Jeff Xmas Grin

We started watching "The Loss Adjuster" ( I thought it would be a bit like "Love Actually" - don't judge ) but half an hour in, DD, DH and I were thinking this is unmitigating shite and watched 'Lost Christmas' (Eddie Izzard film ) which is our Christmas Tradition.
You can keep your Home Alone and Die Hard .....we have Lost Christmas Xmas Grin
And for the first time ever I managed not to bawl at the end with the two firemen .

We ordered the cats' present for DS ( guitar strap) , DD has a bottle of Stella ( McCartney not Artois ) . They need to be wrapped badly with lots of tape and fur . To look like the lazy litle scroundrals did it .

Donation to CPL from The Cats . There was a photo on the HomePage of a tiny black kitten , blue eyed ( so very young) - it's what our two would've looked like when they were rescued ...... weeps.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 21/12/2020 05:19

Been to Tesco at 3am, seeing as they're the only ones to open 24hrs Xmas Grin only 2 other shoppers in there.
My eyelids are feeling heavy now...I may nod off this afternoon...If I make it that far 😴

WreckTangled · 21/12/2020 06:27

I'm up. Could have thrown the cat out the window. Every. Fucking. Morning. Why???

Just drinking my coffee and I'm off to M&S and Tesco. 20 miles away. 😴

WreckTangled · 21/12/2020 07:24

Fluffy I got them!! Have just come out of M&S. was a hairy drive here dark, heavy rain, wind, floods. Plus my eyes still feel asleep.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 21/12/2020 08:41

Wooo!

We are united in our chicken doughnut success then! I also got the cheese in blankets, mini chip shop sausages and some fish cakes. Plus another bottle of the Buck's Fizz!

Sainsbury's and M&S done. Just need to collect my pre-ordered stuff tomorrow now. At least I won't need to go to M&S then.

NerosFiddle · 21/12/2020 09:08

Morning.

Up all night again with dd. She has another 40 degree temp. We've another test booked for 10am. I'm really sick of this now. A dr won't see a sick child unless they have a negative test.

ConstantlyCooking · 21/12/2020 09:18

Good morning all. DD and i have re-meal planned and i have a Sainsbury's order coming later (with substituions that I should be able to buy in rl or which aren't important).
I need to go to waitrose and M&S to pick up some extra bits and then hopefully food shopping is done! I was too late to order because I wasn't sure of plans and then lots of stuff had sold out online. I did get some M&S Christmas gin tho'.
Need to wrap family presents - we decided not to send them to DS and family and have a belated get-together later in the year.
Have ordered an extra couple of board games for us on click and collect. I agree with your DH stockings - there is very little good stuff on over Christmas - I imagine there just hasn't been the time to make it. We will probably subscribe to Now for a month.
Christmas film watching has begun with: Princess Switch, Bad Moms' Christmas and Holidate so far. We save love actually and A Christmas Carol until the end. I will look for Lost Christmas 70 - DH and I really like Eddie izzard. I also love your attention to detail with the gifts from cats. My parents used to send separate Christmas and birthday cards from their dogs Xmas Grin
Fluffy - I have a lovely image of a family sitting together sewing - very Little Women. One school I taught at allowed children to do cross stitch whilst listening to stories on Fridays.

ConstantlyCooking · 21/12/2020 09:19

Will we make it to thread 14 before Christmas ??

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 21/12/2020 09:29

Constantly We did cross stitch at school when I was little. I remember helping a boy to design and sew a red tractor - we were at most 7 Smile
Eddie Izzard was in the remake of "Whisky Galore" - have a look on BBC iplayer, it was on last week. We enjoyed it.
Nero Poor lamb, I hope she starts to feel a bit better this morning Bear
Wreck & Fluffy well done on the shopping!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 21/12/2020 09:42

I used to love Eddie Izzard. Sadly he's not funny these days!

BiddyPop · 21/12/2020 10:05

Morning. I'm sitting under a blanket with a hot water bottle trying to work. Internet gone, doors open downstairs as plumbers working, but should have new boiler by lunchtime. Hairdresser giving me a cancellation slot at 12 - yay!! Dd bored as free class followed by double pe which means a quiet homeschool morning....no internet, she's lost!!

4 DSiblings managed to meet yesterday (me, 3 others, along with 1 OH and 1 DC) - outdoors in a forest for a SD walk and picnic, then logistics of moving presents between cars....so I got rid of everything for the southern end of the country (all those siblings, DPs - and the ILs as well), and received things from south and halfway up the country for ourselves and the extended family near us - so I will be doing doorstep deliveries later this week to 4 or 5 other households (definitely 1 delivery will cover 2 households, but a 2nd might or might not).

Miserable drizzly morning here, and no wind so the clouds are just sitting there, dripping at us. Have to go out to get a turkey tomorrow or Wednesday, and my main shop getting delivered tomorrow. But as numbers increasing here, that's the only shopping we're doing (or anything else other than walks of just our family). Well, my doorstep drops but I can SD for those.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 21/12/2020 10:07

Neros, your poor DD. The need for a negative test for what could be a very poorly child potentially is ridiculous.

