One thing I love at Christmas is hearing what very young children are asking for. Those little people who's imaginations know no boundaries.

Some of the most memorable I've heard are a real live hippopotamus like at the zoo, a guitar with a stick it took the parents a bit of effort to twig the meant a violin, a pink duck, and a red wheelbarrow.

What funny things have you heard of little kids asking for?

@Christmasbiscuit
Does he mean a Mr Potato Head?
Not rtft so someone else has probably already said this!

Sweetooth92 · 10/11/2020 02:32

My son is almost 3 and wants an ice cream maker for Christmas.
I didn’t know he knew an ice cream maker existed.

GlowingOrb · 10/11/2020 04:14

My 4yo wanted a puppy that had a magic collar that would let the puppy make it snow whenever she wanted.

FurrySlipperBoots · 10/11/2020 04:25

@JustFrustrated

My youngest asked for Green a couple of years ago. Just green. Not overly helpful. And Santa got it wrong because we were asked for Green again last year. Fuck knows who/what green is.

Hope that clears things up for you. Grin

My 3 year old asked Father Christmas for spaghetti bolognese when we were at the grotto....the look on Father Christmas' face was an absolute picture. On Christmas Morning, when he opened his presents and found his spaghetti, he was on cloud 9! When anyone asked him what he got for Christmas, he always just tells them about the spaghetti bolognese.... best present ever!

Or maybe

I suppose all those 'make icecreams'! You could always get one of those lolly moulds to freeze yoghurt in if you think he's serious!

If Santa has his own personal gold mine...

DS2 aged 3 “to be older than DS1”

Sorry Santa can’t perform miracles and Reverse birth order. He really doesn’t like being the younger brother.

Sweetener12 · 10/11/2020 07:59

My friend's DD asked for a barrel of her favorite sweets (she didn't get that much anyway but she was still happy!) and for her mom to "her mom to become just as beautiful as in the pictures". That's when my friend stopped going to extremes with her usage of photoworks Grin

Last year my DD was 3, we wrote a letter for father Christmas, but she didnt know what to write. I suggested a few things I thought she would like and she agreed. Then a week before Christmas she asked for a baby. She proudly told everyone she was getting a baby.. we went to the shop and I pointed at a baby doll and said a baby like that? Is that what father Christmas is bringing you? She said no and pointed to a very much real baby in a pram. I was like well, we are under a bit of time pressure to achieve that. I got her a baby doll instead and she called her Mary 😂 fast forward to now I've just had my second daughter, so she will have a baby this year. 🥰

Nope he already has one 🙈

Not Christmas, but I remember having a clear out of school stuff and finding a little booklet thing that a teacher had completed with DS2, under "I wish.." he'd said, "I wish I was invisible so I could annoy my brother and he wouldn't know it was me". Then further down the pile I found the booklet that DS1 had completed the previous year when he had the same teacher. Under "I wish.." he'd written, "I wish my brother was invisible and then I wouldn't have to listen or see him ever again"

I presume it was a tin?
ramblingsonthego · 10/11/2020 12:33

My 3 year old this year has asked for a wind up reindeer that you wind up with a key. I have no idea where it came from but she is adamant it has to be with a key. I can't find one anywhere.

PoisoningPigeons · 10/11/2020 12:43

In Reception year, DD2 wrote her list to Santa including "Tom from Green Class" Hmm When we checked, yes, she really did want Santa to bring Tom, a boy in her class, as one of her presents.

After further questioning, apparently it was because he had nice fuzzy hair and she wanted to keep him as a sort of pet so she could stroke it constantly.

DennisSkinnersMolotov · 10/11/2020 12:59

These are hilarious!

My niece (then 5) asked for a guitar one year but demanded that she write and ask Lemmy from Motorhead for one because he would know more about them than Santa.

Flossie44 · 10/11/2020 13:02

My dd has asked for a cat. DH hates cats and has always said no, so dd has decided to ask Santa as Santa won’t take into account daddy’s dislike of cats apparently!

maxineputyourredshoeson · 10/11/2020 13:28

DD1 asked for a real crocodile to live in the bath for Christmas, I explained that FC doesn’t bring live things. She said okay then I’ll have it for my birthday instead - her birthday is 28/12!

DD2 wanted hundreds of brussel sprouts ‘all to mine self’ when she was little. We bought her own bag which she was chuffed about but then insisted the ones that were bought for Christmas dinner were hers too....

Whiskeylover45 · 10/11/2020 13:30

DS 3.5. He wants A Spaceship. Upon questioning it wasn't the toy "spaceship" box that came with the buzz light-year toy he had asked for for months. No this was a real spaceship, so he could fly around and not have to go to bed at night. We explained to him that Santa only brings real life vehicles if you have a licence, and you have to be 17 to get one. He sulked and went "Sad!"

Don't make the rules son, sorry! 😂

mogtheexcellent · 10/11/2020 13:37

DDs list always includes the essentials. Pritt stick and blue stuff (BluTack).

InsanelyTired · 10/11/2020 13:48

My DS has asked for hot wheels and a real ghost' this year

Santa cannot bring live animals. They'd get too cold on the sleigh.

DS was once obsessed with the film Oliver!
He also loved Lego and had Lego City, Lego Batman, Lego Harry Potter etc.
One Christmas he requested a Lego Workhouse. He was very very insistent...

Cric · 10/11/2020 22:15

Sueelleker
It was a microwave one! I got up at 4am to sort it 😂

MamOfTwo · 10/11/2020 22:21

DD once request something "colourful and useful" - I think Santa went for a pencil case.
