Is anyone else out there watching all the shit Christmas films on the telly at the moment?

I found a personal highlight yesterday in My Christmas Inn, notable for its extremely clunky product placement for Balsam Hill.

And obviously anything starring Melissa Joan Hart or Danica Mckellar is going to be fabulous.

Please tell me it's not just me!

Watching channel 5 plus one now

Youngatheart00 · 14/11/2020 18:13

Writing all of these down!!!

I watched “Snowmageddon” a few years back. So bad it was brilliant! The premise is a snow globe that when shaken causes an actual town to shake - cue disaster. The action scenes are ridiculously low budget but the fact I remember it after 5 years meant it’s worthy of a mention!

mum2jakie · 14/11/2020 18:34

@Barton10 Christmas in Evergreen is on TV on Monday at 11am. I've taped it in! Just working my way through the thread ☺️

Molehillfromamountain · 14/11/2020 18:38

I've got a good list going after reading this thread. I let DH pick yesterday, he went for One Magic Christmas. A 1985 Disney classic apparently Confused thought it was dreadful!

Elderflower14 · 14/11/2020 18:45

I watched Christmas At The Palace last week on Prime and loved it.
My other favourite is Catch A Christmas Star..
Rachel Shenton has made one in which she is an American Opera Singer.. Can't remember what it's called but I want to see it.

Elderflower14 · 14/11/2020 18:48

The other one I adore is One Magical Night starring Julie Andrews and James Garner.

TheCrow · 14/11/2020 20:53

Just let DD pick a film on netflix and she picked the Christmas Chronicles, felt a bit weird watching it without all the decorations being up but it was pretty good in a cheesy kids movie kind of way

Copperblack · 14/11/2020 21:08

We adore crappy Christmas movies - I even made a set of bingo cards and we all have a set, and get a quality street for every one we win- I even used a Christmas font when I made them!

My favourites are

Christmas Magic
All about Christmas Eve
Anything with Alicia Witt
Angels in the snow
Oh Christmas Tree
Window Wonderland

Copperblack · 14/11/2020 21:11

Glad to see so much love for Christmas Magic! The song is called fall’s angel and is on YouTube. We always play it in the car. So cheesy!!

If you have sky q just say ‘Christmas movies’ into the microphone and it lists EVERYTHING

Holothane · 14/11/2020 21:11

Not the same thing but Christmas call the midwife set comes out and grumpy old women at Christmas I must watch that at least every 2 days I love it and this year Ross kemps a Christmas carol.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/11/2020 21:54

In the Not In The Least Bit Crappy films league is "Lost Christmas" (Eddie Izzard film) we watch it every year .

Last year we watched "Last Christmas" ( Emma Thompson and Emilia Clarke ) which I reckon is worth a re watch

InTheCludgie · 15/11/2020 07:55

Someone upthread mentioned A Christmas Movie Christmas, I watched this last night and loved it. Has my vote so far for best Crappy Xmas film!

Just watched a perfect Christmas list on Netflix it's so bad and predictable it's great

Makedo · 15/11/2020 11:21

@oxyiz the wedding one- was the moral of the story that if you don't shout at your crush and stay gay instead of marrying a man that the Catholic Church will allow gay marriage and the dead baby of your wife won't need to come back as your guardian angell? Oh and that your lover and father won't die. (If that sounds homophobic it truly isnt- just a genuine summary of the plot. I think...I am so confused!).

Most bizarre film I have ever seen!

mum2jakie · 15/11/2020 13:22

Watching Marry Me at Christmas now. Love it 😊

DMCWelshcakes · 15/11/2020 14:58

I've not seen Kristin's Christmas Past or the other Judd Nelson film where he plays an elf pretending to be a school janitor this year yet.

There was one on this morning with the Fonz in but I had to go out & missed it.

I like "The Christmas Gift" starring John Denver. It doesn't get shown very often, but I've saved it on my tivo box to watch every year.

SteveHarringtonsHair · 15/11/2020 16:55

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams

There was one that I remember watching that was a bit more miserable than usual. I think a couple had money troubles. She was an aspiring photographer, he was doing up a vintage car. I think they nearly split up, then... Christmas morning and he comes back. He's sold the car to buy her a fancy lens, and she's sold her camera to buy him the the steering wheel he needs. It was very predictable, but I sobbed!
That’s “The Gift of the Magi” I quite liked it Blush

I love this one too. I had it saved to my Sky box but when we moved this year I lost it Sad
Chottie · 15/11/2020 17:17

@Coronacockup

I started watching on Sunday and I will only admit it here but I love the channel 5 Christmas films!!
Me too!

I have found my people - the cheesier the better :)

BrieAndChilli · 15/11/2020 18:38

I’m watching Hearts of Christmas - she’s just finished a late shift at the hospital - wearing scrubs, then she walks out of the hospital (to go home) in a fancy skirt and shirt combo, heals and make up and fancy hair do, to find the love interest waiting o whisk her to dinner!!
In real life she would still be in her scrubs or at least just in jeans and a jumper and trainers with scruffy hair and just wanting to go home to bed!!

teddybearsbear · 16/11/2020 14:30

Just watched Christmas made to order and am halfway through My Christmas Inn both predictably rubbish but great!

Talisin · 16/11/2020 17:15

Just started watching Snow Bride - one of my faves - on Christmas24. Just need some mulled wine or something now for the perfect cosiness level.

InTheCludgie · 16/11/2020 20:13

Indeed Talisin, looming forward to the Xmas decs going up in a couple of weeks as it'll be properly cosy then.
