Thread 14 - the one where we definitely don’t ask IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts’ dh to hide our presents

Hope you don’t mind the title @IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts !

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

This candle/diffuser advent calendar looks good for all the bits you get in it

£10 off £60 or £20 off £100 with code SAVEMORE at The Entertainer

weebarra · 21/10/2020 09:03

@newnamesameold - congratulations on reaching the end of chemo!
When I finished, I got the ward a big basket of fruit. Hand creams are also much appreciated and people have also said writing a letter of thank you that staff can use in appraisals.

XiCi · 21/10/2020 09:08

I'm not sure that the photo of the wax lyrical advent calendar is what is inside. I'd snap it up of it was however when you look at the actual description it says it just contains 24 festive tealights and a tealight holder so the description doesnt match the photo

RJnomore1 · 21/10/2020 09:09

@EvilHerbivore that’s not what is in the advent that’s the full matching range. The advent is 24 tealights and a holder.

At least I hope it is - the description stats talking about a poo emoji bike bell but I’ve taken a gamble anyway!

VividImagination · 21/10/2020 09:11

@Twilightstarbright we have both B&M and Home Bargains in our town but because dh is in a high risk category for Covid I haven’t dare go real life shopping. I have ordered the marshmallow snowflakes, wee boxes of hot chocolate and chocolate stirrers online (they didn’t have the snowmen or gingerbread) and although I grudge the postage I don’t suppose it’s worse than petrol, parking and “risk”.

Twilightstarbright · 21/10/2020 09:14

Thank you @VividImagination I'll get hunting.

Lockdownlumpy · 21/10/2020 09:14

I'm also mulling over celtic slippers for myself. Hard uninsulated floors and Raynauds aren't a great combo.

Does anyone have a code for One Green Bottle or somewhere that stocks them?
I know lots of people are going for chilly bottles but I specifically need a metal bottle with a spout type thing. (not KK, ds doesn't like that style of cap)

EvilHerbivore · 21/10/2020 09:15

Ahhh sorry, not a good bargain at all then! Blush Looks like there's been other confusion too

@Icantfindanewname well done! What a great milestone to reach.

When DH finished his treatment we did similar - for the chemo ward we did a basket of tea/coffee/got chocolate sachets and also some cans of juice, and then I made a basket of homemade scones.

For the radiotherapy unit we did a basket of hand creams and lipbalms (all bought from body shop when they were on a special deal) and then a ton of stationery - pens, post it notes, notebooks etc as were were told they are always short of them and end up buying them with their own money. I bought them all from amazon and found some fun post its which were nicer than the bog standard yellow.

Snapfish have 50% off canvas prints with code CAN1020 until 25/10.

I placed a click & collect order with Matalan yesterday and the lead time is a minimum of 10 days!! Shock Good thing it isn't anything I need urgently - puts me off ordering from them for Christmas though!

NoWordForFluffy · 21/10/2020 09:23

@buckeejit

Warning!!!

Sainsburys double up- I just remembered folk saying about going to a 'big store'. I believe they restrict it to if you've shopped there in the last 30-90 days. So if you plan to spend points at a big store, do a trip & scan your nectar card there now to allow you to seem a 'regular customer'

I'm not sure that's still valid. That was when you exchanged in store, I believe, as you could only exchange if you'd shopped there.

Frustratingly, I've not seen any communication from Nectar / Sainsbury's, only the money saving websites. They should email round shortly, so I'll check the terms and confirm on here.

Purpleheadgirl · 21/10/2020 09:23

@lockdownlumpy my kids swear by sheefly bottles if you want a flip top metal bottle. Comes with 2 x types of lid. 500ml size usually £9.99 from amazon but often in some deal or another. Can buy extra lids and straws too.

Brogues · 21/10/2020 09:25

@LostMyRubySlippers unfortunately it didn't work on my order but it might work for others so thanks for posting it.

ZIGGY911 · 21/10/2020 09:25
@Icantfindanewname what about a Tasimmo machine if they’re still on offer at £25?
Or Sainsbury’s had big boxes of individually wrapped border biscuits recently which was good. Or mugs!!! Hospital staff always need mugs as theirs go walkabout all the time (I’m blaming the Drs).
Where would I find a Tassimo at £25 please. I'm after one for a present

Fuckingfuckssake · 21/10/2020 09:33

I have a £15 off voucher for Buyagift I won't use, no minimum spend, I won't post it here as it'll get snaffled, pm if you'd like it, looking for a Boden £10 off if anyone has one on the back of the little catalogue they don't need! Thanks.

Morning all. For anyone interested ive just started a thread for small business recommendations (in the Christmas section) these threads move so fast and things get missed so I thought it would be a nice idea for those looking to shop small this year! Feel free to pop on and add a business!

XiCi · 21/10/2020 09:43

I think it was Argos ZIGGY911. It was a week or so ago though so not sure if offer will still be on

recklessgran · 21/10/2020 09:44

@Fuckingfuckssake I've pm'd you.

I have a 20% off over £50 spend at Lakeland that expires tonight if anyone would like it please pm me.

bookish83 · 21/10/2020 09:57

@Crackery

Remind me... do M&S still do their 20% off days? Or is it friends and family codes only... and if so do we expect any out before Christmas?
I got a random 20% single use a few weeks ago on my Sparks card

I asked and the girl said she doesn't think there will be the normal F&F ones this year. She said they haven't been told for sure but she just said 'things might be different this year'

Lockdownlumpy · 21/10/2020 09:59

Ugh sorry ugly link.

Experience above is £19 and goes to £4 with code.
