Is anyone else out there watching all the shit Christmas films on the telly at the moment?

I found a personal highlight yesterday in My Christmas Inn, notable for its extremely clunky product placement for Balsam Hill.

And obviously anything starring Melissa Joan Hart or Danica Mckellar is going to be fabulous.

Please tell me it's not just me!

@LooneyLovefood

I'm so excited about that one! I'm saving it for the weekend!

I rewatched the "A Christmas Prince" trilogy on Netflix over the last couple of days, loved it!

CurbsideProphet · 25/11/2020 22:11

Here my people 🙂
I look forward to reading through for recommendations!
I don't have Christmas 24 anymore (thanks BT 😩) so I'm reliant on channel 5 for my Hallmark fix.

The George C Scott version of A Christmas Carol. It absolutely terrifies me as a child and still makes me nervous now aged 39. 😱

I also like Raymond Briggs Father Christmas and the animated version of the The Grinch. I don't like the Jim Carey one.

Love this! All ( some) of the Netflix Christmas films are all set in the same Crappy Christmas Universe. A bit like Marvel with more tinsel

pinkksugarmouse · 25/11/2020 23:23

Oh and Santa Claus the Movie.

SingingWaffleDoggy · 25/11/2020 23:29

Christmas in Conway was on C5 today, lovely but my eyes still haven’t recovered from the tears Sad

Sunbird24 · 25/11/2020 23:30

I’m off work sick at the moment so have been watching the Christmas films on C5. It’s my one early concession to a covid Christmas!

Wtfdidwedo · 25/11/2020 23:32

Highly highly recommend Dolly's Netflix offering, incredible!

Chrysanthemum5 · 26/11/2020 09:28

@LooneyLovefood I also started Santa in training. It was the weirdest film I've seen in a long time. Actually pretty unpleasant (especially for a children's film I think it would give them nightmares). I think it was aiming for an edgy different vibe but it really didn't work - not helped by the awful acting.

And Julio Inglesias Jr has really not aged well

Glad I'm not the only who found it odd! I can persevere through some terrible films but that was the worst I've seen, I'm so glad I gave up on it!

Artesia · 26/11/2020 10:17

I haven't seen anyone mention the one where Charlotte from Sex in the City goes on safari and ends up working at an elephant sanctuary run by Rob Lowe, and saving it from closure just in time for Xmas. An odd juxtaposition of a sunny Xmas film, but certainly not the worst one I've seen!

ImAllOut · 26/11/2020 12:58

I have not seen that one Artesia but it sounds great! Charlotte is also in that one with Will from Will and Grace, something about an angel and singing. I can't see those two as anything other than Charlotte and Will though, it's so oddm

cravingthelook · 26/11/2020 14:22

Currently watching Holly & Ivy.... it's a tear jerker

LooneyLovefood · 26/11/2020 14:34

Watching My Christmas Inn - it's ok, not one of the better ones I've seen but still watchable. Though I am loving the Tia, Ray and Lisa reunion from Sister, Sister!

Sunbird24 · 26/11/2020 14:40

Anyone watching A Date by Christmas Eve on C5?

Artesia · 26/11/2020 20:25

@ImAllOut - I looked it up, it’s called Holiday in the Wild, available on Netflix!

CurbsideProphet · 27/11/2020 19:18

@Artesia I watched Holiday In The Wild last year and really enjoyed it 🙂

Johnny1963 · 29/11/2020 21:46

@Pansypath

I love Last Holiday starring Queen Latifah
Love this film so much. Queen Latifah, LL Cool J and Alicia Witt. Like a Christmas blanket of comforting cheese.

Warming up for Christmas film fest with Operation Christmas Drop on Netflix. Was actually ok and the scenery was amazing - lots of tropical beaches. Am ready to plunge head first into Christmas movie land now tho. Bring on the eggnog and Christmas villages...

Talisin · 29/11/2020 22:12

Saw the Dolly Parton/Christine Baranski one this afternoon - didn’t realise it was a full-on musical! Great fun.

teddybearsbear · 30/11/2020 13:27

I'm watching a very British Christmas it's so cheesy but I love that it's actually set in the uk and in particular knaresborough which looks beautiful

I am in Ireland so we dont have channel 5, didnt realise you're all lucky enough to get a daily dose of crappy Christmas movies.

Our xmas fm radio hasnt even started yet![/quote]
There are two Christmas movies each day :)

Chottie · 30/11/2020 14:17

Who else loves watching the back ground scenery?

There is always tasteful snow, except on the roads which are completely clear.
Everyone has perfect complexions and teeth and all the young women have flicky cheerleader Farah Fawcett hair styles.
Everyone's home is decorated to the 'nth degree with swags down the stairs and over the mantelpiece, huge wreaths on the doors.
All Christmas lights are permanently twinkling.
Someone is always wearing a tartan scarf (if it is a woman, her red lipstick matches in perfectly).

I watched this yesterday, loved it!
CurbsideProphet · 30/11/2020 17:21

@Chottie I love those films set in small towns where everyone has a lovely house decorated like a grotto, there's snow, beautiful scenery and a huge tree in the town square 😀

I love those small town settings too. It's pure escapism just watching these films...... :)
