New thread here. I'm pretty sure this one breaks all previous records!

Morning.

Still no results so looking like the dr still won't she her today again.

I did GCSE home ec. It was all about consumer laws and food storage. I remember we had to make a nutritious 3 course menu for a family of 4 on a budget.

WreckTangled · 22/12/2020 08:11

I did food tech (which was what they called home economics I think). Didn't learn anything.

CrazyBaubles · 22/12/2020 08:16

Morning!

What's left to do on the advent cross stitch Fluffy? It's very pretty.
I'm done for Christmas except for one present that may or may not get delivered on time. My auntie is stopping on her way home from work today to pick up presents for her and my cousin then the only gifts left are for parents and sister who I'll see Christmas Day.
Enjoy your food collection day - make sure you sample some before you get home Xmas Grin

Stockings I'm not sure DH would still be walking if he woke me at 3am and suggested going shopping!

Wreck I'm working today and tomorrow and have worked Christmas Eve most years that we're home for Christmas. Hopefully it'll go fast for you.

Neros it's crazy that the dr won't see your DD without a negative test! Hopefully the results arrive some time this morning.
Here I think they're doing phone appointments at least.

I've got a pretty nice day today. Admin day at work then I'm going to move the ceramic Christmas tree & snowman lights from my office and put them downstairs.
It's my wedding anniversary so it'll be a chilled out evening and we're having a steak tea and cake for dessert which I'm looking forward to 😋

NerosFiddle · 22/12/2020 09:02

Results are in and she's negative so off to sit on hold for half an hour

ConstantlyCooking · 22/12/2020 09:12

Morning all!
Happy anniversary Crazy
My big Sainsbury's order arrived last night and I have my small order to collect tomorrow. I just need to get the fresh food now. I can't twitch because we are in tier 4 and most of the last order dates for delivery have gone.
I hope your DD feels better soon Nero.
We learned various embroidery stitches in infants school (age up to 8) and I still have the needle case I made! Then we had to make pointless items of clothing in cheap fabrics - smocks with embroidered yokes and badly fitting skirts! I thought I hated seeing until I was an adult and have made lots of costumes for DC and other (simple) projects. I even upgraded my old singer machine to an electric one from the Lidl aisle of wonder a few years ago!

NerosFiddle · 22/12/2020 09:30

Happy anniversary crazy

Constant anything nice in the Sainsbury's order? I think I've bought all of their party food.

ConstantlyCooking · 22/12/2020 09:38

Some of their buffet snacks (only 2 packs but each serves 20) plus I am now off to M&S to but some of theirs. I missed the food order dates because I was waiting to see what would happen. We have planned 3 separate buffet style meals for the 3 of us over Christmas plus we can freeze some if we have too many - I may need the special Christmas fridge freezer. We seem to have a lot of food for three but i want spare stuff for a Christmas meal with DS and family at some point!

MarshmallowManiac · 22/12/2020 09:43

Morning everyone. Bit of a mix here, rain & sun but lovely rainbows. DH went to a large fruit & veg shop this morning, got quite a bit and two large sacks of potatoes. At least we will have pots if it all goes to pot! Grin Just have the Christmas special of Gavin & Stacey to watch, enjoyed it though.

Hope the test is negative Neros

Enjoy the cheese shopping Fluffy do they have samples as you're shopping? Love the mice & advent calendar. I'm paid early too but not till tomorrow. Sad

A teacher at my school promised me that she would teach me how to crochet next year Woolly, looking forward to it. Smile

MarshmallowManiac · 22/12/2020 09:54

Just saw Neros glad to hear that your DD is negative. Smile

Happy Anniversary Crazy

Oh Constantly love M&S party food. Grin

BiddyPop · 22/12/2020 09:57

Morning, crisp bright and dry here (really appreciating the new boiler - house is toastier than usual! Despite the cold outside). Woke early so went to M&S locally at 7:30, got a nice turkey (and another €150 of "bits" - oops, should have had breakfast before I went 😳). But looks like we're going back to level 5 straight after Christmas so they'll be used.

Just waiting to go into physio, getting a couple of roses on my way home to do flower arranging tomorrow, then a full day's work. Dd has whole school assembly on zoom so will be finished mid morning. She and I made cookie dough last night, we're rolling/ cutting and baking tonight and will decorate tomorrow. DH continues his "week off" by having always been in the office when I left...😂

Catch up later !

ConstantlyCooking · 22/12/2020 10:17

I an with you re M&S Biddy - I have a £5 off a £50 spend voucher but ...

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 22/12/2020 11:35

I didn't get much for my money in M&S either! Hopefully it's nice and worth it!

