongnow1 · 29/11/2020 12:22

@scrappydappydoo you want a Klean Kanteen in your favourite colour.
