Countdown to Christmas 2020 (thread 13): the one with(out) the M&S vanishing gin!

New thread here. I'm pretty sure this one breaks all previous records!

We had a just-long enough spell of dry / wind to get the washing almost-dry. It's now on an airer finishing off by the radiator. I came downstairs after wrapping to see it had gone really ominous-looking, so I shouted up to DH who'd just seen the same, and we dashed out to rescue it as the rain started. Tipping it down now!

I haven't bought tubs of chocolate this year I'm still sulking about no JL QS refills as they get eaten too fast and it's too much milk chocolate for the kids.

I will try M&S on Tuesday for their cheese in blankets and chicken doughnuts.

What time is BoZo speaking today? Marshmallow, how near the M20 are you? It's bonkers!

4pm apparently. Will be late no doubt.

I can go to M&S Monday or weds so hopefully they'll have them one of those days.

Oh well Christmas with MIL is out now, feeling really sad, know it's needed but still sad.

You can't see your eldest DD either, can you? At least she has her partner for company.

Support bubbles are still allowed though, I think, so your MiL will be OK if you're bubbled with her.

She does Fluffy at least that is great. We've spoken to her and she agreed that when this is finished we will have another Christmas. [santa]

Oh my! We've just had the Salvation Army Band playing carols on the corner of the next street. Amazing and a little bit heartrending as this time last year they played at a street Christmas party

Marshmallow how sad for you. Great idea to have a family get together when you are out the other side of this - we are planning something similar.

Oh love the Salvation Army bands especially at Christmas Woolly we are all looking forward to it.

Morning!

I'm meant to be going to the allotment today but my glands and ears were really painful last night, so I might stay at home instead. I have cross stitch I can do and I need to pot my overwintering broad beans on as they're going great guns! I might pop some peas in too if I have some early onward in the stash.

Also, I need to jet wash, though I can't do that with washing hanging out for obvious reasons! 😂 Hopefully the washing will fit on the main line and not need the side return overflow.

Morning - Tier 4 here , not a surprise TBH , we've had a massive rise and the new strain virus . I think there will still be a lot of mixing over Christmas and we'll be in another Lockdown come January .

My cake is marzipanned and iced - not decorated yet , I'll wait till the icing is dry
Made some pastry for mince pies chilling in the fridge
Chocolate crispy cakes with red/green M&Ms for DS ( he doesn't do Christmas cakes or pies , too New Fangled for him !)

After all the cleaning indoors I need to think about an overhaul for The Old Carcass so I'm going to raid through the bathroom and see what's there .

We saw Santa yesterday. There was a train and Santa in a sleigh. Everything was sanitised and sd maintained throughout. Dc had the best time.

I don't know what Christmas will be like for us because Stormont couldn't make a decision to save their life. It was supposed to be us, dparents and my db over from England. Don't think my dbro will come now and with Dh job I don't know if we can see my parents.

We're still tier 2 thankfully. Not that is makes any difference to us as we'd already decided not to see anyone.

Work today. Ds' football game has been called off which is a shame.

It's colder than I thought it was today and I'm regretting my decision to wear a skirt

It's definitely chilly out there (handy for our outside fridge!). We had a non-forecast shower, so the white wash got a bit damp. It's sunny and slightly breezy now though, so it and the bedding / swimming towel wash should get partially-dry if nothing else.

My amazon not prime order (some DVDs) arrived in 24hrs, as did my cross stitch order. Christmas cards/letters seem to arrive in bulk once a week.🤷🏻‍♀️ Very hit n miss at the mo.
Day 2 of the Christmas Radio Times and DH has announced there's "nothing to watch" - God knows what he'd be like in the 80s with just 4 channels.

Our washing is drowned. Forecast = less than 5% chance of rain. Reality = tipping down almost constantly!

I've jet washed the front path and potted my broad beans on. The pea seeds are at the allotment, so I didn't sow any. Some of the beans had stupidly long roots already. It really surprised me!

I need to dust and sort some stuff, once I'm out of the bath, then I'll do cross stitch (away from the kids as they'll want to do theirs which means mine won't get done!).

It's been a busy day here - dog walk, roast dinner, final present check, changed bedding, load of laundry, full, pull everything out even the fridge and microwave clean of the kitchen, dining room, living room and bathroom, sorted through booze cabinet, put up an extra set of Christmas lights, FaceTimed DSis and kids and now having a bath with a Christmas bath bomb before getting back to my cross stitch.

I didn't realise your dc did cross stitch Fluffy?

Stockings I think it's easier to choose if your choices are severely limited!

Wreck I'm a bit concerned you are frozen somewhere! It's so cold here today, it's a real possibility in a skirt!

It's ok crazy I'm home and under a blanket! It is a long skirt and fairly layered. It's freezing today though.

At least one of the family has head lice so we're in for a fun Monday...

I was intending to ice my Christmas cake ,make mince pies etc but due to moving into tier 2 I was needed for childcare.

Thanks for the birthday wishes I had a lovely day all things considered plus two birthday cakes which is always a good thing. My daughter brought me an inflatable giraffe which has been named Jeff.