Crazy, no samples today as you wait outside to collect these days. Bumped into my neighbour outside the shop (once my glasses had unsteamed and I clicked it was him!).

It's really cold out here today. But dry for a change!

I'm glad your DD's test was negative, Neros. How's her temp now?

MarshmallowManiac · 22/12/2020 11:43

Just reminded me Constantly have a few £ on a M&S voucher, maybe get DD or DH to get some nice ice cream for Christmas. Smile

Sorry to hear you didn't get any samples Fluffy

BiddyPop · 22/12/2020 13:36

Well, it's official, we're back to level 5, intercounty travel not allowed to 6th Jan anymore but stopping after 26th Dec, all hospitality etc to close at 3pm on 24th, …..it's upsetting but better for everyone as numbers rising so rapidly here.

A DAunt was on the phone over an hour ago before it had even officially been announced (well leaked from Cabinet but Taoiseach announced it half an hour ago), while I was working, to know if we had changed our plans or would we still visit my DPs - and got a bit snotty with me that I didn't already know - DH and I talked a tiny bit at the end of Taoiseach's statement, but we won't do it properly until over a meal (probably dinner as we'll both grab lunch to get finished) - I dropped off presents (from myself and DSiblings and DPs) to her last night but she hadn't finished shopping or assembling the large hamper to go to my DPs....and yet it's somehow my fault ?!

Ugh, going to make a hot cup of tea, chat to DD for a while and then get stuck in again with work.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 22/12/2020 14:00

Oh, I forgot to answer you, Crazy. It's the border left to do. If you can see the white leaf at the bottom, they go all round with red berries. I'm going to do some now!

ConstantlyCookingMincePies · 22/12/2020 14:40

Level 5 sounds tough Biddy - sending sympathy from Tier 4.
Just popped back to show off my Christmas name change.

MarshmallowManiac · 22/12/2020 15:18

Love your name change ConstantlyCookingMincePies Smile

I bet level 5 is not too nice Biddy, sending love from tier 4. Xmas Smile

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 22/12/2020 20:32

Happy Anniversary Crazy and MrCrazy 🥂🍾

BiddyPop · 22/12/2020 21:09

Thanks all, feeling mellow after an interesting 90 minutes self-isolating earlier (apparently DD's sore ear is now a vivid symptom - according to Dr receptionist- Dr was far more realistic TG! And said come straight down for her to check). So once we got home the wine bottle was opened...only 1 day of work left

WreckTangled · 22/12/2020 21:14

Dd has a physio appt in the morning at 8:30 🥱 will have to leave really early. Will also go home via McDonald's Grin

Biddy sorry things are tough your way. I reckon we will all be in full lockdown come January not that it effects us much I have to say. Missing my friends though.

ConstantlyCookingMincePies · 23/12/2020 04:42

Thread insomnia has struck!
I hope your DD's ear improves biddy- ear ache is miserable!

IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE EVE!
Just a few bits left to buy which were out of stock yesterday and then a day of (enjoyable) Christmas prep. Xmas Grin

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 23/12/2020 05:56

Morning. I've managed a lie-in (it is compared to raiding Tesco at 3am).😴
Constantly are you getting excited??? Xmas Grin🎄⛄
Nero and Biddy I hope you DDs are feeling better today Bear
I might have been doing too much cross stitch, my eyes ache and I think I really need varifocals (stronger distance and weaker close-up) or an eyeball transplant.👀

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 23/12/2020 06:45

Morning all and happy Christmas Eve Eve. Sorry I haven't been around!

Had an occ health appointment yesterday and she has recommended being signed off for a month. I plan to hand in my official resignation at that point as DH has a new job but his notice period is 2 months so it makes financial sense for me to wait for 2 months.

Sainsburys shop arrived yesterday so fridge is lovely and full. As Wales has the highest rate in Europe according to DH we are hunkering down and only going for our daily walk. Apart from that I don't intend to leave the house until the New Year!

Hope everyone is OK and ready for Christmas? Sorry to those whose plans have been ruined by Covid Flowers

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 23/12/2020 07:31

Morning!

It's DH's birthday today so I've said I'll make him a carrot cake birthday cake. The kids will assist!

It's set to chuck it down all day, so miserable weather!

Stockings, I have the same issue with my eyes. It's to do with the lens hardening apparently. My optician said to just keep taking my glasses off for now as it's not bad enough for varifocals. While people with normal vision go long sighted with age, short sighted people's vision heads back to being normal! My prescription has actually improved a teeny bit due to this. I find it annoying as my eyes do struggle to switch between close and distance somewhat. The joy of aging!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 23/12/2020 07:32

Most, that sounds very sensible. At least OH took it seriously. Is that a month from when schools go back or from now?
