One thing I love at Christmas is hearing what very young children are asking for. Those little people who's imaginations know no boundaries.

Some of the most memorable I've heard are a real live hippopotamus like at the zoo, a guitar with a stick it took the parents a bit of effort to twig the meant a violin, a pink duck, and a red wheelbarrow.

What funny things have you heard of little kids asking for?

When she was three, DD asked for 'toy numbers'. Luckily, the magnetic numbers met her expectations.

This year's lists (now 9&7) include a pink hairdryer (glittery if possible), an orange sleeping bag... And a snake.

My DD once wrote ‘Santa please can I have everything including the things I already have’... Gave me a lot to go off Grin.

Ds once asked for a pot of Googly eyes to give to his sister...

AdventureCode · 09/11/2020 11:25

4yo ds once asked for a googey red brain that can be a lunch box but also a toy, i couldn't find what he was after and after loads of prying questions to see where he saw it. He told me its what his mind had made, he thought Santa could bring whatever he could think of 😄.

That's brilliant. And I'm sure many really young kids do think Santa can bring anything. Grin

Last year at nearly 3 the request was a Spiderman bike which caused confusion as he meant a bike for Spiderman. This year almost 4 the initial request was a red helicopter!

On ds's list is a friend for Joe Sprout..

MitMopse · 09/11/2020 11:39

An alicorn (winged unicorn). 'A real one, not a toy' was specified! We explained that Santa doesn't bring live animals Grin

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 09/11/2020 11:40

Waspits. After some sleuthing I found this was actually wotsits Grin

My 4 year old asked for a fork, but big. I don't know if she means a gardening fork...

Choice4567 · 09/11/2020 11:45

2 year old has asked for a real space rocket to go the moon...

sunshineandshowers21 · 09/11/2020 11:49

my 6 year old has asked for a baby brother. he’s one of four already so that was a resounding no! over the years he’s also asked for a cannon, one of those plant pot baby things from harry potter, and a penny farthing 😂 my eldest has much more realistic requests - if we were millionaires!

sunshineandshowers21 · 09/11/2020 11:50

mandrakes! that’s the one. i’ve just looked them up, and you can actually buy them now. shame it’s a few years too late!

Thegirlhasnoname · 09/11/2020 11:56

My just turned 2 year old hasn’t the foggiest what Christmas is yet so no funny requests from her

My friends 4 year old however has asked Santa to bring the milk in glass bottles

hemhem · 09/11/2020 12:01

My 6 year old has asked for a cuddly toy of her childminder. As she loves her so much and wants to see her all the time!! My 2 year old asked for "socks, really big ones"

VioletSunset · 09/11/2020 12:06

My 6 year old won't tell me what she wants off santa, because it will ruin the surprise Hmm let's just hope santa gets it right

Afolnerd · 09/11/2020 12:10

Ds nearly 4 has asked for a ceiling fan!
He is going to be disappointed unfortunately, can imagine the landlords response to that request.

What on earth makes a 4yo want a ceiling fan? Smile

I'm really glad I started this thread. Little kids really do ask for the most crazy things Grin

My 8yo has put "toy potato" on his list. Think he's trying to test if Santa is real!

JustFrustrated · 09/11/2020 12:25

My youngest asked for Green a couple of years ago.

Just green. Not overly helpful.

And Santa got it wrong because we were asked for Green again last year.

Fuck knows who/what green is.

Inmyownlittlecorner · 09/11/2020 12:29

DD, 4 at the time wanted Cilit Bang. When I asked her why, she said “Barry Scott says that bang & the dirt is gone” & that was her only explanation!

iklboogeymum · 09/11/2020 12:37

DS asked for 'Just about anything really'. Thanks, son. Very helpful.

LindaEllen · 09/11/2020 12:38

I always remember my younger brother asking for 'flumps'. He insisted he didn't want anything else, JUST flumps.

My dad was convinced he wanted flumps as in the sweets, as we had those growing up .. my mum was confused by this as he never seemed overly keen on them, so did some prying.

Turns out he meant eleflumps (elephants .... ) for his toy ark!

santashoeshine · 09/11/2020 12:42

My 6yo DS has asked for a litter pickerGrin He wants to save the environment Smile

ChanklyBore · 09/11/2020 12:49

A thermometer.
A pair of furry trousers.
A poisoned apple.
The antlers from a reindeer.
A picture frame.
A Nintendo Switch.