CrazyBaubles · 21/12/2020 10:12

Morning. Been a slow start here, not sure why but I really struggled to get myself going today.
Have just waved DH off - he's labouring for my dad today as he (dad) has pulled his back out. The house they're working in is empty so it's just the 2 of them and they're both careful. DH will be lifting and moving stuff, dad will be directing him. It's nice to have the house to myself for a few hours!

Neros I'm not surprised you're fed up. Poor dd, I hope she feels better soon.

Fluffy I remember being bought a Forever Friends cross stitch kit as a kid but no one I knew did it so no one tried to help me. I messed it up I think.
In school we learned to use a sewing machine, and sew embellishments like sequins and beads on and that was it. Nothing even slightly practice - I remember my nan being so annoyed when I told her that she taught me to darn, hem, sew buttons and do a few basic stitches.

Constantly I think the Christmas spirit has got DH - he put the Grinch on while fannying online on Sat and Home Alone yesterday morning while we were having a lazy lie in. My aim is to fit in Elf and Home Alone 2 with him before Christmas, and as we can't go anywhere, it shouldn't be too hard.

Listening to Heart Christmas while I work today Xmas Smile

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 21/12/2020 10:17

My daughter wants to watch Elf on Christmas Eve Crazy.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 21/12/2020 10:21

Yay, Crazy! Result on getting rid of DH! Xmas Grin

We did cross stitch at Brownies. Just the once, I think though I wasn't there long as i detested it. Unless that was at school? It was a mat which mum still uses, potentially, to put vases on.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 21/12/2020 14:22

I'm currently in the car park of the blood donation place waiting for my slot. I initially booked 13.50 and DH 13.55, but I got cancelled - again - but managed to book for 14.50. He's now back in the car and we've now got to wait for my appointment. Sigh.

I did do my Next sale shopping though, and got everything on my list, so that's something!

MarshmallowManiac · 21/12/2020 14:35

Afternoon everyone. DC used to do knitting at school growing up, and DD did some more at Brownies. DM taught me but don't remember learning it at school. Bit blustery here, thinking of getting DH to head to Lidl & Sainsburys after work back to shielding Sad Sad

Oh no Neros your poor DD, it is horrible isn't it. Sad Hope she starts to feel better really soon.

We watched Elf yesterday Why love it, it's so funny.

Welcome Jeff Xmas Grin

Wreck glad to hear you got through the many plagues of Egypt Grin

Ooh cheese in blankets sounds yummy Fluffy

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/12/2020 20:00

Neros your poor DD. I hope she feels better soon.

We did embroidery samplers at primary school. I've pretty much forgotten all the stitches apart from cross stitch. My Reception class teacher taught me to crochet and I've been crocheting ever since (48ish years 😱)

CrazyBaubles · 21/12/2020 22:40

I wish we learned cross stitch, useful sewing, crochet and knitting in school.
Our Home Ec lessons were cooking (flapjacks and cheesecake is all I remember), dyeing fabric, painting on it then embellishing with beads (useful Hmm) and we used the sewing machine once.

We did a delivery run when I finished work, dropping off presents and cards to people who live too close to post to and who likely will be alone for Christmas. Did a lot of doorstep chats in the rain so that took a while.
My friends daughter opened her presents off me and gave me some gifts she'd picked herself - some homemade baubles which are sweet and have been put straight in the tree and a small blow up Santa. I think my friend was a bit embarrassed but I think it's sweet - maybe we should set him up with Jeff? 😂

Have done a bit of cross stitching and now led in bed watching West Wing. Fingers crossed for some decent sleep 😴

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 21/12/2020 23:48

I needed my big hoop, so had to finish the mice tonight (it was just the back stitch). The advent calendar is coming on. It'll be a close call to get it done though!

We did Textiles at school, Crazy. I'm pretty sure it was next to useless, however. As was Home Ec.!

Are you finished for Christmas now?

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 22/12/2020 05:27

3 🎄⛄
Been shopping again. DH woke me at 3 the bastard so we went to tesco for bread Hmm and some veggies + bits n bobs.
Home Ec lessons were hit n miss - I remember being forced to buttercream a warm sandwich cake even though I argued that it would melt it did and the teacher threatened me with detention if I didn't Hmm We used a sewing machine once (I didn't like the noise, my mums was a wind up cast iron singer) and did some dyeing of calico then cut it into strips and made a basket weave cushion cover with different beads etc. It sounds nicer than it looked Xmas Confused Xmas Grin

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 22/12/2020 06:33

Morning!

I have to get up now. It's pre-order collection day! Booths at 7.30 and Sainsbury's at 9.00. With a Farmfoods visit in the middle then the cheese shop last. I'll probably take the shopping home and walk there as I imagine the village will be rammed today!

Early pay day today too. Whoop!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 22/12/2020 06:38

Don't spend it all on cheese! Xmas Grin 🐭🧀

WreckTangled · 22/12/2020 07:11

Morning. I'm working today, just until 1:30. Also working Xmas eve, feeling a bit sad about that one but it's all money so never mind. Plus the dc would just be arguing all day anyway I'm sure.

Neros hope the test is negative.

I just accidentally ended up reading posts on a 'Leave' fb page. I can't believe people think like that they're so awful. And stupid. It's put me in a bad mood.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 22/12/2020 07:32

Apparently people were calling for us to start a war against France in the DM comments section yesterday! Idiots.

Boots, I've paid for one lot of cheese already, so no worries on that front!
