Is anyone else out there watching all the shit Christmas films on the telly at the moment?

I found a personal highlight yesterday in My Christmas Inn, notable for its extremely clunky product placement for Balsam Hill.

And obviously anything starring Melissa Joan Hart or Danica Mckellar is going to be fabulous.

Please tell me it's not just me!

I've just found Noelle on Disney Plus, it's stars Anna Kendrick and I'm quite enjoying it. Not sure it will become an annually viewed classic but it's filling in an hour and a half here on a quiet day.

Currently watching A very Yorkshire Christmas. Nice to see one set in the UK.

Weird accent from the male lead though. Could they not find any male actors with Yorkshire accents? Especially since it's a British production.

I've just finished a series on Netflix called Home For Christmas, its Norwegian but dubbed into English. Worth a watch (once the kids are in bed, got sex and a lot of swearing in it)

Madbengalmum · 02/12/2020 19:53

Another, strangley addicted person!
I watched one with either Romy or Michelle in it, who had crashed car and lost her memory and falls for local widower. Turns out she was a wealthy tv chef.
Most recently jesse metcalf loses city trader job and helps out at Christmas tree stall, and falls in love with local single/ struggling mum.
Total cheese fests but great!

Love these films!
The Christmas Card is a favourite. Woman writes Christmas cards to the troops and a soldier with no roots visits her to say thank you. Sweet and romantic.

Pride, prejudice and Mistletoe and Christmas at Pemberly we’re both lovely with a little Pride and Prejudice twist.

Anything with Lacey Chabert in is going to be a wonderful Christmas film!

I watched Crown for Christmas (Amazon Prime) this afternoon. Her from The Wonder Years was in it. King of a fictional European country (near Luxembourg but they all have British accents!) needed a governess for his daughter. Enter a New York maid supporting her 2 siblings.

I loved The Princess Switch on Netflix so was excited for the sequel however I didn’t really like it. Bit disappointed.

Tried Noelle on Disney+ but it was a bit out there. Might be better on second viewing now I’m prepared for the level of crazy. Also the CGI was pretty poor for a Disney movie.

I can recommend Christmas Land on Netflix - high flying career girl (of course) inherits a Christmas themed village from her grandma, wants to sell it much to the ire of the staff at the village. Cheesy goodness and a hot male lead

purpleme12 · 05/12/2020 15:00

Watching A Very Yorkshire Christmas
So cheesy 😂

mogtheexcellent · 05/12/2020 15:03

Christmas made to order on entflix is pretty good. Her decorative tastes are questionable though Grin

Apparently season 2 of Home for christmas is coming on the 18th december. I would have preferred subtitles over dubbed but I found season 1 realy good.

InTheCludgie · 05/12/2020 16:52

mog I just discovered Home For Christmas a few days ago, looking forward to the new series too

PrivateSpidey · 08/12/2020 19:15

Ah I love these films!! Great thread and so many recommendations!

Please can someone talk to me about A Christmas Kiss? I just watched it last night (think it was on the Sony channel). It was like a festive version of Working Girl - it was great Xmas Grin

Stealing Christmas is my favourite though (I may have mentioned this on MN before) - with Tony Danza as a crook on the run, and he ends up hiding out in a small Christmas-type town called Evergreen. Lea Thompson and Betty White are in it as well.

Whiskyinajar · 08/12/2020 19:22

I have found my people...I love these films haha. Husband makes sick noises all the way through them. ...he has no soul 😁

mogtheexcellent · 08/12/2020 20:08

@PrivateSpidey

I love a christmas kiss but the male lead is really odd looking. My favourite is another christmas kiss which has been on sony channel a lot.

I watched a good one today wrapped up for christmas about a personal shopper. Both leads really good so saving the recording to watch again.

Also today I watched Christmas calendar on netflix. Loved it!

Still havent finished wrapping my presents as too busy watching films Grin

PrivateSpidey · 08/12/2020 22:17

mog he really reminded me of someone - not sure who. That happens with a lot of these films though!

The personal shopper one sounds good, will look out for that one.

Therealmrsclaus · 14/12/2020 12:24

I've just watched a very Yorkshire Christmas and thought the same mogtheexcellent can't understand why he had a London accent. Lovely scenery i'd like to visit knaresborough now though sweetheart Grin

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 14/12/2020 22:38

I've not read all the replies but a couple of years ago we watched one called " a dog named Christmas"
It was lovely but I cried my eyes out much to the amusement of my DC.

PrivateSpidey · 23/12/2020 08:53

I watched A Snowed Inn Christmas yesterday - it was great! I don't know if I've been watching too many of these films I have but I thought the acting/chemistry in this one was really good! There were some good/funny lines in it too.

Definitely one of the best ones IMHO.

mum2jakie · 20/09/2021 14:47

For anyone who loves awful Christmas movies - Christmas 24 starts again this Thursday!

I'm off work today and enjoying Mr Miracle which is so awful I can't stop watching it!! I think the teacher would be sacked for grooming his pupil in real life!

mum2jakie · 20/09/2021 14:53
