Crappy Christmas films! An appreciation thread.

Is anyone else out there watching all the shit Christmas films on the telly at the moment?

I found a personal highlight yesterday in My Christmas Inn, notable for its extremely clunky product placement for Balsam Hill.

And obviously anything starring Melissa Joan Hart or Danica Mckellar is going to be fabulous.

Please tell me it's not just me!

Absolutely love ‘crappy’ Christmas films. Can’t get enough of them.

A Christmas Visitor - its free with Amazon Prime but usually on the Hallmark Channel. The best crappy Christmas movie of them all - but only if you're prepared to spend an hour and a half sobbing as it's heartbreaking and uplifting in equal measures.

I love them. Last year I didn't allow myself to watch any until December, then was so busy I only saw a few.
I'm going for it this year, already watched loads! Again, can never remember the titles, have to watch to see if I've seen them before.

I watched Merry Kissmas this week. Possibly the worst Christmas film ever. Terrible English accent. Now watching Christmas Apprentice which isn’t bad so far...

I know.. they used to be on at 3:15pm but now they’re earlier this year. I don’t have kids, I just get up late Blush

Me! Total addict Grin I normally try to wait until december 1st, but not this year, all bets are off! Smile usually the Christmas 24 channel for me, but I do like a channel 5 Christmas film afternoon too! The cheesier and more predictable the better. I want tingly bell music, small town bakeries, a near disastrous misunderstanding, an interrupted christmas kiss and a happily ever after! I want it all! Grin

I have only watched Christmas 24 for the past 5 weeks (covid and compassionate leave).

My favourite game at the moment is spotting the references to Winter Storm Megan any time a flight is cancelled or there's heavy snowfall.

I literally spent 10 hours yesterday living in a Christmas fantasy land 🎄🎄🎄

I second a Christmas Visitor- makes me cry everytime Blush ooh and one I can’t remember the name of where a cop arrests a shoplifter and spoiler alert they fall in love. Oh and I’ll be home for Christmas too! So cheesy but so good

@Ginnymweasley

I love them. The crappier the better. There is a melissa joan heart one where her nutcracker comes to life. Its fabulously odd and yet brilliant. I've not watched the Christmas inn yet but maybe when its ds naptime haha.

Oh, does she fall in love with him?

I have a soft spot for A Smoky Mountain Christmas (featuring Dolly Parton rescuing orphans from a witch).

@RedRec

Absolutely love the Channel 5 Christmas films! Someone up thread mentioned Danica McKellar. Always good if she is in them - have seen her in two in the last week.
Interestingly, they are mostly shot in Canada, I think because of the reliable snow.

I just googled The Knight Before Christmas. Much of it was filmed in Ontario, but apparently in May and June. They should have timed it better.😁

I’ve found my tribe!

I adore these films and I’m so excited that I can start watching more of them during lockdown. I haven’t allowed myself to start yet but I’ve recorded plenty in anticipation.

A good one I watched a couple of years ago is A Very Merry Mix Up. A ridiculous storyline but I couldn’t help but love it.

I love them.all! I became addicted 5 years ago when my DS was born and I sat feeding him and watched them every afternoon. Schmultzy, sentimental, christmassy nonsense, I love them!

A Christmas Visitor doesn't have Mrs Miracle in it - but does star one of the main characters from Knots Landing - although he's a fair bit older now!

There was one that I remember watching that was a bit more miserable than usual. I think a couple had money troubles. She was an aspiring photographer, he was doing up a vintage car. I think they nearly split up, then... Christmas morning and he comes back. He's sold the car to buy her a fancy lens, and she's sold her camera to buy him the the steering wheel he needs. It was very predictable, but I sobbed!

A star for Christmas is truly abysmal. The female lead keeps biting her bottom lip and just looks deranged.

Another Christmas kiss is also fave of mine.

A heavenly christmas with kristen from sex in the city is on the 14th. Ch5 I think? I love that one too.

And dont forget on netflix the new dolly parton one is released on 22nd November.

I love these! Watched a weird one the other day though, Pottersville on Netflix, which came close to being a decent arty sort of film here and there and then veered off again - not quite crap and not quite good. Has anyone else seen it?

Was the slightly miserable film called 12 Days of Giving? It made me a tad uncomfortable, as the male lead (aka Lucky the Elf) was in a relationship, although the film made it clear she was a bad ‘un Grin and he met someone else.
