Funny Santa requests from young children.

One thing I love at Christmas is hearing what very young children are asking for. Those little people who's imaginations know no boundaries.

Some of the most memorable I've heard are a real live hippopotamus like at the zoo, a guitar with a stick it took the parents a bit of effort to twig the meant a violin, a pink duck, and a red wheelbarrow.

What funny things have you heard of little kids asking for?

Ds who is 5 asked to be 4 again so he can wear his old pj masks pyjamas which don't fit him any more- he doesn't want new ones

movingonup20 · 09/11/2020 12:59

Thankfully mine are grown. They want (emailed to me) this year:
Fluffy socks
Marshmallows
Chocolate (not the dark horrible stuff you like mum)
New look vouchers/money
One wants running leggings
One wants a new computer mouse (fancy)

I think the top items were cut and pasted from last years requests. They have done a joint list for years

Run4it2 · 09/11/2020 13:00

When my daughter was about 5, top of her list was pink toilet roll...

DD1 (then six): My friend Hannah got a dog from Santa last year.
Me: ... I'm not sure if Santa can bring a dog to us.
DD: That's what Hannah thought. But then she asked her mum and her mum talked to Santa and so I'm going to ask anyway.
Me: You want me to talk to Santa to ask if he'll bring you a dog?
DD: (Looking very surprised). No. I want Santa to bring me Hannah's mum. She can ask him next year.

Ouch.

My dd is 4 and has asked for a rabbit Fox robot that is yellow with three red stars on each ear, one normal yellow leg and one big white leg with 8 blue stars on. She drew a picture of this months ago and keeps saying how she wants one and now it is only thing she wants from Santa. Luckily I like sewing so I'm going to attempt to make her one. I'm going off plan a tiny bit by adding a squeaker thing to put inside. I just hope she likes it!

A few years ago my youngest asked for a cloud. I did some digging, thinking it was something she'd seen on a children's tv show
When asked where she'd seen it, the reply was 'In my head'😳
Fortunately she was satisfied with a cloud shaped cushion. Phew😬

DSDs mum got her a kitten when she was 3 (DSD not the kitten haha), realised she couldn’t cope with it, gave it away and told DSD it had gone to live at the North Pole because it was in the run up to Christmas.
For the past 3 years running, I’ve had to talk DSD out of asking Santa for her kitten back as I don’t want her mum to feel bad Grin

A real unicorn to ride
A sister
A brother

Santa brought none of the above.

Afolnerd · 09/11/2020 13:54

Bikingbear

Nanny has a couple of them in her house, proper old 80’s throwback ones!

ellentree · 09/11/2020 13:58

My then three year old wanted a bathroom (en suite). I said we didn't have room and she said we could have an extension built!

@Christmasbiscuit

My 8yo has put "toy potato" on his list. Think he's trying to test if Santa is real!

Does he mean Mr Potato Head?

When my DD was 3 she asked for ‘dry day prickles’. I had no idea what the hell this was but she kept going on about dry day prickles. It was actually a Mumsnetter who cracked it for me that what she wanted was dried apricots! And the best bit was that she wanted them because she’d seen an episode of Dangermouse where a unicorn had eaten some dried apricots and farted rainbows and thought the same would happen for her!!

margaritasbythesea · 09/11/2020 14:16

When asked what her toddler brother might like for Christmas, Dd replied 'water. '

She had a point. He really likes water. Grin

Mud.

Further investigation revealed toy mud was sort for the toy farm pigs. One piece of brown fuzzy felt cut into a puddle shape. Done. It cost about 50p!

mrsswayze · 09/11/2020 15:45

My son who was 2 last Christmas wanted a dead spider! Turns out it was a rc spider

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/11/2020 15:46

DS aged about 4 asked Santa for a lamp. Santa then asks, "a magic lamp like in alladin?" "no" replies DS, just a lamp like from argos"

Twin nephews each wrote their lists. My sil reads the first one and he has asked for a pair of white gloves. She thought it a bit strange until she read the other list where DN has asked for a snooker table. Turns out other DN wanted to be the person who cleans the balls and puts them back on the table...

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 09/11/2020 16:00

DD age 3 just wanted a yo-yo and then at 4 a garden sprinkler, we had no grass! Obviously both items were bought.

KitBumbleB · 09/11/2020 18:12

A Pterodactyl called Sophie

Told her Santa was all out of Sophies.....

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 09/11/2020 18:20

Technically didn't ask Santa as they were birthday wants but...
One year DS2 asked for macaroni cheese.
The next year he asked for a Tesco bag to sit in Grin

My dcs asked for card board boxes one year, they must have been about 4 & 6.

Luckily dh lives opposite a haulage company so we sourced the biggest cardboard boxes ever, to their huge delight on Christmas day. And then of course, they refused to throw them out, so we had a house full of enormous cardboard boxes for ages ;-)
